Thanks go out to Denise who got me back online again. I wanted to post what was happening but I kept getting the message “your account has been cancelled” – what? I couldn’t read your comments and all the best wishes and I really missed that connection to you readers/friends! So I think I’ll need to put a Denise on a retainer, don’t you? If not for her, I wouldn’t be posting this morning. Click here for more.
https://www.country-threads-chicken-scratch.comI’ve been doing the therapy exercises 3 times a day here at home but today is my first appointment at Athletico in town. The TED hose are pretty important but they are difficult to put on so I thought I’d show you the “sock aid” which is nothing short of brilliant.
It’s a plastic “sleeve” with two rope handles.
Gather the sock on to the plastic sleeve.
Slip your foot into the sleeve and pull on the ropes.
Thanks for all the well wishes! My first therapy appointment is in a few hours and then I’ll let you know how that goes. Connie is coming out to fill orders and I’ll help as much as I can. So I’ll talk to you later!
Wow! That trick is marvelous! Where did u get it? On Amazon like everything else we find? Haha
Best wishes for a speedy recovery! Good luck at therapy!
Best wishes Mary! Follow through with the PT even though it maybe tough. You’ll recover so much faster. I know you want your life back.
Every day should be better and better! So glad you are recovering!
Best wishes for speedy healing.
Best wishes for your first therapy appointment! Enjoy a nap later today!
Best wishes, Mary! You are doing the right things, exercises at home and PT! They are critical for a good outcome. I know your determination will see you through and you will have great use of your knee and free of pain!
Speedy recovery wishes sent your way.💐💐💐
Hope your recovery is coming along good.
Work hard on exercises and you will be back to normal soon
Good to hear from you. Denise is a great help. The sock sleeve looks like a slick deal. Use your determination and PT and all of this will quickly pass.
Cool invention! I’m so glad you feel up to sharing your thoughts. I hope your pain lessens dramatically soon. Thinking if you as you power through this. Hope your little menagerie is coping without your mothering!
Best wishes for a quick recovery!
Mary, we are all sending Get Well prayers your way! Could it be that the “air waves” were so clogged by all of us that it threw your computer for a loop?! A friend had her knee done in April and no one can even tell now. She walks great. She said PT is painful but they told her she had to get to “the other side of it” and she’d be happy she did. She still does her exercises and goes to PT once or twice a month. Here I am preaching exercising and when was the last time I actually exercised? Shame on me! Just love your new book! The fabric colors are glorious. Hello to Connie and I know you two will have enjoy being together today.
Here’s to a speedy recovery, Mary! We’ve all been thinking about you and praying for your healing. Good luck with your therapy. That is the key to recovery and healing. Soon, you will be tap dancing all around your house.
Hope your recovery is smooth sailing!
Best wishes on your knee recovery. PT is so important! Work hard now and it will pay off later. My new knee is now 1-1/2 yrs old and very functional.
Thinking of you as you work thru your exercises and PT! My mother has one of those sox aids and it works so well
So good to hear from you. A computer guru is so nice to have nearby. Best of luck with your PT.
Wow what a contraption to put on the hose! You take it easy!
Do take good care of yourself. Isn’t amazing how our bodies can adapt to changes!!!
Sending prayers and hugs from Texas💕

Welcome back Mary good luck with your therapy session. The sock gadget is brilliant.
Speedy Recovery Mary, God will watch over you.
So glad Denise could help with things. Wish I had a computer geek to help me with my darn pc. Slow as molasses! Anyway, it is so nice to hear from you Mary! That sock gadget is amazing. I wonder if this would work with other types of compression stockings? My friend has lymphedema in her leg and wears these daily. Something like this would be very helpful. I’m happy that Connie is coming – please don’t get overtired though! You need to take care of yourself during this recovery period. It’s dreary here in MA, rained yesterday and now today. More to come over the next few days…yuck. But! I’ve got a new project that I picked up in a cute quilt shop in Maine. Can’t wait to start it and today seems like the perfect time for that. Jan in MA
Good luck in therapy Mary! Watching your progress!
