I was just too tired to post last night. I don’t feel bad exactly, just exhausted. And I don’t want to go anywhere in public because I just don’t want to catch a cold or the flu. I really miss playing for church.

Remember my beautiful shawl? This is the yarn Rose used:

She purchased this yarn at Michael’s.

Just finished piecing this last night and today I hope to get it on the longarm – it’s not a Christmas gift but that’s my goal. You remember how much I “love” binding and since it’s a gift it must be hand bound.

A couple red and white quilts brought out for Christmas – the stitching just blows me away.
Here’s a good picture of FluffyBun

Sorry you’re not feeling up to par, Mary. I’m not either! But my problem is a cold. I am not sure where this came from, but I hope it goes away quickly. Drinking a lot of herbal tea and water. I love the picture of Fluffybuns! She is very pretty! My gray tabby would look just like her if he had long hair, haha! The red and white quilts are precious. That hand stitching! Patti, your piles of fabrics are great! I have been buying fabrics at my needlecraft guild meetings – they group them by colors and are very inexpensive. I just love looking through them, imagining them together, so fun. I hope tomorrow is better, Mary! Jan in MA
Mary, The sun is not shining here today, and we have had a little dusting of snow, it looked like feathers falling from the sky. Today is my second son’s birthday, so I have reminisced today thinking back to when he was born 47 years ago. Today I am putting ipa few Christmas decorations. I never decorated for Christmas until after his birthday. When do you see your local doctor, or the doc at Mayo for a follow up from your surgery? If you mentioned this already, I missed it. Sounds like you are not over doing your activities, and I loved your quilt photos, the beautiful wreath on your door, you lovely shawl, slippers and beautiful dress! Cheerful! Take care.
Beautiful quilts; especially your red and white quilts. Were these family quilts? It would be interesting to know who was the amazing hand quilter. Fluffybun is a poser. She is beautiful! Love the Boo and Christmas story. Hope your energy level returns. I’m sure Margaret is missing you playing at church too.
Hi Mary, Hope you are feeling better. Probably just did too much too soon. Your body knows what you need. I know you like to keep busy.
I always like the pictures of your red and white quilts. So beautiful!
And Fluffybun is quite a cat as many have said. Beautiful.
Getting ready for Christmas. I have to get things in the mail. That’s my to do list.
Fluffybun is gorgeous, I would love to have her as a house cat to spoil & pamper! Hope this finds you feeling better.
Fluffybun is a beauty! That’s a great picture.
I hand stitch the binding on all my quilts, mostly because I don’t think I can do it neatly enough on the machine. I haven’t had any problems with the stitching failing, even on a much loved and laundered nap quilt made for my husband over 30 years ago.
The Boo story was sweet. I loved that Boo saved the kitten!
We had a female cat that was colored like a Siamese and she was really fluffy. She had many litters of pretty kittens. We called her Ol Fluff. One day Ol Fluff was just laying by the wash house door. I thought that was odd. Jay said she’s just sleeping. No, Ol Fluff was dead, sad. Ol Fluff’s fur was never matted. I think she was pristine just like Fluffybun! So pretty an a Queen!
Mary, you couldn’t get to sleep until 3:30 am. Stands to reason you would be out of energy the next day. Do not watch too much online and tech stuff because it will keep you awake! Do something relaxing before you go to bed…read a book.
We all love you!
As so many have already said ( but can’t be said enough), the red/white quilt is stunning!
Regal describes Fluffybuns.
Love the robe you have on in photo. Definitely avoid gatherings until fully recovered. Listen to your body, if tired, take a nap, if just don’t feel like doing “it”, don’t. There will be good days , not so good days & a few crummy days mixed in when least expected. Let others do for you . Hope you have a great holiday season & are back to yourself before long. Keep me updated about how all goes with clinic .

It’s a warm 67 in Texas, went shopping for a while this morning and then did a 15 minute walk. Got 6700 steps in so far. Day is young. Saturday was spent at soccer tournaments and they got rained out. Got 2 out of three games in, Sadly they lost both games. Played a couple of board game with grandson, he had to teach us how to play them. Daughter in Illinois got a new puppy on Saturday. It was a friend of a friend who fosters dogs. They got the dog out of Tennessee. Of course they got another Great Dane. They are pretty excited about the puppy.
Good idea Mary to limit your exposure to the outside world for a while yet. I did the same thing also.
The quilts are stunning, thanks for sharing everyone.
Love the picture of Fluffybun.

