George, 8-3-2020

I picked George up at the shelter, Patriots For Pets, last Friday and today I’m returning him there to meet his new owners – Joan and her husband from Clear Lake who reads this blog! Isn’t this just the greatest connection? She had seen poor old sad George last week at the shelter and could not get him out of her mind. Then – she reads my blog post about George! Could it be the same dog? She emailed me – YES, it’s the same George she couldn’t forget! So today she and her husband are adopting George and I couldn’t be happier for all of them. Honestly if he had stayed here much longer, I would have had to keep him! He is such a great dog – I do think his hearing as well as his eyesight is impaired but not gone. He has just fit in here with virtually no trouble at all.

George deserves a comfortable life – I wish he could tell us what he’s been through but we’d all be too upset. I’ll take a picture of him with his new family this afternoon! I hope I don’t cry.

So happy for George! And Mary, speaking of adoptions and dogs- are you going to add the “Don’t shop – Adopt” pattern to the pattern offerings? I want to do it for my sister as a Christmas gift (I think she must be on every animal shelter’s donation list in the country!). I know she would love the quilt and if I get started soon, I might have a chance of getting it done! Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks.

SO happy for George, and a bit sad for you! Sounds like they will love him for the rest of his (and their) lives, which is as it should be.

Tears here. I am so happy for George! It was just a year ago I had to give my two babies up for adoption. He does look older than 6 years old. He will be happy. Thanks again for your caring heart 💕. Have a great week!

I am beyond deliriously happy for George and his new family! Thanks be to God and to you, Mary, for stepping in and helping animals like George find good homes. If George can find comfort and peace in his new home during his final years, that is making our world a much better place! Amen and amen!

Yay for George. What a lucky dog to be found by two kind hearted ladies. You may not cry, Mary but your story made me have happy tears for George.

Thank you Mary for continuing your crusade to help and love animals. If you hadn’t found Angel for me, I would still be mourning my little Pooh Bear. Tell the new owners to be patient and loving to George. They need to remember every day that George went through a terrible ordeal and that he’s scared and confused. They need to love him with all their heart and they will be loved in return unconditionally.

  21. Sandy

Nothing could be better than hearing about George’s new home. These things don’t just happen – we should pay attention! I think some may call this a “God wink”! And, that tells you how many Hallmark movies I have watched lately!

    Mary, thank you!! ❤️

    AND YOU!!!

Happy news for George. I’m so glad he’s going to a good home. In the 42 years we’ve been married we’ve had 4 rescues and 2 purebreds that we bought through reparable breeders as puppies . The 5 who’ve crossed the rainbow bridge were so dearly loved and missed.

  27. Rita in Iowa

Great news about George, you have been a wonderful animal parent. It’s great to hear a good ending to a story. So much is negative and this is such a positive.

  28. Chris B in NWPA

Wonderful news! Thank you for being the help George needed to find his
    new family. Bless you, Mary!

  29. Tammy Guerrero

Thank them for caring for this dear senior pup! God bless him and all those responsible for caring for him! Would love to see him with his new owners!

  30. Beverly

This is the second best news I’ve had today. The first was that all the employees at the nursing facility I work at tested negative for Covid! We were tested about 10 days ago as our Ohio Governor ordered all nursing facilities in the state of Ohio be tested. So this news about George at the end of my day was just perfect. God bless all involved in his adoption!

  31. Janice Hebert

Oh, Beverly! That must be so good to hear. And I am sitting here with tears streaming down my face reading the story of George. I am so glad Joan and her husband are adopting him. Such good news. I don’t think I could be a foster parent but I admire those that can. It’s such an important thing to do. I’d just get attached to each and every one! I’d want to keep them all! Jan in MA

  32. Carolyn Boutilier

Thank you for fostering George and posting his picture. So glad he has a forever home.

  34. Janie Lang

I haven’t made comments for a long time here but I just had to say I’m soooo glad that sweet lady couldn’t get George out of her mind! I think I’d have a hard time fostering. How do you not get attached?❤
