Almost Time To Go home 1-10-2020

Surgery is over and it all went fine. This time instead of throwing up all night, I itched. Something that they gave maybe made me so itchy, the night was very long

Rick dropped me off and went back home to do chores. I assured him he didn’t have to come back until I was dismissed this afternoon. So that’s where I’m at right now–I’ve seen the doctor, physical therapy, ate breakfast and will have a group discussion next.

Now I’m going to rest until group therapy – I’m not looking forward to PT or sitting in chair. All is well otherwise.

So happy to see your smiling face!!! I hope they tell you what caused the itching reaction. Everyone will be so happy you are coming home soon.
Looking forward to your armchair reports cause you always have something interesting going on for us to read about. Glad it’s over and you have spring to look forward to. This time of year is a good time to store up energy by resting so you have lots of strength and stamina to carry you thru spring and summer.

  34. Roxanne

dilaudid is something I was given IV after my shoulder replacement. Horrible itching and dizziness. Miserable. If you were given this for pain relief that may be the culprit. I joked with my husband that it was great for pain—made me so itchy I couldn’t think about pain. Ha!
Now I say I’m allergic to it, so I never need to take it again!
Home is best now. Just rest and get better, Mary.

  35. Diane and Squeak in Central Ohio

Great news! I thought about you a lot yesterday and hoped you weren’t throwing up—for me that is the worst. Itching isn’t pleasant either. Now both knees are done, and you’ll soon be ready to get back to the active life you live.

  42. JudyE

Glad to hear your surgery went well and that you will soon be home. Rest and don’t over due it when you start to feel better.

  43. Brenda Archambault

Mary, we’re all so relieved the surgery was successful and, now that the itching is either under control or gone, you can go forward to recovery. Trying to get rest in the hospital is an oxymoron, you’re so much better off at home in your own bed or chair. Rest, heal, and be waited on for a change.

  44. Sharon in Oswego, Il

Sending positive thoughts that you recover quickly. Be safe if you travel home tomorrow….and pamper yourself–rest!

  50. Dorothy Sheldrake

Did you use sage cloths the night before as a disinfectant? I did before one of my knee surgeries and found I was allergic to them. Was awake all night scratching, far worse than the pain. Will NEVER use them again.

  51. Kim J LeMere

I was really glad to read that it went well and now you need to get onto recovery, spring is right around the corner and the outside is calling. I so enjoy when you give us tours of your yard coming alive and all those critters that call it home. Prayer for healing and less itching!

  52. Julie D.

So glad to see you’re smiling and doing well. Now let the recovery and healing begin! You did it once and you’ll do it again!! Take Care Mary!

  53. Sue Sinkhorn

If you had morphine for pain that is probably your reason for itching. It could also be an allergic reaction to something they gave you. I can’t take statins. I was miserable. If the itching continues tell the Dr. It is important to your health.

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Sue Sinkhorn – I did have morphine in an IV during surgery they said. I will remember to tell my dr. at my 6 week appointment. Thanks!