So good to hear from you, Mary. The sock aid is a great invention. Looks like your furry nurse is on duty. With PT and your positive attitude you’ll be up and dancing in no time.
Good to hear from you! You’re doing so well, to be up and about. Remember to rest after the PT. Looks like you got some pretty flowers!
You sound so good! I think this knee surgery is going to make a new woman of you! Thoughts and prayers for a very speedy recovery!
Yay, Mary! Glad you’re doing your at-home exercises & PT is about to start! You’ll be back in the swing of things before you know it! Take care & don’t overdo things! It’s not a race……………..😉
My husband LOVES his sock putter oner. The hospital gives them to knee replacement patients so he has two. He still uses his every day for his regular socks because of his arthritis. That and his grabber sticks, which he has stashed everywhere, help him so much with old Arther.
I am so happy for your Mary. You are coming along great. Keep it going, but rest lots too.
Hooray for Denise, and hooray for you, Mary! It’s good to hear your “voice”. We’re all rooting for you.
You have gotten Tons of Replies from your Blog followers wishing you all the best with your knee surgery! Thanks again… to Denise for Getting you back on line, AGAIN! You have so many great friends in your area! Thanks for the Blog today and our prayers continue to be sent your way. I have read all the replies you received and you were sent lots of INFO that could be helpful & encouraging! But, your Dr. and therapists will give you every thing you need & keep you on the right track! Hugs… Freda in AL
Glad to hear that you are doing so well. Keep up those exercises! That sock puller is brilliant. I remember trying to get one on my mom after her hip surgery – actually two and wrestling to get it on. It’s funny now but at the time I could have gone bald – pulling my hair out. Prayers being said for a complete and fairly quick recovery. 💕 Closed 5 ads.
So good to see you posting on the blog, Mary, and many thanks to your good friend, Denise, for being for IT tech.
Hope your therapy session goes well today, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy working on filling orders today and having Connie out to visit with. How did the Junkfest go for her?
Mary, Glad you are doing as well as you are.` I loved the picture of Hazel (Mom’s home) My sock aid didn’t have handles and I could’t bend over. Hope therapy goes well. Peace Micky
Yes, yeah for Denise!
Wishing you good vibes during PT. I hear the hardest part is starting, so after the first 5 minutes it gets easier.
My friend and I are headed to Houston this week. We’re meeting up with Tanya from Texas and will send a photo of us. If anybody else is going, we are meeting in front of the grand prize winner at 10:30 on Friday.
Do not start cooking…if you start, it will never end!
Jo! You’re going to Quilt Festival and meeting up with Tanya – omg- how fun! I am so jealous! Please send me some pictures for the blog. And to think the World Series is going to be just next door Tuesday and Wednesday – now that would be congestion. I can’t get down the steps to my sewing room just yet so the hours seems pretty long. Gotta find a good book.
Glad to hear that you are exercising and going to PT. Everything you can do will
help you to get back on track. Denise is wonderful to help with the computer.
We miss your emails when the computer gets off track.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Best wishes and prayers for your speedy recovery, Mary.
Yes, that PT is important but do no more and no less than what your therapist requires. It just takes time.
Glad you are on the mend. I think i need a socks contraption just for every day and i didn’t have surgery!
Glad to hear you are doing well! That hose tool is quite the invention!! Looks like you have good help and support from kitty, too!! Don’t overdue as you work on your recovery!! You are used to being busy and productive all the time—that will come, but only if you give yourself time to heal and recover! Best to you!!
I’m so glad that you are doing well. PT is so important even if it hurts, at times. I know you have strength and determination to get back to your chores and activities. I hope hubby and the animals are giving you lots of TLC.
Good luck with your physio. Every day will get easier and you will be back able to do all you could do before your knee trouble. Thinking about you and glad you had a helper to get you back online
Sending prayers for a speedy and full recovery to you!
By now I hope you are home resting from PT in your cozy chair and reading your good wishes from your blog friends. So happy to hear from you. Denise is the kid we all wish lived next door to us to help us out with technical difficulties so we are grateful to her. Stay well Mary.
