A Quick Note

The Barn Swallows kit was sold to my neighbor who picked it up by 5 pm. If I come across more, I’ll post them. Thanks for your interest. Nothing new here today so I’m going to watch more of Mrs, Maisel. Basketball games tonight!

Mary, I just received the Patterns I ordered from you…thank you so much! Do you have any more parr’s for the Barn Swallows wall hanging? I’d be interested in one if you do! Thanks again, Kaye G.

Kaye – you can order the Barn Swallows pattern for $10 sent to Country Threads and include a mailing label and tell me what you’re ordering.

The Fat Quarter Shop has a pattern and tutorial for a Starling Quilt. I made it and then configured the center blank space with a smaller starling circle.

Mary, A friend shared about a book by Victoria .F. Wolf entitled 15 MINUTES OF PLAY IMPROVATIONAL QUILTS from CnT. Author sews scraps for her backgrounds. If I’m going to order a book online I like to see some quilts inside. Have you heard of this author?

    Watched games last night.

    The Modlily ad looks great!

Yes, Victory Finley Wolf is excellent. Love her as well as her books, quilts and inspiration. If you Google her name you should find her website and plenty of information regarding her books. I have the book and love it!

I have that book and her double wedding ring one and she is very inspirational as a speaker. Great user of scraps and even polyester fabric! She’s in Lancaster PA right now at AQS show doing a class and lecture as I was trying to figure out how I could get to it but it wasn’t possible this week for me to go. I got to meet her in NYC and she is so very sincere and kind.

I forgot to add….can you imagine how jet lagged that poor girl has got to feel with her trip to Africa and then onto PA.

I saw a quick picture of Vanilla Bean with the light pieced scraps. Thanks for the other info. I did find the book on Amazon earlier, but the Peek Inside wasn’t much more than the front cover.
        Appreciate the replies!

Mary I loved the The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel aren’t the clothes absolutely gorgeous?

Rita – I am really enjoying the clothes and those apartments are gorgeous. I just don’t know how I would ever live in one without being able to step outside. Haha! I’m just now starting Season 2. Loving it!

I’ll be rooting for Purdue. My son, nephew, niece all graduated from there, My father-in-law was a physics professor there and worked on the Manhattan Project. I worked there for 28 years. We’ll all be glued to the tv. That Purdue/Tennessee game almost gave me a heart attack. Boiler up! Hammer Down!

Ida Tendam – I am pulling for Purdue – let’s knock off #1 VA and make this interesting! Haha! What job did you have at Purdue for so long? TN beat out IA in OT and I was pretty nervous that they’d do it again. March Madness!!!!! It’s wonderful!

Hi Mary, I just wanted to thank you for telling us about how you machine quilt in straight lines. I’ve adopted that idea and am loving it. I can now use my home machine and do my quilts myself with a walking foot , (medium sized around 60 x 70, some people do much larger ones) I’m saving money and I love the look and feel of the quilt. Never did like dense machine quilting. Straight lines for me! Thank you!!

    Hi Mary!

I wish I could post a picture on here to let everyone see what I saw in the Iowa magazine…we were visiting my parents this afternoon and dad showed me a photo of a gas station – since we were talking about old gas stations. The photos are always so pretty in the magazine so I was flipping thru the magazine. I went by a page…flipped back because that looked like my friend Mary – and it was!! Here was a photo and story of Mary and her owl friend!

I also loved Mrs. Maisel, she’s hysterical!

Sherry – I sent them the perfect picture that I took of the owl but they wanted the one with me in it which disappointed me very much. Maybe I’ll tell about it on the blog.

Mary I hope you were cheering for much Texas a Tech Red Raiders. First time in s hook history to play in a Final Four for Basketball. I am going to the game with friends. We are flying into Des Moines, because we couldn’t get direct flight into Minneapolis. My friend is a quilter and her husband is very supportive of her hobby. Are there any quilt shops we need to visit in Des Moines, on way to Minneapolis or while there?

Karen – I just sent you an email! And I’m just now reading blog comments. Boy, I have no idea about quilt shops – I don’t go to any. Oh, wait – in Ames on Main Street – Quilting Connection and if I could drive to a shop it would be this one. Easy to find – take the Duff Exit Off I-35 and drive north to Main Street and take a left. Quilt shop is a couple blocks west on the south side of street. You will have so much fun at the game! And I am green with envy!
