January 23

Connie sent me these pictures of her beautiful kitchen after she’d been cleaning and redecorating. I knew you’d like to see them.

Notice the curtains she just made and then she covered the chairs seats with the same fabric. Next a new rug under the table. I love it!

The sun is out and it’s 20 degrees – we got an inch of snow but north of us got hit hard – 8-10″ of new snow. Glad it’s not us.

I have not seen a single chicken playing the xylophone yet. I didn’t want to put it on the floor because it will get filled with bedding, etc. but I might have to . Maybe I should put some peanut butter on the keys?

Thanks for the pictures of Connie’s kitchen. Love the kitty in the window! The rug is beautiful as well.
Twelve inches of snow here – about 12 too many!

Connie’s kitchen looks so inviting and warm but after meeting her I would expect no less.
In Baltimore we are getting 60+ weather just warm enough that we get complacent then we get slammed with cold weather, DANG
Those chickens are just wanting you to sweeten the deal.

Very nice kitchen! I love the antique bed frame in the window! Love using items like that in unexpected ways. The hearts are darling as well.

We are having pouring rain at the moment. It’s in the low thirties and ice is forming on the roads and trees. Very dangerous conditions. I’d rather have the 1″ of snow to be honest. So much brighter when it snows, I hate these gloomy wet days we’ve been getting. I’ve been hooking a mat that I’ve been working on for far too long. Can’t wait to finish it up. I also finished a pillow – well, I finished hooking it, still need to make it a pillow! I need an assistant to finish all of these projects, haha! Jan in Topsfield, MA

M-m-m….Love Connie’s new decor. Gorgeous rug and fabrics. Plus, that mini quilt is adorable. I love decorating with minis.
Are the pomegranates real? They look so ripe and perfect. I love them, don’t you? I always share mine with my chickens. They dive for them.

Oh so pretty. I love the colors; they help on dark, dreary winter days. Squeak has a bird feeder outside my sewing room window, too. I love the picture of the golden (white?) lab; is that a photo or a painting?
Central Ohio is almost all green. We had rain yesterday and a very loud thunder storm last night. Our grass is still pretty green. It’s warm, too, 41 degrees. Nice after all of the big minus wind chills we had!
The chicken in the Youtube you sent is going to play the National Anthem at the “Kitten Bowl” on Animal Planet before the Super Bowl. I never would have known about it if you hadn’t shared it, Mary:)

I love the table. It is just perfect. The hearts in the windows are darling. Thank you for sharing.

I like the changes. Brightened it up. Preston says the xylophone needs to be on their level for sure. Maybe a board under it would keep it from getting too much bedding in it. We had rain and last night
a little bit of snow. Now they are calling for much warmer weather the rest of the week. No wonder we are both coughing and have runny noses! Hard on animals too. We are having lambs now. Good thing we have enough barn to keep them warm.

What a pretty country kitchen. I need to do something with mine. We just got 8″ more today, but very wet and heavy.

Now I want to make heart chains also. Monkey see, monkey do. I wonder if they are fabric or paper? It is fun to see such pretty things in the middle of this exasperating winter.

Lovely kitchen – I wish I liked/had confidence to decorate like that! And up ‘nort’ in Kasson we got 14+ inches of snow. Quite heavy, wet snow. It is stuck to everything – trees, clothesline, little shrubs, fences. It is beautiful, especially with the sunshine today! I’m still ready for spring though.

The kitchen is a treasure. I also was wondering about the heart strings. They look like fabric, but maybe cardstock. Very nice. I like the shutters. I have shutters on two of my windows in the kitchen/dining room. I bought them from the Sears catalog (remember that?) 52 years ago. They were unfinished. Look great today. Thanks for sharing.
Mary, maybe you should give those chickens xylophone lessons!!

Love Connie’s kitchen, especially her table. I see she has orchids and I still don’t know what is the secret to keeping them. The kitty adds a nice touch. Thanks for shgaring.

tell Connie it looks lovely. It looks just like her! Makes me think I should freshen up some rooms. Might be getting time to take down the snowmen, well maybe not just yet. Glad you missed the big snow. I’d like a decent snow, as brown is not very pretty.

Nice pictures! Did you “show” the chickens how to “peck” on the xylophone? Maybe they will play it after the demonstration.
