Here are pictures of Connie’s purchases yesterday. Admire and drool, Friends!
Wasn’t that fun?
Here are the latest Dirty Dozen quilts:
This embroidered center piece was done by Sue’s mother-in-law.
Lynn’s quilt is completely hand pieced and hand quilted by her!
This reminds me of MY waistline right now after all the baking and eating during the pandemic! When will the diet begin?
So many photos today – wasn’t that fun? A virtual shopping spree at Connie’s expense. I’ll post my purchases tomorrow!
What an amazing haul. You two must have shopped till you dropped. Wish I had been there too.
All those pretties!
I want that coffee cup pattern. Is that Lori Holt?
Shopping! I remember shopping!
Modern Mugs and Good Morning Mugs are both patterns by Lori Holt, and available at Fat Quarter Shop.
thanks!
Yes, that’s a Lori Holt Kit. Sew cute! No, I don’t have it but wish I did. I thought it was a little pricey for a small table runner/table topper. JMO. I see Connie got it on sale I think for 30% off — much better price! 😉
Fun. Shopping. Beautiful quilts by all. Still working on clean up. So many trees. Also have to be careful driving as limbs are still coming down in the wind.
Love Connie’s haul! I can’t wait to see yours! Lovely dirty dosen finishes, too!
Connie and Mary sure had fun. I have been busy using up the piles of fabric I have. Guess I need to get out and boost the economy. More fun. Will be looking for the finishes from the shopping day.
fun haul and look forward to your haul and the new quilts……
Let the fun begin!! Can’t wait to see what comes of Connie’s haul!
Does the driver put her bags on her side of the car and the other behind the passenger seat? Do you and Connie have the same taste in fabrics and colors? That is fabric we don’t have out here, that I know of. Really like the fabric in the first picture. The hand sewn and quilted quilt is beautiful. How long did it take to make? You done good!!
Thanks for the compliments. Pieced the top about 6 years ago then had to put it away when our daughter got engaged and had to make a wedding quilt. I got it out about 18 months ago and finally finished this week. Mary’s dirty dozen was just what I needed. I also hit the 1,000 mark for making masks this week. It has been a good week.
Lynn Lahr – 1000 masks????? Holy smokes!!!!
All the finishes are so inspiring!
Lynn, your quilt is so awesome! I am making my first hand pieces quilt now, Glitter by Jen Kingwell. So enjoyable, but like you, had to put it aside for a while to make a commissioned quilt.
I’m sure it won’t compare to what you have done. Great job.
Betty Klosterman – we open up the side door of the van where I don’t have a seat and throw it all in there together – such fun!
Oooh I see so many fabrics that would be so fun to play with! It looks like y’all had a lot of fun on your fabric accumulation trip!
I love the bench with the quilt runner and oh my that hand pieced and quilted quilt – impressive!
I can’t wait to see your purchases tomorrow!
Wow! Enjoyed the “haul”. Looking forward to yours, Mary. Almost as good as shopping myself. Love all the finishes! Busy people! Thanks for sharing.
Fun to see all the fabric choices and imagine what they will become. Love all the quilt finishes. Such talented and imaginative people. Love the goat too. Haha aren’t we all feeling a little like that!
I’m drooling! Love all of Connie’s fabrics and can’t wait for the quilt shops to fully open here. Loved the DDs. Can’t wait to see what you bought Mary.
Yes Connie’s fabrics are awesome. Can’t wait to see yours. Dee
Beautiful fabric colors and design. Really makes me want to go shopping. Love all the finishes this month. a very skillful group. Blessings to all.
Do you know what the kitty with the flowers is called and who makes it. I love all the beautiful fabrics but the kitty fabric won my heart.
Glad you both had a good time.
The kitty with flowers fabric is from Cotton and Steel, screen printed in Japan for RJR Fabrics, designer Itsuko Naka, collection name and description: Neko and Tori.
Wanda D – thank you! I thought it was Japanese but didn’t realize it was Cotton and Steel.
