Fun On the Farm, 6-10-2020

Gotta stop the barn story and post yesterday’s pictures – Sam and her two kids and Emma (the bread baker) and her three kids visited yesterday afternoon. Owen brought his new bike – he can ride without training wheels at age 4!

We rode the wilderness trail, explored the barn, looked at the animals, gathered the eggs, and started cleaning the playhouse – which I will finish today. Sam helped me secure Daddio’s pen outside the quilt shop. Daddio had to move to the kennel because the other roosters pick on him so bad – I couldn’t watch it anymore. I’m going to move his gal pal in with him.

After playing and working hard it was time for snacks in the porch.

Ivy explored the playhouse as we cleaned it out.

I never want to take the “before” picture because it’s such a mess but once it’s all cleaned up I’m always sorry.

Here it is “in progress”.

I have my work cut out for me today!

Be Still – at all times – working or relaxing!

That picture of you with the kids is priceless Mary. That little guy on the front seat looks like he’s ready got a nap 💤
What a fun day you all had. Wish I could join you.

Mary: That story about yesterday and the accompanying photos reminded me so much of when my children were little and they would be invited to visit their Aunt Mary and Uncle Naaman’s lovely farm outside Grundy Center, Iowa. We were “city folk” so a trip to the farm was a treat for all of us. Even though aunt and uncle are now gone, we still talk about those fun days and what they learned during their visit.

So fun to see the driver enjoying the play n work day, too! Plenty of fun Making Memory things to do!
    Thanks for sharing, Mary!

I would love to be there for snacks and helping where I can . I don’t know how you do it, guess 1 day at a time. Thanks for the post, always love seeing what’s happening at Country Threads

You were so very lucky to have what looks like a perfect day. I remember my visits to the farm of my aunt & uncle in northern Iowa and the wonderful memories I have. I was impressed with the pump in the kitchen and frightened about the out house being afraid I’d fall in the hole. (That part not so wonderful.) You can tell that was a long time ago. Maybe 80 years ago. Another aunt & uncle had a dairy farm which is always interesting for children.

Oh wow!! What a fun day. I LOVE the picture with all of you on the golf cart and some of the kids making faces like we used to love to do!! The playhouse looks like so much fun. I am happy for Daddo. Bullies of all kinds are just nasty! He’s lucky to have you, Mary:) Thanks for the fun pics! Beautiful day here:)

OH Mary!! It looks like y’all had so much fun!! What I wouldn’t give to be there with you!! And I bet cleaning out the playhouse was fun too. Did you find any treasures? Today has actually been laundry day for me and trying to catch up on chores around the house since I was down, but it is slow going and thats fine with me… still I say…….

Brenda in SC – since I’m still “death cleaning” I have come across many things I will take to our booth at Junkin Gal – made one trip already this morning!

Yes! Fun at the farm. Chores are there every day, kiddos are not. Looks like everyone had a great time.

What a happy bunch of faces to see today! Great photo of all of you on the golf cart even if the little guy is ready to nap. Playhouses are so much fun as I loved the one my dad built me 60 years ago. I pulled everything out and rearranged it all the time depending whether I was a mom, teacher, librarian or baker that day. Always found something to fill it back up with. Glad you enjoyed the moment and opened your home to a fun day. We made our first trip to Walmart since end of February and it wasn’t busy at all but what struck us was how much is not on shelves. No bikes at all on the racks! Nor printer ink, but that’s due to so many still working from home in our area.

Mary just loved the smile on your face, you are absolutely beaming!!! I am glad you had such a good day & enjoyed company.
    Cleaning never ends does it!!!

Nikki m – it was really fun but I was exhausted that night – listening to 5 little kids is exhausting!

Suddenly I’ve stopped receiving emails when you publish a new post. Not sure if it’s just me.

Teresa. – try resubscribing again. Others have had this problem but nobody seems to know how to fix it – including me.

Deb – I’m. It sure what Reed is doing – he doesn’t come to the farm anymore.

      1. Deb

So sorry but I’m glad you have other lively guests to bring excitement. I love it when our grands come over. Life is so good even in the stillness!

Oh! What a fun day! Absolutely love the picture of all of you on the golf cart… silly faces and all! Life is good!

You are the busiest and most productive person I know!!!! You get sooooooo much done!! My house would be spotless if I was half as productive as you are!!

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Diane Bauer – oh, I rarely clean my house! Haha! There are so many other things I’d rather do!!!

  16. Susan k from Texas

It looks like you had a great time even if it was cleaning! Having company is so much more special now that we’ve been staying away from people for so long. My sister and her two kids are coming tomorrow to see my yard and visit. I’m excited to see them.

Will Daddio like being away from the other chickens (even with his girlfriend)? I’m not real familiar with chickens. And a four year old riding bike with no training wheels is pretty impressive.

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Susan K – Daddio is so intimidated now that he prefers staying inside the kennel – poor guy! I put him outside yesterday and he stuck his head under the entry step as far as he could get it! So scared!
