Connie loves house blocks of any kind and she had her Bernina humming while she was in Florida last March. I simply do not know or understand how she combines these fabrics. The blocks are wonderful and I could never do it. I wish I had a little stash just like this to make house blocks with – of course, what am I thinking? I don’t have time to sew right now.
Don’t you just love it? I do! Here’s a close up of a section.
And here’s a photo of two blocks that I teased you with yesterday.
Isn’t this the wildest collection of fabrics and they all work together so well. I am jealous of the ability and confidence to put them all together.
The pattern is by Miss Rosie – called Village. Love her colors, too.
I’ll add this to my wish list – how about you?

Time for a chick update – they are getting their feathers and getting so big! They are ready to start roosting at night because they like to sit on a cement block in their pen. Watching these little girls grow has been amazing. Reed came to do chores tonight.
Just look at this assortment!
Reed’s hens, Debbie and Delores, went home with him tonite. His coop is ready and the baby chicks just aren’t old enough to survive without a heat lamp. When they are and can move to Reed’s house, Debbie and Delores will have to come back here. They are somewhat aggressive and will peck at the babies.
Oh, it’s been a busy day – as usual. Lawn mowing will start full time this week and then it will soon be time to till the garden.
Hi Mary, Thank you for sharing Connie’s Village houses. I bought this pattern several weeks ago as I was gifted with Kaffee Fassett jelly roll. I have several projects in progress so it will be awhile before I get to the houses. Love seeing the baby chicks and Reed. Glad the weather is improving for you.

I too wish I had the gene to look at fabrics and know they’ll all work together. I sure do admire that talent in other’s. Connie’s quilt is adorable and you really appreciate the amount of time that went into it when you see the close up and all the pieces. Thanks for sharing it with us, Mary.
Nice to see an update of the chicks too. We used to have chickens and I miss going to the post office to pick up the boxes of chicks. Reed is a very capable young man. I enjoy seeing him learning about life and sewing at your side.
Love Connie’s quilt , the colors are terrific kudos to her .
The chicks are a bonus , thanks for sharing .
Yes I love Connie’s quilt. You two are an amazing pair – no wonder you write such good quilting books together!
Thanks for sharing the fascinating house quilt with us. Is it scraps or did she use a charm pack or jelly roll? I love using my scraps for quilts. This weekend there is a cookie crumb shop hop here so I will look for the pattern at the quilt stores we visit. We get cookies, a recipe, and a pattern for a pot holder or mug rug at each shop so will be fun. I need a distraction from all the yard work here waiting. I drive myself crazy wanting to get things all done and reality tells me it can’t happen anymore.
Kathy – I’ll ask Connie but I’m sure it’s collected yardage – no themed collections such as a specific charm pack or jellyroll
Thanks for checking with her. I always seem to gravitate towards scrap quilts. It’s nice to see patterns where they work well.
Just love Connie’s quilt – how much fun is that. What a big quilt too. She is amazing. Reed is so cute and it is fun to see the chicks getting bigger. Yes, you are so very busy with everything that I just can’t imagine how you can do it all. YOU are really the amazing one!!!
Womens work is never done! Paula in KY
Love Connies houses. House blocks are my favorite too.
Don’t know where you get the energy to do all you do. You love what you do. Makes a difference. The chicks are going to be wonderful assortment. My best to Rick. Sounds like he’s healing well. Love that Reed. Anita Fetzer
House quilt is so colorful and awesome! Chicks are adorable…so is Reed!
Wonderful to view our friend, Reed, there helping with the chicks. I think he would enjoy the deer that were visiting here in my Idaho yard this morning. More are coming from the mountain each day now.
Connie is a master coordinator with fabrics in her wee houses scrap quilt. So nice to see it. A colorful way to start this sunny Tuesday; thanks to you, Mary.
Love seeing the baby chicks. I wonder, do the dark chicks lay brown eggs? (Can you tell I’m a city gal?) It’s amazing to see Connie’s quilt. That would take me years to make.
Reed and your chicks are so cute. There sure are lots of colors!! Connie’s quilt looks like the houses in the Bahamas. It is very pretty. I hope Rick is doing well. It sounded like he is ahead of schedule. Is it warmer out there? 79 in Central Ohio today.
That’s a lot of houses, cute! Tomorrow I’ll get to see my friend’s chicks, I think she got them about the same time you and Reed got yours. Your stories and pictures are always so interesting, Mary, I look forward to every one of them.
I love seeing what you and Connie on working on. The house quilt is beautiful. Thanks for letting us into your life. My sister lives on a farm and the work there is never done. I’m amazed at how much you accomplish: indoors, outdoors, and sewing. God’s blessings to you and Rick.
Love the quilt and I have TONS of scraps sooooooooooooo just ordered the pattern!!! Love the progress of the chicks!
