Just A Skiff of Snow, 2-8-25

Not even enough snow to measure – sad for North Iowa. There’s another chance next week.

Great photos from you readers – once again, enjoy!

Wow, this is only about half the pictures so I’ll stop here before I crash the site. I’ll close with Hazel.

I love the cross stitch chickens; I always thought it would be fun to decorate my kitchen with chickens.
The Mary/Lamb embroidery is precious. I would do one of those now; I guess I’ve loved nursery rhymes forever.
The picture of Hazel is so cute. Thanks, Mary 🥰

The old sayings are great AND dated. You tell them to the kids today, they just look at you like you are stupid of something! Little do they know, we may be strange, but fun.

The frames are also very interesting. Some may be a $.50 from Hobby Lobby, or others might have been handed down for years, left in a pile, etc.

We were scheduled for snow of Friday, but i think it went north of us.

Miss Hazel looks like she’s laughing 🤣. 😻 we broke a record and got up to 84 yesterday, today the high should be 54. Started having allergies 🤧!

The samplers reflect the heart and soul of the handworkers. I, too, prefer the gentler version of the children’s bedtime prayer. Thanks for sharing, as I’d never heard it before. I’ll be sending some pictures of my Mom’s handiwork to Mary this week

Janet S., the first time I saw your blog name I was taken aback. That was me for more than a third of my life, before I married. As a child, usually I was the only Janet in the class or grade level. As an adult, many Janets have crossed my path. It must have made the list of popular baby names for the times, although lower down in popularity. I imagine you’ve seen a multiple of spellings, as have I. Yet, I’ve never seen Janit! Anyway, kindred spirits by name. 🙂

Mary, thank you for the time invested in the blog to connect us all to the bigger kindred spirits circle of sewists and those who appreciate the craft.

Yes Jan, I was the only Janet for most of my life so that was okay. Now I think it is more popular since Janet Jackson came on the music scene but we can say ‘we had it first’.
      Have a good day.

    Mary,
My first thought was, Hazel should learn to relax and get comfortable! What a dog!! 🐶 🐾 Biscuit frequently lays on his back with his legs all splayed any which way.

We did get snow yesterday afternoon but not nearly as much as predicted. Most went north of us.
The needlepoint and cross stitch samplers are great! The sayings on them remind me of my grandparents era. And the bedspread shown yesterday was fabulous. A great way to preserve memories.
Take care everyone and enjoy the Super Bowl. 🌻

Pictures are all very nice but Hazel is the star of the show!!

Leaf blower snow is a good term. We have scoop snow this time. Too deep for the blower! This morning it is -4*. Brrr.

    I didn’t accomplish much yesterday!

Joy – very cold here, too. My dogs are so bored and it’s too cold to take them on the wilderness trail. Hazel wouldn’t even want to go – spoiled.

We got a small amount of snow but unfortunately it’s covered with a thick layer of ice. And once again I thank Hazel for giving me something to laugh about to start the day. What a pose! Des

I have loved the samplers, and the doily quilt for heavens sake! Maybe you’ll get more snow this next time. I know the ground needs the water. We do. Eastern NC is dry. Best wishes.

Skift of snow in Nebraska and very cold. Love the samplers and have seen a few that I have made. Love that shot Hazel, a true terrier!!

Mary, We are just southwest of Minneapolis and also got a skiff of snow. I’ve now started calling it leaf blower snow as all I do is get out the leaf blower and clear the sidewalks and steps. It works perfect for that fluffy dry snow but not if you walk on it. Enjoy – it’s getting cold.

Janet – and just yesterday I walked on it first! Luckily the sun came out and melted it all later in the day.

I too was wondering about Hazel. Hopefully she is just stretching! For some reason, I did not receive the usual emails from you on the 6th and 7th. I have no idea why, as I got other usual daily emails. I was a little worried. I was able to read them at the bottom of this email and then the previous one from that one. I am enjoying all the photos.

No, they didn’t go to spam. I check that every day. I have no idea why that happened. Email is usually reliable – unlike USPS on occasion. I just received a small package in the mail that a friend sent me months ago. Who knows where it has been or what happened. At least it arrived in good shape. Thanks so much for your wonderful blog. It and you are truly a joy to all of us.

Hi Mary, Beautiful pictures as usual!! Home sweet home is the best!!
    Hazel looks like she’s in pain. . . 😂

Peggy – actually Hazel is relaxing and stretching in her bed – it’s a rough life!

The first photo is so appropriate. We all hope that life will give to you, Mary, the joy you give to others.

    Is Hazel yawning or snoring?
