Happy Birthday Hazel! Thank you for giving us Mary and Becky, wonderful recipes, years of patterns folded in the plastic sleeves and kettle corn! Most of all thank you for continuing to watch over us! We miss you!!

I have answered your question just a week or so ago – no, we are not sisters. Becky is my sister. What makes you ask?

I love seeing pictures of your mom. She was such a pretty lady😃. I think of all those parents who were born in the teens and the lives they lived. The other day someone was kind of laughing at my husband and me for being careful with our money. I said, “ Four Depression era” parents didn’t raise spendthrift Kids!! They really were a great generation. The # 3’s are fun to see and I love dog stories. Thanks, Mary.

Yes, we had to be very careful because there just wasn’t much money. There was so much we could make, grow, etc that didn’t cost much — just time. Thank God for gardens, chickens and eggs. Sorry, Mary. They were for eating. It might be good for this generation to learn about saving as times could get very hard and they would really suffer learning these lessons the hard way. My Gramma ruined me for life when she always said “Don’t waste it.” I think about it every day while I clean my plate.

Happy Birthday to your mom, Mary. She is one beautiful lady. Both you and Becky look like her. My mom has been gone 19 years and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about her.

My mom turned 100 on September 5. Today is her big party.

From your Michigan kindred spirit. We have so much in common, beer and straight line quilting and moms from 1919 and much more.

What a beautiful lady!! You can just see the spunkiness (is that a word?) in her eyes. I bet she was so much fun. I think a celebration is in order! Happy Birthday!!

What a beautiful picture of your Mom. My dad was a photographer and took many pictures of us trying out new film and shutter speeds. After seeing your photo, it reminds me of a picture of my Mom on a park bench in town wearing a beautiful dress. It gives me an idea to get that photo enlarged and have my husband make a frame for it. Your photo is so natural looking – I love it. My Mom is gone 17 years and I think of her always. Treasure the great memories.

That snapshot was in a frame and not really that great except it was true Hazel – she has a cookie in her hand! And this Apple didn’t fall far from the tree! Hahaha!

Happy birthday to you mother in Heaven. We sure do miss our moms in Heaven don’t we? Mine will be 100 on September 24th. Enjoy your memories, Mary and Becky!
My granddaughter asked why I always scrape out everything from the eggshell. I told her that Grandma Schoonover taught us never to waste food because that was what her mother, Grandma Zimmerman, taught my mother during the Drpression. It stays with you. I hope my granddaughter passes it onto her daughter!

Mary, your mom was lovely. My mom was born in 1919, too, and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of her. Nice to see the picture of your mom.

Mary, I know who you got your looks from. Your mom was a beauty. I wonder what was her secret to keep young. I couldn’t post yesterday, but wanted to say that she was lovely and so are you. How is the knee going? Hugs and take care.
