Thanks to so many readers and friends who wished me Happy Birthday today! I’ve spent it here.
A good book, several glasses of raspberry iced tea and a friend to keep me company has been quite nice actually.
My friend, Hazel, is never far from my side. Just look at that face!
I’ve had several phone calls, too, one being from my friend Vivian who has a friend in Sioux City who reads the blog – I’m sending greetings to the friend who feels a connection to Vivian’s hometown through me. Someone said we quilters are a close group and I couldn’t agree more.
Remember my friend Ema who bakes the delicious bread? Her little girl Harriet thinks this is the idea of good fun! I have to agree.

Too much stuff so I’ve got things in my car and another bag started for charity. I won’t miss it. So much more has to go ! I want to sew and I have one of my machines set up so I have no excuse. Hubby finished cutting hay today, he will probably rake some tomorrow weather hasn’t been cooperating with making hay been over cast and not too warm 71 but needs to be done.

Wishing you Happy Birthday Greetings one day late! Today we celebrate our Grandaughter Chiara’s birthday one day early! She is 8 years old now! She lives one mile from us so we try our best to see her often! She is growing up so fast. This year I will try my best to participate in the Dirty Dozen as I have so many UFO’s to do, I need the nudge. Presently I have been working on getting my hubster back to good health, his diabetes is out of control, plus other issues. He has IV three times per 24 hours, (I do it), for an abcessed lung infection, so multiple issues. We take our gift of good health for granted for sure. I love reading your blog and appreciate your taking the time to do this, you are so positive and encouraging. Again, Happy Belated Birthday, I just turned 70 on June 26th, enjoyed my first full year of retirement as well.
Cinders – I am so sorry to hear that your husband is so sick! YOU can put in the IV? Are you a nurse? How long has he been on IV’s? Id never be able to do it – you have my admiration!

It sounds as if you had a wonderful birthday, Mary! Now it is Independence Day. The celebrations will be few and far between this year because of the virus, but some towns are still doing their part. The fireworks started up in my neighborhood last night and it scares Bailey. She goes into my closet and hides in there; she must feel safe being in there! The temperatures have hovered in the low 90’s this week so it is nice to stay inside with air conditioning. My trumpet vine is in full bloom and the hummingbirds just love it. My hydrangeas (just like yours) are blooming now, too. I believe they are “Annabelles.” Blessings to you; have a great weekend!

And what better friend could you want than that adorable Hazel? I’m so smitten that I’m thinking of getting two just like her … my last kitty died on March 30 during all this virus mess, and I’m going to get two small sister dogs instead of kitties this time. I finally figured out she’s a Parson Jack Russell Terrier and will start looking around for a couple of them in NC soon. Of course I’d take two cute little mutts or rescues, too. Yes that little. Hazel does have the sweetest face, but a little rascal, underneath. We really haven’t had much summer here yet. Says 75 here today but it’s still in the 60’s. But no rain so that’s good.
I’m cooking just for family this 4 th of July. A simple lunch this year, burgers, potato salad, beans, salad. Cake. We are also eating a lot earlier as my granddaughter has to work at 1:00.
