Notice the pathway I had to make through the plants.

P.S. Tomorrow morning I’m going to Tom Tusha’s funeral who died very suddenly at age 61. Tom is Tim’s younger brother. Our community is in shock. On Wednesday I’m playing for the funeral of a 50 year old man from our church who simply died for no apparent reason.

I am truly enjoying all the Christmas decorations and of course Mortie. I put a cat tower in front of my sliding glass door and on the deck I have set up some feeders. It keeps 3 kittens amused some what. we have snow and real cold here in the Shenandoah Valley Va. Carolyn b
Mary, thank you for taking the time to put together another “reel” of seasonal pictures. I especially like the collection of creche scenes. They reminded me of the dime store “Christmas People” gifted to my children when they were young. I think I still have Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus and one angel. For some reason the wise men and their camels wandered off, and the shepherds and sheep went back to the hills. That would mean the gap in the pocket doors was filled with things other than Legos and My Little Pony toys. I wonder if the next owners found everything. Memories!
Adding my wishes for peace to the families and friends who lost loved ones. Mary, you have created such a caring community. Thank you. Kris in WI
Such fun seeing the different decorations and quilts. I just finished my decorating last evening. Christmas is my favorite to decorate for.
Sorry to hear farmer Tim’s brother died. It is a sad anytime but especially close to holidays. My Mom died December 22, 1996 and every year it brings sadness. Prayers for all the families that lost a loved one.
All the Christmas decorations are so beautiful. The log cabin Santa ornaments are clever and cute! The picture from Hank’s mom’s place looks so serene and peaceful. Thanks to everyone for sharing and Mary for the inspiration.
Love the pictures of the jungle cat, Mortie, too
So sorry for the sadness in your community, Mary.
Another winning entry! Love the pictures, the Halloween quilt was a surprise! Yep, done should be celebrated. Love the path, watching the kitties is almost as fun as watching the birds. I have a trap in my basement, above a window and one of the barn cats comes in to check it daily. This morning it was snapped, I didn’t realize the mouse was only caught by it’s foot. Sid was adamant he wasn’t going to let me open the trap, I think the foot is still there! We will all be thinking of you as you pay your respects to the departed.
Dee thanks for the comment and yep done is a plus. Now I have to decide how to quilt it. But might be on the back burner for a while as I have several quilts that should be quilted. My goal is to start something new and to then finish an UFO waiting for a finish. Wish me luck!
The Christmas decoration photos are wonderful – so many quilting designs using the colors of the season! Thank you all for sharing. Maybe my decorations will be done by tomorrow and I can send a few pictures.
Continued prayers for the families with sudden loses this season. So heartbreaking. Mary, your playing will soothe the spirit at the services.
Fabulous photos! They are stirring some inspiration in me which is good since I need to get busy decorating for Christmas!
I’ll be thinking of you while you play for those funerals – I’m sure your music will be appreciated by the families and friends. It’s always tough… but particularly losing young folks at this time of year.
I would love to know about the red and white table topper with the stars and the galvanized looking trees on top. Name of pattern or the maker so I could maybe contact. Thanks. It is a hard time for me right now too. Last week I lost my dad. He wasn’t young be any means, at 93! It’s a hard loss for me and kinda changes my Christmas spirit this year.
Debbie sorry for your loss. It doesn’t matter their age they are still a big part of who we are and what we’ve become. But we still have the memories. Take care.
Thank you, Rita. I have a lot of memories made. I was very close to my dad.
Debbie – we are all so sorry to hear about your dad! Accept our sympathy – 93 is a long lived life! And it doesn’t matter how young or old – he was still your dad.
Pattern is by Country Threads – I’ll do a search and find it.
Thank you, Mary. No rush! I may even have it in my stash but searching through my Country Threads patterns will be a project for another day. I appreciate your kind words. My memories are many and they will help me through my sadness.
Debbie, I’m so sorry for your loss. Loosing a family member at this time of year is difficult as we try to push through. Hopefully you can surround yourself with loved ones. I will keep you in my prayers.
