I’ve been following the CBS 60 Minutes story – very surprising and shocking – I gotta get up early to hear more about it.

Seems like dachshunds are still showing up in quilts. I love it when they do! We had two of them for ever do long and they were as mischievous as they were cute! Everyone (except me!) has really shown up for the red, white and blue moments! Thanks to all and Mary for sharing so many fun quilts and animals. I’m loving on the goats!

We always watched 60 minutes when I was a kid and it usually ended with a family conversation about that night’s show. It gave us some really great conversations about happenings in the world and around us. I will miss Scott and will probably give up watching 60 minutes. Truly sad. Wonderful quilts today and the dog one is making me smile and now I want to collect some fabrics with dogs, lol. Wisconsin Shop Hop started here on June 1st and the theme is all about the Wisconsin State Fair, its a great fabric line and I will be adding to my textile collection. We are hoping for some rain, we need it for the crops and lawns.

Wonderful quilt show as always. Thank you everyone for sharing your pictures for us to admire through Mary’s efforts.
When my kiddos were in high school, 60 Minutes was a requirement for them to watch on Sunday nights (and in those days there was no recording to watch it later, no games you had to attend) so you had to and it gave them news they would discuss later in class. Healthy way to get a long. One segment from what I recall about our Monday after school conversations as it was always about 60 minutes and their class, had something about chickens and McDonalds and I don’t remember all the information presented nor wanted to as the kids knew my love for animals but from then on, I only have one kid who will buy fast food from McDonalds after that. The others made a choice not to support them. That’s how we stay informed and make choices.

Kathy – 60 Minutes has also been part of my Sunday for years and years – no longer. All the great women got fired, too! And when I have time I’m going to write you an email – I could use your advice. Later…
Kathy in NY
Mary – I’ll look later for your email. I’m home and not at camp till the weekend.

Despite the mess, it’s a beautiful day here in AZ mountains! Got the hand watering done, the plants in pots have to be watered daily, the pines and juniper natives can usually make it on their own. June is our hottest month, with the regular rains (monsoons) coming in July – hopefully!!! I really enjoy learning about your weather and related activities from you Mary, and your readers from all over the map! Such a beautiful snapshot of the barn and Mortie, or maybe it was Hazel – I feel like they’re all like my pets too! Thanks!

Such great quilts. It is so amazing the talent we have in our quilting community. Thank you all for sharing. As always the animal pictures are always a favorite. How is your Hayrack chicken doing? Mortie looks right at home outdoors with her friends.
We could certainly use rain in our part of Michigan. Our neighbor is mowing hay and said yield is only about half of last year.
Dot in NC
Love the photo of Barney and the hen! And the one of little Dottie.
I hope Mortie’s “one last time outside” was just for the day and not forever. My kitty doesn’t get to go outside, since I live in a neighborhood that’s home to various critters like coyotes, raccoons and an occasional bear. The coyotes are the worst threat.
The quilts today were beautiful. They made me smile and sit up straighter!
I’m also mourning the attacks on all our news sources. Walter Cronkite must be rolling in his grave. But as he would say, “And that’s the way it is.”
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Dot – oh, I forgot about Cronkite’s line – so appropriate! I can’t stand what they’re doing but I do believe it’s all tied into our administration’s desire to be the boss of the world – he’ll want to call it Trump’s Minutes
Carol at Pin Oak Quilting
Oh my gosh, how fitting are Cronkite words this many years later. Unfortunately, how it is now is something I’d guess he’d never had thought would happen. I remember being a little girl in the 50’s and having to watch his show sitting on the floor between my father’s slippered feet. He was reporting on World War II, after the fact; I remember a lot of it being centered on Germany and the mistreatment of so many ethnic groups as well as religious groups and the educated. History has a way of repeating itself when the citizenry are ill-informed. Guessing that it the point of the CBS fall from fair and honest reporting.

