I emptied the freezer, moved it away from the wall, recovered the black kitten, moved the kitten to the basement (we may never see that kitten again), scrubbed the floor and put everything back in the freezer.
It was a bitter cold day and poor Hercules was so lonely in the kennel. He cried every time I left the building and finally I moved him to the house where he is now very happy. Don’t you just love the picture of him drinking out of the kitchen faucet? What a day! I think I’ll sleep on the couch tonight to stay close by— IF he’ll let me have the couch. Ha!
Time to sew? Not a chance.

Mary, you have definitely earned your way to heaven and when you get there all the animals you have saved will rush to bring their friend’s to meet you. 🙂 You are one amazing lady!

I love the look on the cat’s face watching Hercules drinking from the faucet! “WHAT IS THAT ?!?!?!?!?”

Never a dull moment at your house.

What a beautiful animal Hercules is….you really need to write a book about the animals you have known. With pictures of course.

You are just too much. God bless you and all of your wards. Did you ever think of bottling your energy and love and selling the potion?

Hercules is GORGEOUS! Poor Baby! He NEEDS to be inside … G!
Poor kitty — probably so traumatized he/she will need therapy … Can just imagine her/him frantically seeking someplace to “go” that was safe and secure.

Just to be clear, when I say “out in the kennel”, I am referring to a 5’x 20′ southern exposure room in the quilt shop with a doggie door that leads outside to a yard about 100′ x 100′. I would never leave an animal outside and didn’t make it clear where the “kennel” was located. Hercules has spent the evening sleeping on the couch in front of the fireplace.

The first picture of Hercules (on the couch) makes it look like he settled in just fine. And drinking from the faucet, what a hoot!! He doesn’t even have to stand on his hind legs. All the other critters must wonder about the “new monster” in the house. Ha. Keep up your love & attention to all who end up at the farm!!

You are such a good person with the animals, I enjoy your posts about them so much, hope I get to your shop sometime to visit with them.

Hercules ~ I love that gentle giant!! We also have a black great Dane in our family, called Echo ~ she is often called Aunt Echo by some of the great-niece & nephews!! lol

Looks like you won’t get much of the couch to sleep upon, especially if he decides to s-t-r-e-t-c-h out.

Loved meeting Hercules and all the great pics of him. I so look forward to your posts and all that is going on in Iowa with you and the animals. My pets have always been much more a friend/family member than a pet, too. Thank you so much , Mary…it makes my day.

Oh how handsome he is! I do not think there will be enough room on the sofa for the both of you unless you hold him in your arms or you in his paws.
I would so love to visit your farm and quilt shop and meet every one!

After reading all the recent posts, the highs and lows I felt reading about all the things you do, it’s time, I want you to do a reality TV show on YouTube. It would be so good because it would have all the things I want to see, quilts, animals, more quilts, more animals, you can play the piano, tell a joke, introduce a pet needing a forever home, show fabric, do a project, it would be educational (problem solving–rescuing the kitty from behind the freezer) this would be so wonderful. Think about it.

What a great dog! I loved the fact that he didn’t even have to put his paws up on the sink to get a drink!