Thank you, Martha. For me, one day at a time. So many things to do to help my mom right now. My so sons are my rocks right now. Thanks for the prayers.
Debbie, first I am so sorry for your loss. When my dad passed it was so hard, and so hard on my mom as he was her everything.
I too really like the quilt and the tin trees. Mary I’m not surprised it’s a country threads pattern, even the fabrics look like reds you would have used. Very pretty.
I really like seeing all the decorating. So beautiful! Thank you Mary for posting all these pictures and thank you to everyone for sending the pictures to Mary to share with us.
Thanks Teresa. Trying to take care of myself and also keep a close eye on my mom. It’s a big change for her at 96 years old. My folks were married almost 71 years!
Yes, it is a sad time for Garner to lose these men at such a young age. I grieve for their families. I lost my father in December these many years ago, but he was 84. Farmer Tim, I am so sorry for your loss.
So sorry for the sadness and grief. I am no stranger to grief at Christmas–my hubby of nearly 50 yrs died Dec. 21,, Solstice, in Alaska.
Loved all the quilts and how they are used for decorating for Christmas. I do the same thing.
I have a retreat in Elk Horn, IA Thursday thru. Sunday. So today and tomorrow I am busy prepping for that. I have soup to make, as well as Jello salad and puffed corn sweet treat. I would like to cut a new project but doubtful I can fit that in.
So sad to hear of these young folks passing especially at this time of the year when everyone is in the spirit of the holidays. Coming from a community like yours where everyone knows the loved one it seems more affected. In big cities most will say”such a shame” and go about their lives but it is hard in smaller places because each are part of the family. May you and the families feel the love of the community around them
I really enjoyed all the pictures of the holiday decorations on all these holiday posts! But I noticed that I stopped and stared at the picture with the cutglass window layered behind the tree and church. That window is just so beautiful, serene and calming to me. I’m sure it is much appreciated by the owner. Thank you so much everyone, for all these beautiful Christmas photos!
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Tim’s brother and the other young man. It must be hard to play at those services, but I am sure they appreciate your playing. There will be a Celebration of life on December 27 for our dear friend’s daughter, age 54. All of us are very, very sad, too.
Tina W. in Oregon, we have the same Jim Shore nativity set and angel. I have many more, large and small.
It is always fun to see the inside and outside decorations from others. The quilts, the scenes, the trees–all are beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to share them with us, Mary.
I love that your kitties have their “cat TV”! Praying for your community at the loss of family/friends, especially during the holiday season. Thank you for sharing all the readers’ photos – lots of inspiration!
Such sadness this special time of year to be attending funerals of loved ones. My sympathies to all the families saying their goodbyes.
You have the same birdies as I do at your feeders. I have baby blue jays which makes me happy to see life go on.
Thank you for sharing Christmas decorations for all of us to see. It means a lot to enjoy the cheer in people’s homes. We need all the brightening up we can find.
So young for these men to pass away and so very sad for the families especially at this time!
The quilts and scenes are outstanding! The Santa potholder is too cute!
Mortie seems like such a sweet girl, carving a path for her shows she picked the right human to be her Mom!
All the lovely Christmas decorations are really getting me in the Christmas spirit! Thanks to everyone for sharing. God bless the men who have passed. Always sad, but especially so at this time of year.
It is so sad hearing about the two young men who passed, one being Farmer Tim’s brother. Condolences for their families and your community.
The lovely holiday displays of quilting and family treasures are just beautiful.
Mortie has a wonderful life; she can enjoy the outdoors and wildlife from the warm side of those great windows. I love how you made paths through the plants; Mary, you are the best fur baby mom!🥰
Thanks for the blog.
Oh, Mary, such sadness at this Christmas time. I’ll keep you in my thoughts these next few days. Thank you for sharing all these Christmas photos they really inspire me.
I love the photo from Hankster’s place!!!!! So lovely and so simple. And I love Mortie!!!! He is such a cute cat.
