This is the name of our new book coming out early next year.

The final proofs are going back and forth right now between writer and publisher.

We are very excited to feature the women behind the scenes during the Civil War. We consider ourselves more than fortunate to have a friend who enjoys historical research.

Each quilt has a sidebar dedicated to a woman who lived during the Civil War and worked for the cause, either North or South. Some were professional women while others toiled at home in the fields. Honestly, it was so interesting to me as someone who really enjoyed history yet I couldn’t remember these famous women! I’m sure you’ll feel the same way. It gives this book depth and interest while showcasing quilts made with reproduction fabric from this era.

Our thanks go out to Tanya Tullos from Houston, TX for researching these women of the Civil War and writing all the sidebars while we made the quilts.

We are so thrilled to introduce you to the women and the quilts from “Beyond the Battlefield”.

You just sent all your readers to the candy store but the candy hasn’t arrived yet. So we have to be patient and wait. šŸ˜„

What a delightful tribute! The cover quilt’s scrappy colors really honor the North and South’s colors. I’d better get my Cobblestones quilted and Connie’s orange n black Stars block’s sewn into rows now. I love reproduction fabrics. Can’t wait for the tribute sidebar stories.

I have cut way down on buying quilting books for the simple reason they just haven’t interested me but this one will. I like the ones with sidebars with stories or of people or even when they talk about inspiration behind their design. Heck I really enjoy even when they show their work spaces and pets around their homes. Those are the books I seek now for my library to read so will be anxious to have some coffee table book to pick up and read this fall.

You have indeed found a good friend in Tanya Tullos. I am eager to read the history that she contributed. She has been my colleague as a librarian but above that, a friend you can depend on. Congratulations on the excitement your books bring to so many.

Sally Meyers – this has been a new look at the Civil War for Connie and me – providing side bars of historical facts about women will make this book much more than just a quilt book!
