Remember Brenda Jeffers who broke her neck and more when she fell? We sent her cards and she sent me this update today.

Readers,

A mere ‘thank you’ for all the cards I received since the accident. I have received 106 cards from 30 different states. It’s been so fun reading them. I read through them again and each has touched my heart by the kindness of strangers. Please accept my heartfelt thank you to each of you who sent me a card. Attached is a picture of the basket where I’ve kept all the cards.
This has been a life-altering event for me. During a recent conversation with my doctor’s office, I was told IF the x-rays & CT scan show the area to be healed, I cannot drive until I’m evaluated by the physical therapist to be cleared to drive. My neck muscles will be extremely sore and it may be difficult for me to not turn my head so don’t be surprised it may take some PT treatments before I’m allowed to drive. <sigh> I am trying not to get ahead of my skis on this topic.
I hate pictures of myself but I thought readers might like to see the difference between January and the end of March. I have my new glasses and the bruising is gone. Excuse the messy hair. I had a hair appointment scheduled for the following week of the accident (on Sunday). Needless to say, I had to cancel my appointment. Having a hair appointment is one of the first things I’m going to do when I’m able. Of course, I thought people would like to see Barney again. He doesn’t like the collar being in place because he always wanted to snuggle right under my chin and is unable to do so for now.
Again, I want to thank each and everyone for sending me a card. It was such a simple gesture but one I, as someone who is limited to my home (which I love, thank goodness), appreciates from the bottom of my heart.
With Deep Gratefulness,
Brenda Jeffers

More ballgames tonite. Church in the morning – a week ago tonight we were experiencing a blizzard! Tonight it’s 65 degrees!

Mary,
Thanks for the update on Brenda! And Brenda, you do look great and I like your new glasses. I see my return address label in your basket and am so glad you are enjoying the cards. Keep on letting us know how you are, we really care for each other.
I just read a few back posts cause I didn’t take the time while watching basketball! But can you tell me what happened to Tim? I missed it. He’s such a beautiful cat, too.
I agree that Villa Rose has some beautiful patterns. Take care! Go, Iowa! 🌻
Sunflower I believe Tim was in a cat fight of some type when he was gone for a few days, he came back, then is gone for a while again, so when he returned, Mary could see his injury is still healing.
Thanks! 🌻
It’s good to see Brenda and grateful for her healing. Thank God that He heals us In so many ways.
Brenda, you look great. It takes time and friends….and you have plenty of us. Also a very needy cat. Keep us posted.
Nothing as comforting as listening to a cat purr while he(she) is on your lap. Best wishes on your recovery.
Wonderful news, Brenda! Just keep moving and doing PT. Every day moves you one step closer to your goal – which, you already know. But, remember you have a cheer squad across the nation rooting for you.
Oh, Brenda…I am so happy for you. What a huge difference between Jan. and March. YOu look great and I know you will make improvements each and every day until you are completely well and Driving again. Won’t that be something!! Barney looks like a very sweet cat.
Made my heart sing with the note from Brenda. I am so happy to hear how well she is doing and how the cards cheered her. Quilters are good people!
We had 90 degrees yesterday in SW Iowa. Crazy! This morning not even 50 and expected to only go to 56! Mother Nature doing her thing. 90 in March is too much! I did get a walk at temp 80 degrees. My sewing room was on the cool side and sweater required.
Brenda, you’re looking g great! So much better not all bruised up. Keep up with the PT, it’ll get you back to normal soon.
Thanks Mary for the update. Have a good rest of the weekend!
Thanks for sharing Brenda’s update with us and we all wish it were a quick and speedy recovery but PT and patience tell us it’s a journey. Brenda you look so much better and have a good color so I hope spring time is giving you some walks in fresh air. We’re all here for you!
Hi Brenda,
So glad your doing better!!!
Bea knight
Brenda, thank you for the update. You look beautiful!! I’m so glad you got lots of cards. Keep up the good work and you’ll be driving soon.
SO glad Brenda is doing better!!!! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Brenda, for the update. You look beautiful! Prayers for a complete recovery.
Oh, Brenda, you look so much better! Poor little Barney just doesn’t understand. My husband broke his neck in 1982–he was 33 years old and is 76 now. He did PT etc and did well. It is very frustrating, I know. I had to drive him for 8 weeks. But, he has been able to drive and even do white water rafting so hang in there! It will get better!
Brenda, you look beautiful! Thanks for letting us know how you’re doing. What a trial you’ve been through ~ hang in there and continue to take good care. Prayers for continued healing and speedy recovery 🙏…and your Barney looks like a sweet sweet boy🥰
Brenda, so glad to get your update! I have been thinking of you. You are looking so much better. Prayers that your recovery will continue to go smoothly. Looks like Barney is a great companion!❤️
Thank you for the update! Glad you are feeling some better. Continued well wishes for you!
This brings tears to my eyes. She looks so, so good!😊 It’s simply amazing what it can mean to have positive human interaction and connections when we are in a hard place – and even in an ordinary day.