Ginny – I’m quite sure the kitty fabric is a Japanese print – found out it’s Cotton and Steel
Looking at all of the shopping spree fabrics, besides drooling, I am over joyed with all the small prints. So glad they are back because they have always been my favs. Ginny…I love the kitty fabric, too.
All the finishes are wonderful, but Lynn…yours is absolutely awesome. I hope you plan to enter that one in a show when we get to have shows again.
That Goat!!! Hilarious! Hopefully she is pregnant with quads.
Sue in Oregon – nobody’s pregnant on this farm!
Connie’s fabrics are awesome! Love that you 2 have also moved away from the “dark side” to brighter, clearer colors. I have too! I’m loving the fresh, cheery colors, especially in this dismal year of 2020! 😉
Love the show ‘n tell from your fans! The lady that did the hand piecing & hand quilting deserves a blue ribbon for her work. 🏅Stunning quilt! Bravo!
Mary, your goat picture reminds me of me too. Way too much eating during this crazy, stressful 2020 year! I had lost 70+ pounds in 2018 with a lot of hard work & discipline. Since I’ve gained 50 lbs back mostly this year, I’m so disgusted & mad at myself that I just keep eating. I’m a sweet junkie — mostly cookies & brownies & candy. Ugh! My dr. tells me I’m too stressed out and anxious to worry about my weight right now. It’s not the time. Perhaps 2021 will be a better more peaceful year. 🙏🤞
And now a major Cat 4 Hurricane is about to hit Lousiana with an UNSURVIVABLE storm surge that may go 50 miles inland. Lord, let’s all pray they have evacuated because they can’t survive it. 😥🙏
Jan from TN – let’s all go on a diet together!!!
Thanks, Mary, for the show and tell on Connie’s purchases. Oh, what to start first! I just love the fabric piece with the cat in among the tulips and other flowers. I haven’t been in a quilt store since…forever and this surely makes me want to go. Curious to know if you and Connie do what my sister and cousin and I do in every quilt store we frequent. We always declare a winner, and it’s the person who spends the most in that particular quilt store. We just do it for a laugh and to rib each other. I’ve often been the winner!
Looking forward to your haul tomorrow. I loved the picture of your goat on the table. It’s a great shot. Take care.
The DD pictures are wonderful, and kudos to Lynn for a beautiful quilt and fine craftsmanship. The quilt is awesome.
Sunflower from Michigan – I haven’t been in a big quilt shop for over 5 years so I was definitely the winner!! Connie travels and she visits shops wherever she goes – so her updated palette is much more complete than mine which was non-existent until yesterday!
That is a great shopping spree. I’ll take the second pile for a bird quilt I am starting—lol. The stuffed #3 I made is supposed to be a chinchilla. I gave it to our grand daughter when she left for college because Stormy didn’t get to go with her and she misses him. 🐭. Hot here.
Diane, the chinchilla is adorable! I love it!
Good choice by sopping. Wonderful all photos.
Barkat – we’d all love to see what fabrics YOU sew with! PLEASE send a picture!
Sue in Oregon, I love your friend quilt with the red bird!!
Mary, looks like you and Connie had a great day traveling and shopping. Love seeing the new fabrics, they’re all so cute. Can’t wait to see what Connie has planned for the black and white prints with the single bit of color.
Connie looks completely exhausted and now I know why. We are howling at the picture of the chunky goat! The pandemic seems to have given us permission to eat whatever makes us happy and why not? There will be time later for thinner eating after things are better, if that ever happens.
Pat Smith – I feel just like that chunky goat – haha!!!
Out here we’re calling it “the COVID 25”!
Love, love, love all the pictures today.
3 bags from one store…testaments to being cooped up way too long. I’m glad you had such good fun.
How fun! I love the kitty fabric! In fact, I love them all! Can’t wait to see your haul tomorrow! Thanks for the virtual shopping! LOL
Hi Mary, love Diane and squeeks toy, I am knitting finger puppets to go in charity Christmas stockings at present and trying to finish myDD 5.Love the comment that no one is pregnant on the farm! Are you sure??? Take care, best wishes from sandy
Sandy – yes, I’m very sure no one is pregnant here on the farm! No Billy on site! All cats and dogs are fixed and nobody is setting on eggs – I’m positive!
