I know you’re wondering, 7-21-24

I was so sick yesterday and this morning that Rick took me to the ER. I had another CT scan which showed the bleeding has stopped. I got a powerful pain killer and I took one pill at 2:30. It’s now 9 pm and the nausea is just letting up. I don’t know if I can stand to take another.

I need a Pet Scan but I can’t have one until the biopsy is back. And between Mayo and Mercy who knows where it is?

I’m supposed to see my care provider tomorrow but I don’t have one. My original care giver is just plain awful – I have complained about this pain since January and the only thing she has suggested is Pepcid. The nurse practitioner who ordered the cat scan on June 28 won’t even talk to me – I have made numerous calls – no response.

So tomorrow I need to talk to Mayo and find a new doctor although nobody is accepting new patients. And who would want me right now.

I am falling ASLEEP.

Mary, I am so sorry you are in pain and are not being treated well at your doctor’s office. This is just absolutely not acceptable. Keep us informed, as long as you feel up to posting.
    Sending hugs and prayers. 🥰

Oh, Mary, I can’t believe how horrible you have been treated by the health care system! So frustrating! All I know to do is send more prayers your way. Sure hope you get relief from your pain, and find a Doctor who cares.

I really hate hearing about your pain and with all the problems with your doctor and nurse practitioner! Not a fun way to spend your summer with so much outside work to be done. Will keep you in my prayers. HUGS… and stitches

I tried to leave a comment earlier and it didn’t post. There were no other comments at that time, but i see many tonight. Back in business!!!! I hope you get your medical issues resolved soon. Think of you everyday. I hope you are feeling better.

Hi Mary – I hope you find a health care provider that you are comfortable with. I am sure you are not someone who complains a lot – you need a provider that will listen to your concerns. Do you have a family member, friend, or someone from your church that works in the health care field in your area that could provide you with a referral? My daughter works in a hospital in my area and when I told her I needed to find a primary care physician she gave me the name of a doctor that older patients were happy with. I am very pleased with his care and the way I am treated when I have a concern. As far as your missing biopsy I think that is inexcusable. Someone needs to take the time to track that down and find the answers you need. Hoping you get some answers immediately.

Prayers raised for relief from your pain and for some answers ~SOON! Sending big hugs~

My earlier comment didn’t post, but that part looks good now. I’m so sorry you have been feeling worse. I hope you get some resolution to your primary care issue and get your results soon. Maybe you have a family member or friend you can take with you to ask questions and document answers when you’re not feeling well. Prayers continuing.

Oh Mary! I’m so sorry that you cannot get the care you need. The “help” you have been given from primary care is totally unacceptable. I hope you get the care you need SOON! I’m thinking of you and praying that you get answers and relief from the pain. Hugs!

I am sorry you are having so much trouble and pain. Praying you get a doctor who can oversee your care. Praying for you as you navigate this difficult health condition. May God Bless you, Mary

Mary, is this the same primary care doctor who wouldn’t prescribe Plaxovid for you when you had Covid so it would cut down on symptoms and you ended up with a nasty cough that lasted? If I remember you weren’t happy about that and had every right then to question her care. Ours told us from the beginning of the pandemic that this virus affects many in different ways and we were to let him know so we could start on the medication to minimize our risk. It worked and we breezed thru Covid with no after affects, Sorry but elderly patients, like a lot of us, need a little more TLC and a health care professional should offer all options available to keep you on a wellness path, not what their personal opinions are. I agree with others that Mayo ER might have to step in and get you a PCP to manage your care and treatment. If you aren’t stressed enough with waiting for biopsy results, you have this too which isn’t right.

Kathy – you write a beautiful card! Do you think you’ll ever have surgery? Are you worried about that uterine mass? I’d just want it out of there no matter what it is.

Praying that by now the hospitals have found your biopsy reports so you can move forward and have the surgery done. I would expect that someone mislaid them when you were rushed into surgery after the biopsy. Glad that the bleeding has stopped. It’s too bad that the health system is in such bad shape right now, a lot of it is due to insurance fees. Drs. don’t want to pay the high premiums anymore so they drop out of the health system, making a shortage of Drs. The ones who are left are overworked and frustrated with insurance and the overload of work. Still no excuse for them or their nurses for not answering your phone calls though. I started exercises recommended by the physical therapist last week, but find that doing them is really stirring up the swelling of the bakers cyst behind my knee. Icing it has helped take the swelling down a bit, but the pain lingers on. I’ll get a couple of days reprieve this week when I have a third scope done on my stomach. Won’t feel much like exercising for that day or the next. One good thing about elevating and icing the back of the knee is that I tried hand quilting once again to pass the time. Working on a Dresden Plate quilt made from 30’s fabric that I had already quilted half way about ten years ago. I am finding that I still am able to do it, although very slowly. My stitches may not be as tiny as they used to be, and I can only do two stitches on the needle at a time. But I am making a little progress on it each evening. Thank you, God for even this small blessing. Since the large center medallion is already done, I have just quilted 7 of the 23 blocks. The borders will come later. I am thrilled to be quilting again instead of just piecing quilts. God is good.

