July 1, 2013
It’s time for 2 more blocks for your Free Online Quilt Sampler. The block for July is fun because it looks complicated but it’s really not. The color photos should help with fabric choices. For the 6″ block we used two different reds for all 4 spools. For the 12″ block we used 3 different fabrics in 3 different colors. Have fun with this one!
Here’s a picture of the 6″ block for July:

Thank you for sharing this pattern for free. I make the two blocks the first of each month as soon as you post them. It so much easier to do a BOM this way. This way I never have to play catch-up. 🙂
I’m finally all caught up with my blocks! yay! I didn’t make the pinwheels for the 6 inch block this month. I’m pinwheeled out. So I did 4-patches instead.
By the way, could you give us a clue about ALL the HST’s that will be needed to finish the quilt? I’d love to get started on making some of them now, instead of waiting until the end to do them all. Please???
I was surfing the 2013 BOM’s and stumbled upon your site. What a nice quilt and will be catching up on the blocks. Is there a post about the amount of fabric needed to complete this quilt? Thanks for the free pattern.
There are no fabric requirements-I did it all from scraps.
I have been reading all of the past posts for this year, downloaded the BOM sampler patterns and am inspired to finish UFO’s ( we call them PTF’s… Projects To Finish..as we think it has a nicer ring to it!!!) Anyway just a thank you to you Mary for such a great glimpse into life at the Farm and just love all the posts regarding what you are up to. I thought I was busy!!! I feel like I am back home in Iowa when I read it. I am now transplanted to So California…30 yrs ! Yikes! Will be doing my own version of Connie’s game since I am starting so late in the yr. And also need to get with it and catch up on the sampler quilt.
Appreciatively, Michelle H
