Remember Linda in CA had a little family of hummingbirds last summer? They’re back – the nest is beginning to be built. Can you spot it?

Colleen in Oregon – how’s your shoulder? Still going to therapy?
Jo – is your cold better? How about your hand?
Jeanine – how’s your eye?
Connie in NV – how’s your little dog’s eye? And your husband’s afib?
Deb in Idaho – books in the mail very soon.
How about everybody else? If you’ve written please update us.

Mary our little dog had the stitches out on 4/25 and his eye is fine. You can’t tell anything happened to it. Wearing a collar for3 weeks made for some big mats behind his ears. It took me a couple of hours of combing to get them out before going to the groomer for his bath & haircut.
My husband came home from the hospital 4/26 and is getting stronger. They are going to electric shock his heart in sync on 5/20 so that we will not feel so tired & be able to get back to his daily 2 mile walk.
Between all the appointments I’ve had very little time to do any sewing and sewing is therapy!
Connie – wow, nothing but good news from you! Rick has had that shocking done but seems to still be quite tired and sleeps in his chair almost all evening – ?
Love all the quilts today, especially those Kaffe stripes. Pinwheels, purses & sweet little Angel-what’s not to like. My favorite cat was a big orange & white Tom (that was soon remedied) and seeing Three leaving through the dog door brought back memories of my Sonny Boy.
Love Julie B’s use of striped fabrics, very inspiring! I’ve been doing less sewing than usual because I’m in the middle of making a quilt out of hockey jerseys for my late husband’s great-nephew. So boring that I keep procrastinating and avoiding my sewing room, lol. I just need to buck up and get it done.
Becky – and once you’ve started it won’t be as bad as you think!
We’re all getting older and can’t do everything we used to do! It isn’t easy to accept. BUT we can all enjoy all the great quilts others make and all the wonderful colors.
And then there is the driving! When my husband was told he had 2 months to live, immediately he told me to sell the “gray” car as he wasn’t going to drive it any more!! It was always hope. And I was really glad because I couldn’t take care of 2 cars. Gotta love him.
Take care everybody, and still do what you can and hopefully what we want. Betty in Rapid City
Hi Mary, thank you for your concern about my shoulder. I had the MRI Tuesday. Tomorrow, I will have a follow up appointment for the results. It has been improving with PT, so I’m continuing that. I feel like my problem is nothing when I hear about others.
I am so enamored now with Bullseye quilts that I must make one! But, after seeing all the beautiful ones here, I’m on sensory overload!
Julie B’s circle quilt is amazing! Kara’s little Angel is beautiful!
The purse quilt is so cute! I made a purse quilt years ago. The pattern was Pocketbooks and Pumps. I save quilt pictures I like and one day, my granddaughter who was 6 or so at the time was looking at the screensaver pictures on my computer. When the purse quilt showed up, she said “Grammy, when you make this for me…” I don’t remember what else she said but thankfully I put the business in the quilt’s name when I saved the picture. I think it was Quilt Soup and I think they are not in business now. I ordered the pattern and some of the fabric in the pattern and made two quilts, one for each of my granddaughters.
Sheryl – oh, I wish I were as organized as you – saving the business name with the quilt picture!!!
I don’t always note the business name unless it is something unusual or one I haven’t seen before. I have so many things I would like to make that I don’t save pictures like I used to.
Well, we’re finally back in Columbia, SC after moving from the NY house. Closing on Friday; FINALLY !!!!! It has been the worst experience of my life. Try downsizing a 7800 Sq. ft., 3 story Queen Ann Mansion by yourself. My husband can’t do stairs because of bad knees which is why we are moving in the 1st place. Besides, he wasn’t much help anyway. Left about 75% of what was in the house which was the deal because everything in it was bought specifically for the house. Left so much beloved items but I guess that’s life. Felt like a major death cleaning only I was still there!!! The drive back to SC was horrid. Storm after storm encountered all the way down. I AM NEVER MOVING AGAIN !!!!!!
{{ Barbara }} Those are dangerous words 🙂
My dh’s work requires frequent moves and temporary long-stays that may as well be moves, and Every Single Time I say that I AM NEVER MOVING AGAIN. And then, you know what happens … LOL He thinks that it is so easy, because all he used to do was unplug the TV on one end and plug it in on the other end. He doesn’t even do that now! Somehow, from his perspective, things pack and unpack themselves and the trash somehow goes away and the chaos improves day-by-day all by itself. Amazing thing!
Once you are rested and you are a little bit more settled, you can look back and know that you did the right thing. Right now, though, it’s really hard! Congratulations on making your way through the worst of it!
Susan, You understand !!!!! This was our 23rd move including parent’s houses after they pasted and various cottages over the years. Most moves were related to my husband’s work.
Susan – it must be the same the world over – the husband unplugs the tv and plugs it in again – how do they think the household keeps running?
LOL! Clearly it’s a little fairy dust and a lot of magic!
