These sisters are Ashley and Chelsea who recently moved into a condo together and my stray kitten completed their household. His name is now Simba Kevin – ha! One wanted Simba and the other wanted Kevin and all cats should have middle names, right?
They came to meet him last night and after a trip to Walmart they picked him up this morning.
They will take good care of him – I think they’re smitten with the kitten! Haha!
They grew up with a cat in their home so they understand what cats need. I feel very good about this adoption!
And WE HAVE A WINNER of the Gail Pan book.
CHRISTIE B FROM SE NEBRASKA
Please send your mailing address to my address on the home page and I will send the book to you. Thanks to everyone who played! I’ve got another book to give away next week.
It got very hot in the Upper Midwest – our heat index is predicted to be 107 degrees today. A good day to stay in the AC and sew!
so happy for Simba Kevin, he so cute
So happy for the newest kitty to come your way, Mary!! Looks to be a good match!!
Good choice for kitty’s adoptive parents. They have experience with cats so will do right with the care this adorable guy needs. I am so happy to see good news today after the recent weeks with suddenly losing my mom and months before losing both of my in laws in their 90’s. I am still adjusting to not going to their assisted living home several times a week just so they wouldn’t forget us. Thank you to all who expressed their support during a trying time. It’s life but knowing we are all here together in this journey gave me the comfort of a big wide circle of friends. Reaching out when we need a prayer, a hug or kind words of support in any crisis is what I have found to be the strength to get through and be grateful. Your blog provides that to many of us, and Dianne in Canada, we are here for you thru your treatments.
Oh and Reed- I know you are proud of your quilt and will be so happy seeing it displayed at fair. With the teacher you had, I doubt the judges will find one thing wrong!
Kathy in western NY—sending prayers for comfort and peace for you and yours during these tough times. ❤️
Thank you Caryn.
So sorry for all your losses, remember that God has a especial place for them and they are in your heart forever. Hugs.
So right, Felicia. Thanks.
Simba Kevin—you are one lucky kitty! So happy for you!
Love orange kittens. Looks like he will have a loving home. The girls and Kitty are a good match.
OH HAPPY DAY…………..what a sweet little kitty,( must be a male kitty with a middle name of Kevin ) and how lucky for the sisters also… It comes at a time when my cat, Otis, who is 15 now, has been diagnosed with a Cancer, a type of skin cancer that affects the yellow/orange type more often, sun on fair skin… which my Otis is . But he is free to run and hunt at the farm the summer months til he can’t anymore…
Yes it is going to be a hot week end here in WI too…But I am ready for the first drawing of the Dirty Dozen. I actually have a few more than 12….who’da thought !!!!
Keep cool everyone and Happy Independence Day…the 4th of JULY
Mary: I just love reading about all of your adventures as well as looking at all of the photos you post in your blog. The “kitten” story was adorable and I am happy to hear he is going to have a loving home. Keep up the good work in telling your stories to us. I look forward each day to reading what you share about your life.
He will have a good home.
Yay for furrever homes! 🐱 Congrats to the book winner, it looks like a great one!
Those girls have beautiful smiles… I think the kitty will be happy with them.
It’s getting hot here too. I’m glad my quilting life is in the basement.
Have a great 4th everybody.
All three are adorable! I’ll bet Simba Kevin gets lots of love and attention.
107??? Oh, My. That would just cook me. But, then, we don’t have AC. Rarely need it here.
Congrats Christie B.
They will be loving moms to lucky Simba Kevin. I have been closing ads and always laugh at some. How do they know I need more fabric and a walk-in tub? But one today is from a high end site and has a pair of red high top shoes with white laces and turned up elf toes. We were recently in Norway…am I being trolled? Hot and humid today! Time to quilt. Looking forward to the new book.
Mary, there is a definite reason that all little critters are just so darn cute! Who could resist such a little face? Little Simba will grow up into a beautiful, spoiled cat, but who is counting? He will have a wonderful home.
Does Reed realize that not everybody had a sewing room like you and Connie? Some of us cut out stuff on the kitchen table and then lay out the quilt on the bed, but we aren’t complaining. He is so lucky to be able to learn from you and Connie. It is something he couldn’t get out of a book and will be welcome during his life. Everything we learn each day, whether good or bad, is a part of out lives and helps broaden our character.
Happy July 4th. Where is the year going??
Betty
In the meantime, we all just love the adventures and creativity at Country Threads. And it is all with a big smile.
Betty Klosterman- yes, Reed realizes our sewing rooms are very special. When we started our business I sewed on the dining room table and Connie sewed in a little cubbyhole under the stairs. When I step into my sewing room, I nearly always get a gentle thrill, it’s ambiance and everything I love.
Simba Kevin is definitely going to a good home and will be spoiled!
I would be smitten with the kitten too, he is just so cute. Love orange kitties! Congrats to Christie B!
I just got back from a visit to a fabric store I’ve never been to before. Nice selection of fabrics and i found quite a few Civil War prints. I’m excited because I’ve always wanted to do a Civil war quilt but haven’t had the right colors. It’s expensive building up a stash of fabrics! But i love seeing and playing with what I do have.
I hope your weather is better than ours has been this weekend. Lots of rain and thunderstorms here. Jan in MA
So happy fo Simba Kevin…they all look happy!
