It’s a cold Valentines a Day in North Iowa with a strong south wind which means we get blasted. Rick went to the barn this morning to find that one of our LP heaters went off in the night. The little backup heater is trying hard but can’t keep up with that wind. So I’ve called the Coop.
The dogs didn’t want to hang around outside so they’re watching with me.
I was asked if I strip pieced all those little four patch blocks – nope, not even one of the 387 because I had an entire plastic tub full of 1-1/2″ squares and 2-1/2″ squares so I used them. I probably didn’t cut even 40 additional squares. Here’s the two block unit I’ll be working on next.
Sorry it’s sideways! Gotta run – therapy, you know. More later.
Smart dogs!
Send a picture of outside when you get back.
Stay safe and warm. I hope all the critters were ok in the barn.
Happy Valentines Day to all.
I absolutely LOVE the picture of the two dogs looking out the window. Made my day. Thanks for sending it and hope your PT goes well.
Happy Valentine’s Day!!
It is warming up with the sun shining so bright!! If the wind would go down it wouldn’t be so bad.
I like the block you are working on…it should be very nice. I can see this in 30’s prints, I like them though. The soft colors you are using are nice.
Hope all of your little critters can stay warm…30’s tomorrow!! I love the way Hazel and Telly keep an eye on what is happening outside!! They are so attentive!
Have a good therapy session and great weekend!!
The dogs certainly have the right idea! Such a cute photo of them!
We are finally getting some sunshine and nicer temperatures here. It’s been a long winter. Hope you all warm up soon as well!
Happy Valentine’s Day to all!
Happy Valentine’s Day (love your watch dogs!). I’m with you on the precut squares, I have similar bins chock-full to overflowing. 😉 THIS is their year to be used. I have that same quilt from “Sisterhood” earmarked.
Mrs. Goodneedle – I was so happy to whittle down my tubs of little squares – more work but that’s OK.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Mary! ❤️ Stay warm.
Happy Valentine’s Day❤️ It has been pretty wintery here the last few days. It was 8 degrees here this morning when I went out to start my car, had to get my hair cut! The dogs are smart to stay inside. The sun is nice but cold⛄️
So will the Coop bring you a new heater or repair the broken one?
Rosalie – yup – all done. The igniter had gone out so he put a new one in and we’re good to go!
Happy Valentines Day. Love the Sisterhood book.
Why is it, that if something is going to go wrong or stop working it’s always going to happen on the coldest or snowiest of days!!! This coming from a farm Wife/Mom of 40 plus years.
Happy quilting!
Debbie Rosembrook – you’re absolutely right! Why, oh why???
Mary – your dogs fur looks so fluffy. Do you brush them daily? Maybe it’s the food you give them but boy their fur looks so well kept. Adorable picture of them keeping an eye on their property!! Happy Valentine’s Day back to you as well.
Kathy in western NY – I think Rick brushes Telly in the evenings while they watch tv but I don’t even brush Hazel after a bath. I probably should.
Hi Mary…continue on your get well plan as you are “sidelined” for a while. The dogs are so fun looking outside the windows. About the frogs I was making them in the 70’ts as another blog reader mentioned. It is interesting how things repeat “like it is really new.” This afternoon we saw “Little Women” at amc. That was a favorite book all these years. Well, I’m happy we went. I will be anxious to see your current Sister Scrap project completed. Thanks again for all you share with us. Will be interesting to see Connie’s current projects while in Fl. Recently we were on a cruise with the last stop Jamaica. The day temps were in the 80+ …
Smart dogs—looking out but staying in. We had 0 degree weather in VT over the holidays. Our poor dog, Sonny, a little sheltie really suffered. VT is a big dog state for a good reason, and he is FL born and raised. I had to make 3 tries one morning to get him to perform. On one of the tries, he froze in one spot and I had to go get him and carry him into the house or I think he might not have survived. He learned the word “hurry,” finally. So glad the barn heater is fixed. In your winter I’m sure the loss of a heater is considered an emergency call.
Pat Smith – did you see the beautiful Sheltie at Westminster? Just gorgeous! Sonny knows when it’s too cold for man or beast – ha!
GREAT picture of the dogs!!!
Quilt block is very nice.
Cold here and blowing snow.
Telly and Hazel are the cutest! Cold here also. I love your quilt. Thanks for the pictures. Hope the PT is getting easier.
