Leo, Sam and Brian’s goldendoodle that often stayed here, died this afternoon from complications of kidney and liver failure.

We will never know what caused the kidneys and liver to fail – a year ago Faye was dying of the same thing and my heart breaks for the Lund family. My own heart is incredibly sad as well because I loved Leo.
We will see Leo again when he greets us in Heaven.

A quick google search tells me that there can be many causes of kidney failure including ingesting tainted food (poisoned animal?), antifreeze etc. This also popped up, and I remember when this was going on:

Marsha – I remember that, too, and one of my boarders has eaten Beneful her entire life – healthy as can be so I’m unsure about the report.
Mary, thanks for this sweet tribute to our boy. He was amazing, and he loved you. Thanks for all the wonderful love and care you showed him. And thanks to your bloggers for their kind words, prayers and concerns. My heart still aches and everything reminds me of him. Leo was definitely a good gift from the Lord.
Sam – as I look over pictures taken of Leo over the past almost 6 years, my heart breaks for you and for me as well. Loved that Leo!
So sorry Sam. Bentley loved playing with Leo.
Oh no – I am very sorry to hear about the loss of Leo. Losing a pet is so difficult and Leo was certainly still a young pup. Thoughts and prayers being sent to all who loved him.
Our dog friends are our family. I miss all mine and cannot wait to see them again. Surely dogs are in God’s Heaven. Sorry for their loss of a beautiful dog.
That is very sad for all who knew and loved Leo. 6 years old is just too young:(
Mary, I’m very sorry for you and the Lund family. I know you loved Leo and he loved you, too. You made a happy place for him to spend time when his owners had to be away. It will be wonderful to be reunited with all our pets in heaven!
So very sorry for all who loved him….it’s so hard when you loss a member of your family. Sending prayers and hugs!
Mary I’m sorry about Leo. Too young. So sweet of a dog. My thoughts are with his family, and with you. Love Moe
Prayers – damn dogs
So sorry for all of you who loved him.
So sorry to hear about Leo – you can’t help but get attached to your charges!
So sorry to about Leo. Its hard to lose our fur babies
I’m heartbroken that a dog of only 6 is gone like this. I cant help but think something in the environment is causing these early deaths. We’ve had 2 golden retrievers who didn’t even make it to 10–cancer caused their deaths. I’m sorry for all of you who knew and loved Leo. He looked like such a sweet dog.
Leo was such a gentle dog. So sweet. So sad for the family, but at least Leo no longer suffers.
So sorry to hear about Leo. Praying for all who loved him 🙏🏼😥
So sorry to hear.
It is always so hard to lose a pet , am so sorry for their loss .
RIP, sweet Leo. See you at the Rainbow Bridge. 🙁
Such sad news. I often wonder if there is something in their food that causes premature death. Yes, Leo and all the others are just like family and the loss can only be eased a bit with good memories. Leo knew he was loved just like Faye did.
sorry for the loss of Leo. Beautiful dog. How old was he? We have a 5 month goldendoodle and wonder if this is sometime to be watching in the future.
Happy Easter to you & your family.

Carolyn – Leo’s 6th Birthday would have been this June.
that is really sad to lose Leo at almost 6 years old.

I don’t even want to think about losing another fur baby. My Rosie is 11 and I have only had her 4 years. How old was Leo? Thoughts are with his family.
So Sorry; pretty baby >
So sorry for all who will miss him.
such sad news……..
Oh how sad, Leo was such a beautiful dog. My family has had to put down 3 cats with mysterious tumors. We wonder if GMO’s play a part in some of these illnesses.
Martha – I wonder about that, too.
There are non-GMO pet foods..
So sorry to hear about Leo, but I am sure he and Faye are playing together on the other side of the rainbow bridge.
So sorry for the loss of Leo
Sorry…running free….these smart phones aren’t always smart enough to spell correctly.
Mary sorry for the loss. He has such a sweet face but now is really naming free with Faye and all those other four legged fur children.
He looks like such a great dog-he’s running free now and will see you when you cross, but I still am so sorry for your broken hearts-
Oh, how heartbreaking. They leave such a big hole in your heart. So much sympathy for his family.
Dog speed, Leo!
So sad..rip Leo
Such heartbreak. I’m so sorry for all of you.
So sad to hear about about his passing. May her family finds peace in knowing that he is waiting at he rainbow bridge
It’s hard ,to see our beloved pets suffer and then pass on. I have to remember that the life span of an animal is much shorter than humans (most of the time). The precious memories of their unconditional love and loyalty does help when they do leave our families. Treasure the time with each of the animals entrusted to your care. I have two older cats, one nearly 12 and the other 13 years. They still maintain good health but I know in a matter of 3-5 years, they may have health failure. They are our “fur children” and we know it will be hard to lose them when they pass.
I know you loved Leo very much. So sorry for your lose and sorry for his family as well. So sad when family dogs pass on. They are such a part of us.
So sad to lose a fur baby.
So sorry to hear about Leo. It is so heartbreaking and my heart goes out to his family.
