Our monthly Novel Idea group met today at the library but before we went in, I asked Connie to sit next to this pot so you could get a better idea of the size. Isn’t it just beautiful?
The matching hanging baskets line the street.
Connie is a member of the group who arranges for these plantings and I don’t think there’s another town who displays more beautiful flowers. A local guy waters them everyday and it shows!
Since we were in front of the library I took a picture of this group of grasses that I just love!
Here are some of the books we talked about – sorry, don’t have authors for all.
Dear Carolina
Turtles All the Way Down
Rooster Bar
First Family by Michael Palmer
Something in the Water
Saturday Night Supper Club
Before We Were Yours -this is on my Amazon wish list
Woman In the Window
Matterhorn
The President Is Missing
I was really lazy today and read The Hangman’s Daughter most of the afternoon. A box came in the mail for me from my friend Jane in Nevada. I knew it would be succulents and cactus from her own gardens. Within a couple hours everybody was in a pot and I sent her this picture.
Here’s a plant that she sent me years ago as a small cutting like these.
And I was thrilled to see “cheerleader”cactus blooming today!
And here’s Chicklet and Delores to say HI!
Thanks for reading! A click on an ad will be your thank you in return! We both hope you’re having a great summer!
I must be doing something wrong. When I see there is an email from you I open it. There is a picture of Connie with the beautiful pink flowers ( no adds). But then if I click on “leave a commen”t, I get all the rest of the post with all the other great pictures, but still no adds. I enjoy your posts so much and want to click on your adds, but must be missing something because there aren’t any. I guess I need instruction! The flowers are beautiful. I’ve seen the same type of beautiful flowers in Clear Lake that have to be watered every night by someone, perhaps locals from there.
Pat -do you click on “read more”?
Eureka! That did it. I’m not very computer savvy, but I get it now.
Another sunny n warm Wednesday in northern Idaho, Mary.
Connie and the beautiful flowers 🌸 are so nice to see. Thank you to Garner for the baskets downtown, too. They look so lovely.
I just read THE DISAPPEARED by C. J. BOX… wouldn’t you know it has snow ❄️ in it!
Today I finished cutting the 25 blocks for Cobblestones. Have sewn 10 blocks so far. I cut my strips 1 1/2” wide to give me a little bit larger topper.
Oh, my!! Connie looks great by the petunias!! Flowers look good, too!! I would hate to be the one to have to “dead-head” that pot!! Probably a full time job!! 😉
WOW! What a plant!
I clicked on the Read More and came to the site to see the other photos. I don’t see any ads to click on.
I did the same, and no ads…I am on my laptop.
Beautiful flowers!!!
I forgot to tell you I read your posts on my iPad. Maybe that makes a difference in seeing ads yet I follow other blogs and I see more ads than anything else.
Mary – I guess I don’t know either. Thanks for reading!
I clicked on the big heading of Country Threads and got ads at the top of the page. Love all the flower baskets, they are fabulous!!! Chicklet is really handsome, fun to see his picture all grown up.
Hi! Those must be wave petunias — no dead heading needed & fill their containers to overflowing. Love them! We’ve had a lot of rain in TN this spring & a number of quick, but heavy rains this summer! I thought perhaps my wave petunias may have been drowned but nope; they popped right back & continue to grow & grow! Harder to find here in TN than they were in IL.
Love your pictures! I am reading The Rooster Bar right now and have The President is Missing is waiting here for me to read as well. I would love to read all day but….!! Way too much other stuff to do as you do as well.
Thanks for the book list. I was glad to see The President is Missing on the list. I just ordered that today as a gift for my husband….and then I will read it.
Gorgeous Petunias.
The flower pot is amazing. I love to pass the time reading and now I have a new bunch to add to my list. I hope you get the rain you need to keep the gardens flourishing.
The baskets in Canton, SD are beautiful, too. If I could figure out how to put a pic in here, I would show you. By the way, my sister said she heard locust last week ☹️
I’m reading “Before We Were Yours” right now and it’s terrific! It’s supposed to be very hot here today so my plan is to get a lot done this morning and then try to finish the book this afternoon while sitting in the shade under the redwood tree. 🙂
Thanks for the pretty picture and the book list. I will write them down. On my way to Thursday morning sewing or Stitch and Bitch whichever we decide we are that day!! I clicked on the ad and got a hospital here in Ohio in a town I’ve never heard of; isn’t that interesting? It’s fun to see where the ads are from.
Love the succulents, too. Off and running…. Diane
WOW! That just does NOT happen in Texas! Thanks for posting the BeautiFULL BLOOMS of the Midwest!
Judy in Texas
Wow!!! Just wow!!!!
I love the flowers in Garner! And I have read Rooster Bar, it is good but not one of his best. Camino Island was much better in my opinion. Ha I sound like such a reader! Maybe two books a year! I see the ads on the upper right hand side of my screen. Today was Lazy Boy-wonder if the internet is telling me something!
Looks like a wonderful summer day.
the heat doesn’t sow in the picture. Flowers are great.
Mary, that is a huge pot of petunias. It really makes an impact. I need to fertilize mine and maybe they’ll get to be that big. Good picture of Connie. That Chicklett is handsome dude, it is nice to see him all grown up.
So, your friend sends you plants by the mail. How nice! I am much luckier, thoug. My sweet friend brought them to me. Thank you, Mary.
Felicia -Reed and I had such a nice visit with you yesterday -and thank you for lunch and the tour!