That is one happy looking kitten and happy looking new kitten parents!
I so remember all of the kitten’s we have had. The baring of the teeth. is so remembered. Glad that a new home and family has been found. Peace Micky
Thank God for people like these sisters! They understand how many lives could be saved if everybody decided to save the wanted ones. Thank you, Mary, for your work to save Simba-Kevin!
I am pretty sure Reed is going to earn a blue ribbon. You have launched a buddy star, no matter what he decides to do. You taught him patience, perseverance, love of color and fabric, and how being creative makes him feel good about himself!
I’m so glad Simba has a family and home now. What a sweetie! Orange cats are the best – I know because I’ve had several over the years and they are so affectionate. Absolutely the best! Sorry to hear you have such high temps there. We’re just now getting our first warm weather days, and nothing like you’re having. It’s been too wet to mow, so the grass is so high everywhere, it’s incredible. Here it is, almost July and FINALLY it’s summer. The fishermen here are upset because the rivers are so high and muddy, and no fish to seen. And the mountain snow runoff hasn’t even begun. We actually had snow a week ago that closed the high passes. A crazy weather year! Love Connie’s sewing room, and yours too. Try to stay cool. Love, love, love your blog!
What a happy furrever family!! Glad the girls will be Simba Kevin’s new moms–great that they grew up with kitties so they know what he will need!
107–that’s HOT!! We are at 94 here now, so I’m thinking it likely was 95 or 96 earlier this afternoon. That’s pretty hot no matter where you are, but rather unusual for Fort Collins. I had lunch with an old firefighting friend and we sat out on a patio in Loveland until it got too hot to sit comfortably. Always good to catch up with old friends!
Tomorrow I plan to run up to Rocky Mountain National Park to see the piles of snow at the top of Trail Ridge Road now that it is finally open. I understand the park is busy so I’ll head up before 6 am so I can get back about the time the crowds are converging. Hope to see some moose as well, but that means a trip to the far side where the herd is bigger. Hope you all have a safe and happy 4th of July! Keep your animals close by and safe from the fireworks!
Good news today – a loving home for Simba and a book winner! Congratulations, Christie B. Many years ago I embroidered. Friends and family got embroidered T-towels and pillowcases for many a Christmas. I really liked the designs in the book but realistically knew I would never get to them in this lifetime, so I didn’t comment to win. I’m so glad the book went to someone who would really use it. Thanks for your give-aways, Mary!
So sorry I didn’t win the book, congrats to your lucky winner, and am happy Simba Kevin has a home! I can always treat myself to your new book when it’s on the market.
I ageee with other writers, Reed is so lucky to be learning from you, and I think his quilt should be a ribbon winner.
I used to do all my sewing in the basement, now I press and cut large pieces of fabric down there, and do smaller work in my sewing room that is part of a new addition. I’m very lucky to have a nice size space for designing, cutting, sewing, and long arming.
I am glad the little cutie cat got a new home, just a tad sad, but he would have to get used to two spoiled dogs and a cat. Oh, well, that’s how the cookie crumbles. I think they will take good care of him.
Felicia Hamlin – I know you liked him and would have taken such good care of him but I liked these girls and they know that I will check up on them all. He’s got a great home!
Glad the girls got the kitten. I have 15 girls that are going to do the 1 thru 12 with us. We all think it will help us get our projects under control. Oh and I think I will try to get a few rows on my rug on the days I am at the farmhouse which is my quilt shop. Paula in KY
Paula Philpot – please let us all know how everybody is doing! I just did my 2 rows on the rug – tomorrow’s another day.
I believe it is truly the perfect adoption. Good job, Mary, matching the little fella to the right home.
Welcome home, SK-have a wonderful life!
Hi Mary,
Well done with finding the kitten such a good home! It is hot here too: we are in the middle of a heatwave, days of 104 in the shade, which is exceptional for northern Europe in June! No airco, so just drinking lots of water and doing garden stuff early in the day before it gets too hot.
My quilt room is on the 3rd floor, so sewing will have to wait, as it is very warm up there.
Fiona at Ice Bear Quilts – your name gives off a “cool” vibe! We’ve been hearing on the news about such extremely hot weather in Europe and nod AC! Wow! We rarely run ours but it’s on now in our heat wave. Hard to work in such heat – I feel sorry for you! Hang in there!
I could have never let him go!❤️
I am so happy for Simba Kevin! He will have two people to spoil him.
Wow is it warm! Harry S. Truman wants to sit in my lap and he is an even warmer fuzz ball!
Hope you and yours can keep cool!
YOO-HOO!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for drawing me as the winner of Gail’s book! I am sewwww excited!
Such cute pictures of Simba Kevin – looks like he is going to get a lot of love and attention!
Thanks again! HUGS… and stitches
Christie B. – I’ll need your mailing address
So happy for Simba Kevin!
I have a Noah Thomas! He was simply Noah until he insisted on doing naughty things at 3am. One middle of the night fiasco found me half asleep yelling, “Noah Thomas Tudor KNOCK IT OFF!”. Thought my hubby was going to soil himself he laughed so hard.
“Kitten Gets A Home” – Sounds like the title to a great kids book. How lucky for him that he chose your yard! Good for you Mary, giving him a solid second chance.