Great quilt show, thank you to those who sent the pictures to Mary and thank you Mary for taking the time to post them. I always look forward to seeing the pictures and reading the comments. Have a great day everyone.

Stunning quilts. ❤️. The CBS story seems to be getting worse by the day. I have always thought Scott Pelley to be an exceptional reporter.
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Susan – I think he is truly a great reporter and has been for years! He isn’t about to say what someone higher up wants him to report if he doesn’t believe it.
Sara in Indiana
It’s chilling that 60 minutes management wants to ‘inject falsehoods’ into their reports. The show has lost my respect. I hope all the reporters being let go find another way to keep us informed.
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Sara – I will not bother to ever watch again and will start watching a different morning show as well. CBS will feel the heat if we do this together.
Got your check – are you sure the first check didn’t clear??? I have no notes about this
Fran Dixon SW Iowa
Yes great quilts! Love the patriotic ones!
Don’t know anything about 60 Minutes. What’s it all about?
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Fran – go online and look it up – too much to explain – our president has decided to put a stop to fair reporting
Gail in Ohio
Love the photos – the animals all look happy and the patriotic quilts rock!
I’m also waiting to hear more about 60 Minutes – the first articles I read were not very clear. It seems like a pretty big shake-up – we’ll have to wait and see.

60 minutes has only 4 remaining reporters: Leslie Stahl, Bill Whitaker, Nora O’Donnell, and Jon Wertheim according to what I could find on the internet. What a change!
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Vicki – I think Leslie Stahl is gone as well
Suzanne
I saw a story last night naming three who had decided to stay on. Leslie Stahl was one of them. I can’t believe they can hope to make a difference against the obstacles they face. It’s so discouraging. ~ Suzanne
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Suzanne – I saw that, too, but wonder how much rein they will put on her. And if they do, I hope she leaves, too.
Carol at Pin Oak Quilting
I thought Nora O’Donell was long-gone. Within a week of the election, she was no longer on the show we liked watching. Perhaps I’m mistaken but she disappeared from the CBS Evening News around November 2024. I thought perhaps she left in anticipation of what was to follow. We cut all network shows now, we only have apps. I refuse to pay for lies and deceit.

The quilts are beautiful. What Is 60 Minutes minutes piece that you are watching?
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Shirley – Scott Pelley, who has been with 60 Minutes since it started was fired by the new directors – also the women reporters – management didn’t like his report on our president – don’t you wonder who is actually behind this? I don’t discuss politics on the blog but there are time when I want to.
Joy in NW iowa
Awe, Dottie is so cute! Is that Tim sharing food with the chicken? Mortie is always cute!
The quilts are all so beautiful. Got a kick out of the puppies in the center blocks!
I still have not heard from the gal that schedules surgery, grrrr,
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Joy – oh, that is so typical! You wait and wait – I have another friend waiting on a call from Mayo, too. No Tim – I’m so worried I won’t see him again! He hasn’t been here except for that hour or so visit when I saw he was hurt for over a month. That was Barney who likes the barn in the summer – sharing with the hen. I look for Tim in the woodshed several times every day. Say a little prayer that he’s ok and will come back.
Susan
Beautiful patriotic quilts! I recognize some of the fabrics from my stash! And Dottie….well she is just adorable! Such personality! And 60 Minutes…although I too stopped watching years ago I only pray that we can once again separate politics from independent news. Happy Tuesday!

Love all the patriotic quilts! And as usual, all the animal pix. Dot has to be the cutest goat I’ve ever seen!
Lynette in Orlando
Beautiful quilts!!! Just wow! The patriotic fabric with the pups is too cute! ❤️. That is also the cutest picture of Dottie. I’m not sure what is going on with 60 minutes — I quit watching news a while ago. The past week or so I’ve been watching the French Open while I sew – it’s been amazing tennis this year with most of the top seeds having been eliminated. It’s anyone’s trophy now!

Another day of great quilts!! I love the patriotic dog blocks….too cute!! So sweet of Barney sharing his food.