Like many have already said — it’s best that you stay in and keep from getting exposed to anything. There’s some nasty things going around out there. You need to take care of yourself and get better. The picture of you and your shawl is wonderful. Your shawl matches your smiley face slippers! So cute!
Fluffy Bun is a beautiful cat. It’s amazing that her fur stays so beautiful with all her wanderings! I had a long-haired cat many years ago, and as he got older he quit grooming himself like he should. I had to have him shaved, but because he wasn’t the easiest cat to deal with, the vet put him under. He looked so pitiful when he woke up — the lion cut, as someone above called it.
Take care of yourself!!
Susan- I not sure why FluffyBun’s coat doesn’t get matted – I check her every day but so far so good
The quilts are stunning and I just love the red and white ones. I’m allergic to cats but yes that picture of Fluffybun is frame worthy. She’s a very pretty cat.
love the quilts, especially the red/white ones. magnificent stitching on the one. i really like your blue/white (can’t think of the name). it will be wonderful when finished. all the quilts shown are wonderful. i’ve never made a bow tie quilt that big, they’ve all been relatively small wallhanging types.
the picture from me – trying to show how much was stuffed in that bin. those white bins also came from that sale. there were also baggies of cut off corner tris. they are all small and may become fodder for dog pillows. i do have my limits. these are so small the hst would probably finish at 3/4″ or less. i should live so long. in order to get through my fabric stash i should probably be making giant giant blocks. oh well. gives me things to play with.
today was cleaning and had a great crew. mother/daughter and they are really good. i’m always happy with their work.
biscuit looks happy with the new teddy. fluffy bun looks regal, like the diva she probably thinks she is. she is a beautiful cat.
no stitching so far. just not feeling 100% – no definite reason. just sometimes happens. mary, i know that is a japanese fabric and just can’t think of its name. hate when that happens.
so i will veg out for the rest of the day and all you’all have my permission to do the same. blessings to all, patti in florida
Mary,
Lost my email with AT&T, who knows why, but now have a new one and was to read your recent posts.
Glad you are home and recovering and hope that your recovery will go as fast and complete as possible. Best wishes.
Beautiful red quilts and your new one is looking good. I machine bind all of my quilts because all of my recipients (kids, grands) USE their quilts and I don’t want them back for repairs. I’m lazy that way! Haha
Vicki, I love your quilt! You have the best eye for color.
Fluffybun is aptly named. She looks like she would be a joy to snuggle. Does she allow that??
You are smart to avoid gatherings right now after surgery and risk the chance of picking up something. Church is where I hear of what’ others are catching and sick from. Always praying for someone to get well and we know you are on the good path of recovery now so want you to stay on it. I attended a community chorus concert at our church yesterday afternoon and it was packed with people and I sure hope I won’t get sick but it got me in such a festive mood listening to all those songs. It made me also think how hard days can be for people like Sharon and Jo who have lost their companion to talk to during holiday moments where memories come up. My husband use to fall asleep during a local church’s cantata that I loved to go to and hear. But I would be the first one saying I’d take him falling asleep any day over not being here. Now I go to concerts by myself rather than put him through it. As much as I love my holiday decorations I’d struggle doing it myself. I know that. Today I stopped at Walmart after helping tie charity quilts at a local senior center and so much is marked down already that I was very surprised. I bought a beautiful Muk Luks large fleece throw half price ( $9.98 )for a family at church we are helping this season. It was the last time we’ll tie quilts this year together so had a little food to share at the end and it helps for those who said they’d be alone on Christmas Day.
Good idea to not venture out and about. Fluffy bun is gorgeous.
Mary, I glad you’re playing it safe by staying away from gatherings. Continue on the road to healing and recovery. Fluffy Bun is beautiful! That photo needs to be cropped and framed. It actually is one that could be painted or made into a cross-stitch chart. I hope maybe one of your blog readers is talented and might do that for you. I’m not that talented. Haha!!! I really like your red and white quilts. That hand quilting is exquisite! Vicki, your patriotic 30 Stars quilt is stunning. I’m back to sorting and cleaning at my mother’s home. I have a niece who is willing to help and then my sister will join us on the weekend. My brothers really don’t want anything to do with it. Which is hard for me to understand. But, it is what it is.
Martha – hard to understand that any man would pitch in to help sort and make life easier for their sisters? Doesn’t surprise me at all.
You made my day with the picture of Fluffybun, she looks like she just visited the groomer. My long-haired orange “Sassy” is starting to get matted around his neck. He tries to bite when the brush comes out, so we just live with the mats.
Friend of mine had a long haired and whenever the mats got too much she took her to the groomer for a ‘lion’ cut. We always felt the kitty was embarrassed afterwards LOL! The mats can pull the cat’s skin so it has to be done
Stunning red and white quilts!…. Hand quilting always makes me smile! Interesting comment on hand binding ‘gift quilts’….. I’ve always bound most gift quilts on the machine as I never know how welll they’d be cared for! Gave sone and wife one for wedding and saw it in the wash monthly if not more….. dogs laying in bed!….. I mentioned something about caring a bit for it….. now I think it’s stuffed in a closet!🤷
Mary Ellen – the person receiving this quilt is extremely neat and tidy – she’s only using it for a decorative throw or on a table.
Needless to say, I just wait in anticipation to receive every one of your posts. They just brighten my days and I really do need my days brightened. You get so much accomplished that it is amazing to me, and I envy that. I need constant inspiration and seeing all the beautiful quilts, the decorations and all the animals have me smiling. That is a beautiful photo of FluffyBun. She looks adorable. I wish I could visit her – and you!
Mary – Lovely quilts on your blog today and always. Love the red and whites!
Fluffybun is beautiful. What a majestic pose for the camera!
I put some Christmas decorations out yesterday.
Glad you’re improving every day.
Take care everyone!
First I want to thank everyone’s comments on the Boo and Christmas story. Most of the comments made me smile – a couple made me teary eyed. The comments about Emmett sending the kitten for Boo to love I think is absolutely true. Thanks again.
Love the picture of the beautiful Fluffy Bun. The red and white quilts are beautiful!
Gloria – I’m so happy Boo took her in so willingly!
Loved the red and white quilts. All of that hand quilting…wow! Glad you are feeling better every day.
What beautiful red and white quilts! Thank you for showing them to us. Fluffybun is just too beautiful. Keep plugging.