I am so sorry that you’re in such pain and don’t have a GP that cares. At this point I would GO to your GP’s office and demand to see the doctor immediately. Then tell him since they obviously don’t want to provide you with quality care (both doctor and nurses) then he needs to do the right thing for YOU and line up another who WILL. Make sure he is aware that if he doesn’t help then you will be sending a message to the medical board AND to the governors office – they have a consumer liaison who works with constituents that need help. Believe me, that WORKS, every-single-time! He doesn’t want to put his license into jeopardy and at this point he could be liable for not ordering tests way before now. I’ve used the governors office to help sort out a visa problem for clients, for a neighbor who had a shoddy company putting solar up on the roof & who wouldn’t correct defects for the building permit, and for a number of others.

I’m sorry you are going through this Mary. I hope the medical mix-ups can be solved very soon.

Prayers that you get some help VERY SOON! Can’t believe this is happening to you.
Earlier I could not leave a comment either. Everything is so messed up since the computer glitch that happened. My grand daughter can’ get a flight here to visit us. Everything is either over booked or cancelled.
Hope you get everything sorted out today!

  16. Danette

Prayers, prayers and more prayers! Feeling awful is just plain awful. The ER can become your primary care doctor until they help you to find a new one. Just let them know you are getting no response from your nurse practitioner and let them take it from there. Meanwhile…… ask for some nausea medication and coupled with pain medication hopefully you will get some much needed relief. Blessings!

I am so very sorry! Pain is horrible! Go to your regular doc and if that doesn’t bring results, go to the ER again! Ugh! Prayers!

I am so ANGRY that they lost your MRI and your Dr. is pathetic. GRRR. I agree with whomever says go right to Mayo ER and have them tell you what is wrong. This is ridiculous. You should not have to be in so much pain. I am sending you a photo of a new neighbor I hope will bring you a smile. I hope you get answers and pain relief soon!

After hitting the word blog at the top, I was able to write a comment in the box. But after looking to see if it posted, alas, it didn’t. I’m trying again. It posted this time, but immediately disappeared. You don’t have time for this right now. Please know I’m thinking of you and hoping you get some help today.

After hitting the word blog at the top, I was able to write a comment in the box. But after looking to see if it posted, alas, it didn’t. I’m trying again. Please know I’m thinking of you battling with our often inadequate health care system. My hope is that you finally get ahold of someone today who can be of real help.

Mary this is so weird. This morning I sent you an email informing you that I was not able to leave a comment not could I see others comments. I just now thought I would go back and check. Low and behold the comment box appears. Thought you could share with Richard.

Mary, I think the most direct and fastest way to get help is drive to Rochester, and go to the Emergency Department. Then you are there. All of this hoop jumping stuff when time is important, you should have been there last week. Call your contact and get an update, but I would just go there.

    1. Cindy Sabinske

This would be the emergency department at the hospital (formerly St. Mary’s Hospital, you know where it is.).

  23. Dale

Just go ahead and see the Dr you don’t like, especially if you have an appt tomorrow. I think that is what you said. Don’t fall out of the system. That would be the worst thing.
    Prayers

    Oh Mary,
I am just so sorry you’re going through this. What an unacceptable situation. I sincerely hope you get some good help and good news today.
You have so many relatives, friends and sweet animals who are all loving you and caring about you!! Rest as best you can and stay strong!!

Oh Mary, I’m so sorry to read this. Ginger Ale is a life saver with nausea.
Praying you get some answers this week! Sending much love, positive healing energy and prayers!

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I hope you find a primary doctor and start to get some answers soon. I know it takes about three weeks for Mayo to triage a case, decide if they’ll take it on and assign a team. There’s no value in having a doctor you don’t trust.

here is the box. i think cyber space is playing with us. one time it’s not here, the next it is. who knows.
i’m so sorry you are feeling so bad. please keep bugging your doc and the nurse practitioner about your health. you know it’s something so something must be done, bug the hospital to figure out where the biopsy is. they can’t just lose it. irresponsible. truly glad the bleeding has stopped but we know there is something going on, you must be proactice (in the voice of my daughter’s high school principal) if you expect action, so bug them or get someone to help you. i know it’s hard and even harder when you don’t feel good, we all worry about you. i know the antibiotic they gave me has done nothing but make me sick to my stomach. one more pill and we see if it knocked out the infection.
still hotter than blazes over here, in the high 80s after 11:15 pm last nite. probably no break unless we get a hurricane (that we truly do not want) or october, maybe november comes, i will gladly you send you some of our heat and humidity. the heat will bake any illness right out of you.
today i’ll be seeing if i have enough sashing strips cut to layout the pineapple blossom. since i added blocks, i think i need more, also need to cut cornerstones,
you are in my prayers for healing. i appreciate your efforts to keep us up to date. hugs, patti in florida
