Congratulations to Houston

I loved this World Series – especially game 5 which lasted until 12:30 am!  I can’t imagine how Houston will be celebrating this morning but it sounds fun!  Congratulations to everyone in Houston – and their Astros!

Difficult decision to make…watch the Astros in LA on tv or go to preview night at the quilt festival in Houston…got into the show at 5 pm with International Quilt Association membership and swirled in all the colors until 8:30, drove home, and watched the Astros WIN! A great night all around!

We are so excited for the Astros win last night; we watched most of the post season playoff games leading up to the World Series – what an exciting Series!!! Now onto the college football – go Gophers and Hawkeyes!!!

I’ve been an Astros fan for years (the good ones and the bad ones – I always feel like their mother when they’re bad years) but this was really spectacular. After Harvey went through and left devastation behind him, it was just amazing to see the Astros everywhere – talking to kids and people who had lost their homes and handing out all kinds of wonderful to everyone. They really engage with their fans and contributed in many ways (not the least of which was giving their presence and taking their personal time with their fans and the kids). It’s a great city which stretches out for miles and miles and everybody considers themselves Texans, no matter where you’re from. (I will admit that the highlight of my late night after the win was watching Carlos Correa propose to his girlfriend – loved it!)

I, too, rooted for the Astros, but on the other hand, I rooted for the Dodgers as well. Both teams were equally matched and that made the series so exciting. I am a transplanted Texas, living in California, so whoever won was fine by me. The fact that this team represents a city that was devastated by a hurricane made me realize how much winning by their team would bolster their spirit, giving them another reason to keep their pursuit of rebuilding on an inspiring upward move. Great teams and a great sport make for a good combination to watch them play ball!

It was one of the best series ever. I was happy to see the Astro’s win. And even better with John Smoltz calling the game and Brian McCann behind the plate. Reminded me of the days the Atlanta Braves were in contention.

Hi from Houston and the quilt show. The big Astros parade is Friday afternoon . We have no idea what that is going to with the traffic as our hotel is not downtown but the show is. Yikes.

SO HAPPY for Houston. I’m a Rangers fan but the other TX team made it and went all the way. Fantastic. So sorry for the Houston football team–they’re really having bad things happen to them. 🙁

We live in Texas and loved watching the World Series and rooting for the Astros!!! Sarah, my oldest daughter works in Houston, said they celebrated by letting out all the schools tomorrow, Friday, for the parade !!! She said Astro shirts were everywhere and everyone was in such a good mood!

So happy the Astros won. Proud that the team stood with hands or caps over hearts for the anthem. I was at HIQF last eve and updates on the game were given on the loudspeaker. Many of the attendees were following the game on their phones. So many were not Houston people but cheered anyway. They were happy for the home town winners. Togetherness! A good night!
