I know lots of you are watching March Madness right along with me. Isn’t it great? We are also keeping track of Iowa State women who had their hands full last night but did manage to pull it a win.
Some great reader quilts here that I did not want to forget!

And this little guy just wanted to lay on his quilt!

Snowing this one again because it’s coming to the top of my radar!

I’m going to remember this work in progress as my March Madness quilt!

I pulled a mindless sewing project by Country Threads and then sorted all my pink and green 2-1/2” squares – I can sew and still keep track of the game – a win win for me!
Great post Mary, enjoy the games!
Last night our game started one hour late. I believe we play Iowa State Boys tomorrow night.
Love March Madness!
Dawn B – I really like the layout of your quilt. Wish I could remember to do that with some of my fabric that I wouldn’t want to cut up into smaller pieces. Love all the other quilts as well. We are cheering on the Iowa State boys and girls and the Iowa girls. The Iowa Hawkeye girls played an awesome game yesterday. They are so fun to watch.
Thank you. The original pattern was in the March/April 2011 issue of Quiltmaker magazine. I made a smaller version of the alternate.
Did you fill out a bracket this year, Mary? I did for the first time in 6 years and KY and Iowa busted it.
Glad both men’s and women’s teams won last night. Grace was able to watch the women in Ames last night!
Emily – Iowa and Kentucky messed up a lot of brackets I am sure!! I didn’t fill one out.
Emily – LUCKY GRACE! No, I’ve never filled out a bracket. I just love these games!
I love the colors you are using in your March Madness quilt! Enjoy the games!
Oh yes, lots of basketball and we are loving it. Like your “March Madness quilt “ beginnings. Looking forward to the results!
We were flipping channels last evening, and cheering for UD women and Wright State men. Unfortunately, both are done for the year. We will still be watching UD (Dayton) men in NIT tournament tomorrow. I’ll also pay attention to Iowa State vs Iowa women. It’s a great day for sewing here, wind and rain are outside.
🏀GO ZAGS!!!!🏀
I love your #12, Dawn!! Saving the pic for inspiration.
I’m watching BB also. Couldn’t stay awake for the second half of the Wisconsin game last night. Looming forward to tomorrow night for our next game against Iowa State.
That March Madness quilt is going to be very pretty, Mary. I have several I am working on, too. I do fill out a bracket, but don’t get too upset when it is a mess. One year, one of my students went on to play for Colorado State. He helped me fill it in and I came in third of the teachers:) NC State vs Baylor was wild today! I am hoping to have a couple of quilt pics to send soon.
I keep forgetting to mention.. I still click the X’s on the ads. Should I be doing that?
Diane – THANK YOU FOR CLICKING THOSE ADS! Kayla is working on that this weekend – we need to start promoting that again – it helps us pay for all the blog expenses. What a game that Baylor game was – NC really deserved to win.
I agree! It was certainly exciting! I am hoping St Peter’s wins. Gotta love the underdog🐶🐶.
I just love March Madness. That was a heck of a game by UNC. When I worked I had everyone filling out the bracket including folks who never watched college sports. It amazed me that they were usually one of the top three in picks. Just goes to shows one that it is truly “March Madness”! Made binding and quilted a charity quilt while watching the games today. Can’t wait to see your March Madness quilt!
Congratulations, Mary on Iowa’s win over our Badgers. Well-deserved win. We were better on free throws but Iowa sure cinched the 3 pointers. Hope you enjoyed the game.
That would be IOWA STATE’S win over Wisconsin. The only Iowa school with 2 teams still alive and going to the Sweet 16! Cyclone fans are SO excited!
Ila -isn’t this just so much fun? Wish the games weren’t back to back so we could see both! Oh, how I hope they both do well!
Ila – I left a comment to you already but also wanted to point out to the readers that Iowa and Iowa State are two separate schools and one cannot be mistaken for the other. Both Rick and I went to Iowa State which has always been thought of as Iowa’s poor country cousin. I wonder what those Iowa fans are thinking now. On another note, I ALWAYS cheer for Iowa when Iowa State is not playing.
Mary, I agree with you on both comments. It’s so much fun! It’s so frustrating that their games overlap. I graduated from ISU also and living in NE Iowa we get no respect. It’s all Iowa and the Big10 so I’m a little touchy about that. Go State!
Ila in Monona
Ila – as you could tell by my comment, I’m a little touchy about that, too! Haha! Are you Jo’s friend Ila? If you live in NE Iowa, I just put 2 and 2 together – maybe I’m wrong.
Jo has presented to our quilt guild a couple times and I follow her blog. We aren’t personal friends but I would love to be. She lives about 40 miles straight west of me but in NE Iowa there are no roads that go straight west so it takes about an hour to get there.
That would be IOWA STATE’S win over Wisconsin. The only Iowa school with 2 teams still alive and going to the Sweet 16! Cyclone fans are SO excited!
