Today I’m 75 years old and this book Oh, Susannah! is my gift to myself!
This is Susannah’s baby book and story of her humble beginnings as a rejected twin. Many of you knew her at various ages – when she was a baby she was the picture of sweetness but as she got older she became a cantankerous goat who would butt anybody who got close. I didn’t mention that in the book – haha!
I’m hoping all you grandmas will purchase a book to read to your kiddos. I’ve saved this book reveal for this day, my 75th birthday as the really fun thing I’m doing to celebrate.
The book can be purchased locally at Junkin Gal located on Main Street Garner for $15.00 or it is available by mail for $20.00. I can only accept cash or check made out to me, Mary ETHERINGTON, 2345 Palm Ave. Garner, IA 50438. Tax is included in the price of the book.
Inside your book you’ll find a free pattern for this project which isn’t quilted yet – I know you understand.
I fully intend to add some type of pieced border to each of these projects – it’s on my list of things to do. I know you understand that, too. Haha!
This book journey has been a sweet memory for me as I think my time with Susannah as a baby was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life! There are many pictures with the text so any child who doesn’t read yet can “read” the story through pictures.
I’ve gotten so many birthday greetings it’s humbling at best – thank you to all! But this is my favorite:

I love that card, but oh my, I have tender boobs and the mere thought of kneeling on them brings tears! My younger sister is big breasted and she will joke and pull her pj pants up high and tuck hers in the pants but hopefully hers will never be at her knees!

Remember, age is only a number! I have reached the 80’s and quit counting!
I have so many quilts to make , they’ll have to wait until winter. Now I picked up
another addiction, making junk journals. I love making them but are just as time
consuming as quilting. I have several gardens in the yard to care for too. I don’t
know how I can live long enough! We are living in northern Minnesota, in the woods.
I have been wondering about your book, I have seen (virtually of course) that adorable
goat grow up over the years!

We are currently at my sisters house boat on the Mississippi, celebrating our 51st anniversary. Mary I will be celebrating my 70th birthday later this month. We are so young yet. We have to keep telling ourselves that as we have so much to teach our grandkids.

Just happened to see somebody missed me. I’ve had some computer problems, nothing major, just past my abilities to fix. A good friend was getting their first grandchild — twins. A boy and a girl….. so I was making “I Spy” quilts for them. They were born last Wednesday, 2 girls!! Back to the drawing board. Or could a little girl have a race track on hers? I always pick up cards like that when I am at the card section of a store because I have two friends who I call my “Boob card friends”, who receive one from me every year. They look forward to them. I don’t know if you get “you tube” videos on your TV, but we’ve been watching one that features young goats (maybe 30 or more) all having a great time chasing each other around, on top of hay bales, pushing each other off and hopping around like “wild hooligans”(as my Scottish grandmother would say). Just having enormous fun cavorting around the barn. Boy, are they cute! Sounds like it might be boring to watch, but it’s a hoot! They are so adorable. And each successive video shows them getting a wee bit bigger, which is fun to watch. Anyway, enjoy your day!🤪 – and spoil yourself (eat lots of cake as calories don’t count on your birthday!!🤗

I have read your blog about nothing for years . Started when you still had the quilt store . It’s one of e things I look for first .My sister got your book with the bullseye quilt and sent it to me . I used to have 3 gals come to my house every Monday for stitch and blab . We just worked on whatever , all made the bullseye all different , and didn’t get pictures (rats ) have one of mine which I will send you a picture when I figure out how .