You go! You have this! Wishing you a speedy recovery…all you have to do now is therapy. The wait for surgery and the nervousness that accompanies that are behind you. Get well soon.
Some fine snow has been coming down up here in Idaho since early morning.
I use grabbers like Sue mentioned due to my arthritis. My husband could use the easy on stocking items!
Sending prayers to you, Mary, for a good recovery thru PT and lots of TLC!
So glad all progressing well. Won’t use word exercise… evil connotation…therapy sounds so much more productive, and this too shall pass. Just remember the reward at the conclusion.
In process of high fencing a 20 acre pasture. Son & 5 friends managed to get all the corner posts set yesterday and more than half posts…ran out of posts but TSC will have rest in Thursday. Hopefully be able set them next weekend and get started on steel mesh & gates. Setting fence 8 ft inside existing barb wire fence…bought axis deer at Huntsville auction… at son’s friends high fenced place until have pasture ready…guess I am in the exotic game business. Yes I am questioning my sanity !!! Will keep you posted on progress of both fence & my mental demise.
This comment brought me more info about what you bought at the sale. I can’t wait to hear more about it!
Happy to hear you are doing so well. Prayers that your recovery will continue to speed right along with no hiccups. thanks for Denise, I have one like her named Tim, he is a life saver. Love him to pieces, he is my youngest son. He built my first computer while he was in college, back when a dialup connection was the only thing available here. Get well soon
Jan in NW Oregon.
It is so wonderful to “hear” from you, it sounds like things are moving along. Just think of all the reading you can do without guilt as there is only so much you can do. You are in my thoughts and prayers!
Did they give you the sock aid at the hospital ? Paula in KY
Yes, the sock aid was given to me at the hospital.
So glad you are doing so well Mary. I wish I would’ve had those sock “helpers” after my surgeries. My son had to help with socks until my sis got here from Michigan.
So glad to hear you are on the mend, i’m sure the PT will be very hard but so worth it in the long run. Glad you have friends to help you.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Mary
Being a few days behind on blog reading. Just now caught up on your knee replacement. You’re such a trooper! When my mom was last in the hospital, they were quite full & gave her a room in orthopedics. I was surprised to hear moaning and crying coming from the rooms of the joint replacement patients! Wishing you speed in your recovery.
So glad you are doing well! Those PT folks are even more important than your doctor in getting you back on your feet. A nap sounds like a great idea for after your appointment.
My best wishes for a speedy recovery, Mary. I guess the therapy exercises are the key! You will soon be back on the horse! Ha! Isn’t it nice to have all your friends wish you well. I love your new book! Thank you!
Mary yea it’s over. You are brave, but I know that once the swelling goes down and you are able to do more it will all have been worth it. I am such a chicken when it involves pain. I’m surprised they didn’t send a pt to your home for a week or two before traveling to an office. My DIL is a pt who does this in New Hampshire. Anyway I hope you can enjoy the World Series tonight – Tuesday. Who are you rooting for? We live in Md and all here have been disappointed with the Nationals performance here at home. Hopefully they can win their 3rd tonight in Texas. Just to keep everyone on the edge of their seats and let the season last another day or two. Thinking of you and praying your healing is speedy.
Is there still time to order your book? I procrastinated. Boo. Pat
Absolutely you can still order the book! $33 to Country Threads.
I think it’s been interesting that the home teams have not been winning – won’t it be a fun game tonight?
Hi Mary, So good to hear that you are doing ok. Thanks for keeping us informed. Keep on with your therapy.
I’ve been on vacation for a couple of weeks and today I checked my emails and was shocked by the photo. Had to go to older blogs to understand the photo. Yikes, it’s painful to see so can only imagine what you are feeling! Take care of yourself in every way. Prayers are being offered.
Mary, the sock aid is so clever. I have a friend who has lympodema and wears compresion hose and she tells me that is painful at times. You have the best nurses right next to you. Don’t over do it.
