It’s a dreary rainy Labor Day in North Iowa and since I forgot to take that picture of the couch quilt yesterday, I remembered today. The first time we made this quilt it was made with patriotic fabric – thus the “flag” at the bottom of the quilt. If looking from the back of the couch, it will also read as a flag. Here it is on the couch in my porch – wow, does it look good with that rug! That was accidental, for sure.
And today we’re offering a hand appliqué pattern for fall. This is Oak Leaves and Acorns from our regular line of pre-published patterns, normally $10 but from today till October 1 you can buy it for $3.00.
This was originally done with hand appliqué but if that’s not your idea of fun sewing, these motifs could be fused and stitched by machine to speed up the process.
Okay – that means thru the month of September you can order Sugar Maple and Oak Leaves and Acorns for $3.00 each which will include shipping. An address label is so helpful -please and thank you!
I’m heading out to the shop to finish up another project that I’ll be showing you. Had a message from Connie this morning that said Betty slept thru the night! We are as excited as if this was a baby child! I can’t wait till Betty comes back to Garner! Here’s Betty with Ben riding in the convertible VW.
Betty is adorable! I look forward everyday to see your blog. Will be sending for you patterns. I am a simple quilter and your style is perfect for me. Dee
Omg, I made this pattern years and years ago. I still hang it. One of my favorite patterns you created.
I, too, made the oak leaves and acorn pattern many years ago, and still hang it up every fall. Your patterns really stand the test of time! I also love your blog and check every day for new entries.
Carolyn and Linda – you can’t imagine how thrilled we are to hear you’re still enjoying your fall quilt!
Cute pic!!
Love Ben and Betty! So cute! Thank you for offering the Oak Leaves and Acorns pattern! Your blog musings are the best part of my day. Have a wonderful week…no more RAIN!
OMGosh….That photo of Ben and Betty is priceless. So very cute!
Love your Oak leaves and acorns quilt. Thinking…..
The Labor Day holiday is nearly over. We had nice weather for all the campers that come here.
I love Oak Leaves and Acorns! I made it many years ago and will be putting it up soon after I take down your tulips in the wheel barrow. (Don’t remember the pattern name). Thanks for creating this great seasonal pattern.
Ben and Betty – Adorable!
Started your leaf/acorn appliqué quilt years ago…but fine appliqué is not my thing. Found the partly finished piece last year….thought to myself…..”maybe wool appliqué.” Did it and it is stunning! Thanks for the lovely pattern! I leave it out all year, because I love it so much!
Annie – that is wonderful! Wish I’d thought to suggest it.
Hi Mary…the 2 hour couch quilt looks fabulous with the rug! What a lovely area. I like the flags included in the quilt design. Happy Ben is doing well and enjoying an outing with the new dog. Over the years I have very much enjoyed the patterns/ideas and much more that you and Connie have designed.
What a sweet picture of Betty and Ben!! Love the second fall project too, will have to send for the pattern for that as well.
I would like to buy this pattern and would love to purchase the pattern Leap. Please let me know how to do this.
Gena Stewart – send $10 for Leap and $3 for Oak Leaves

Just recently subscribed to your blog & was surprised to see the Leaves & Acorns pattern as I had bought it long ago. Was quite daunting for me to do by hand & I put it away till last fall & finally dug it out, finished it & hung it up……and its still hanging there….all ready for Fall!!! Love it!
Hi Mary – September has gone so fast – I am putting my $3 for the Leaves & Acorns pattern in the mail to you today. My apologies for getting to this at the very end of the month – and thank you for sharing such a wonderful pattern!