What a great blog today! I had fun looking at Connie’s purchases. I cannot wait until I can actually go into a quilt shop and SHOP!
Love the blog post today….such fun!!
The kitty fabric is my favorite 🙂
sandy
I love that background fabric. Paula in KY
What wonderful fabric and all those neutrals, wow! I really admire your willingness to hand quilt that lovely quilt Lynn, its stunning. I had a good chuckle over the goat and the comments about extra pounds during the pandemic. What a fun road trip, looking forward to see what you bought Mary
Wonderful fabrics and beautiful quilts!! Lynn your quilt is awesome!!
Just subscribed to your newsletter and have been a fan of your work for quite some time.
Jaw dropped when I saw Lynn’s hand-pieced quilt. I am a big fan of hand sewing. Is there a pattern? or Lynn’s own? Grubers is only 1 hr. drive from the lake for me. Love their selection. Your purchases were beauties and you made my girls road trip purchases look silly. lol Love the fact that the vehicle floor is adorned with a quilt also.
Jeanne W – Edyta Sitar pattern
Oh my, no wonder I like it. Is there a name?
OMG, that show was a good way to start my day. Definitely eye candy. Connie, enjoy your beautiful fabric!
Mary, you are the person I enjoy having breakfast with!
Loved the treasures Connie discovered.
Loved all the Dirty Dozens.
Thank you!
Wow, what wonderful array of fabrics! I can’t wait to see what you ladies create. So glad you go out and shop. Enjoy!
You inspired me to go off to my local quilt shop before I saw your purchase and I too bought some polka dots like Connie has in her haul. What happiness it gives me to to see the various colors all folded up lookin at me. Can’t wait to see what she makes with the text prints, they are my most recent passion too but all I am doing is collecting them right now! Ha!!
Carol in Memphis – your gorgeous red and white/cream snowball quilt is what I am working on right now too!!!! So fun to see one done. I can’t wait to lay my blocks out and play with the placement. During stressful times, sewing the little corner blocks to a square has been calming.
All I can say is WOW to all the August dirty dozen finishes. Each one is unique and so beautiful! Love all of Connie’s fabric. When our WI stitching guild would travel by bus to the MN quilt show in Owatonna we would stop at Gruber’s on the way home. Mind you Gruber’s would have a huge booth at the show and we had all been up since 5:00 that morning plus walking around the show for 7 hours. But when it was announced that we were stopping at Gruber’s, we all acted like we hadn’t seen fabric for months! Fun times.
If there are any special fabrics wanted from Connie’s haul check out ONLINE @ Gruber’s Quilt Shop online. I certainly did. $12.95 a yard! I can do a little less for some elsewhere! I like Fabric Shack as they will cut 1/8 yards. Another Online Only wonderful store is BEAR CREEK in Oregon. They carry AuriFil threads. I just purchased a trio of 50 weight $10 off and it was mailed next day!
Launa – sounds like you’ve got some quilt plans ahead of you, too!
Love the pix of the fabric goodies! And the goat…
Store is looking good! Keep writing and posting; we all love to hear from you every day.
Wow, Connie sure had fun – and bought wonderful fabrics and patterns! She will be busy.
Love seeing the great DD finishes – soon we get to find out what’s next!
Oooh, Launa, thanks for the online shopping information! My favorite shop isn’t open yet for in person shopping. But some retail shops have opened finally! Went thrift shopping with a friend this week, so nice to be out and about again. Loved Connie’s haul, can’t wait to see what she does with it. Looking forward to seeing yours Mary! Lynn that is an amazing quilt! And my favorite picture today was the goat! Omg, talk about being a little overweight! Laughing out loud! I will diet with you Mary and Jan from TN! Got to get rid of my Covid25! Jan in MA