Barbara – so glad that’s over! And it’s true that husbands have health problems when you could really use help!
Barbara, that sounds like a nightmare! Downsizing is so emotional. My wonderful neighbors have been helping me so much. I pay them with eggs from my egg lady.
Hopefully this is your last move.
As to my eye, I went back to the infectious Disease doctor and my surgeon last Thursday. I still had swelling around my eye. Both doctors felt it was scar tissue and not infection. The disease doctor gave me an antibiotic to take for 14 days just to be sure there was not more infection. My surgeon gave me a steroid shot below my eye where I had a lot of swelling, saying it should help break up the scar tissue. I am happy to report that has helped. I go back to the doctors on May 20, and the surgeon will give me a steroid shot above my eye to help that swelling to go down. My eyelid is still quite swollen. It has been quite a journey. It all started 10 weeks ago today. I am so thankful I can still see out of both eyes.
I so enjoy all the quilts again today. Such beautiful colors! I finally have a hair appointment this morning. I haven’t been to get my hair cut since January. I didn’t want to go when my eye looked and felt so terrible.
Have a great day everyone. I so enjoy all the pictures and reading all the comments. We are friends!!
I am glad to hear things are improving for you. Thanks for the update.
Thank you, Carolyn. It has been quite a journey!
Jeanine – Yes! We are friends!
How fun it is to see all these great quilt projects! I get out so little, so all the pictures give me a window into what others are up to.
Thanks for keeping the wonderful photos coming!
Erin – is there a health reason you don’t get out much?
Love the pictures as always! Trying to get back into sewing-it just seems to always take a back seat to other things. I have finished my radiation treatments with no noticeable side effects other than a little breast tenderness. After the last treatment, when I was dressed, I came out to everyone lined up and clapping. I was given a certificate and asked to ring the bell. I wasn’t expecting that and started crying. Sat in the car and cried for a while before driving home. I have a slow month this time with only two upcoming Dr. visits-Yeah! Oncologist appointment in June.
Carolyn, I know it must be so hard to give up driving but your safety and peace of mind are important.
Thank you Debbie. Your are in my prayers.
Love Kara’s bullseye quilt. It’s made me change my mind about bullseyes!
Jacque – really? No I have to go back and look at Kara’s quilt to see what changed your mind. Bullseye quilts are not for everyone – it can be a little too casual for some quilter s who enjoy sewing precisely. Bullseyes are just for fun – not to be taken too seriously!☺️
The colors appealed to me for some reason, and I do love the talent and ability to put bullseyes together! My arthritic fingers have slowed me down considerably😽No doubt that I’m envious!
Carolyn, you are not alone. My hubby has it in both eyes plus glaucoma. Do you get shots? Jay does about ever 10 weeks. He does still drive three miles to town and tractors etc. He will drive some on highway 20 in Iowa where it isn’t real busy. Our trips to Michigan are staggered with our bathroom breaks every 2-2 1/2 hrs. Not sure how long this will work.
This morning while making coffee, I was greeted with a bright yellow finch and two bright orange oriels.
So beautiful!
It is a busy time here! Planting is finished. Graduation ceremonies and parties are in full swing. We have two grandchildren graduation and a future grandchild. I decided to give the grand-in-laws a quilt also. I have plenty 😊. The two quilts Mary put on the blog yesterday were mine. She did label them as such, thanks Mary. Tonight we have a ceremony and Saturday morning. With parties and awards ceremony in between.
Everyone’s quilts are so beautiful. The first one today is so springy and cheerful!
Hazel and Keeper are quite the hunters. Hazel is so proud! And cute!
It is summer temps here! Have a nice day!
Yes, I get shots in my newly diagnosed eye every four weeks. There has been some improvement. But the driving scared me.
I’ve enjoyed so much seeing everyone’s wonderful quilts in these posts. All make me feel like I am strolling though a quilt show. It’s been so enthusiastic for me seeing all the color variations on your readers Bulleyes quilts.
It’s raining again today and yard feels a little mushy walking around but I’m thankful for the grass knowing Mary misses hers. My husband has had to mow twice a week. We’ve decided to go to our campsite for a couple of days as weather is suppose to be good and the farm market across the street from us has some fun events coming up. Another farm market near us has a cafe opening this weekend and featuring asparagus dishes of which they’ve grown.
And I need to get internet and cable hooked up for us so we aren’t completely out of touch.
I feel for you Caroline in Ohio as I wonder about the same day myself when I make that choice with my deteriorating eyes from MD.
Julie B’s quilt with circles is an amazing array of colors and skill. Thank you, everyone, for sharing your quilt pictures. I haven’t had time to sew recently, what with yard work, washing windows, and such, but seeing all the pictures makes me itch to get back to my sewing machine to finish piecing a small wall hanging. I also need to make pillow covers for my sofa. By the end of the day, I am too tired to apply my brain to sewing. And it does take a brain to figure things out. I am amazed at how many of you can sew after a long day of work. Good for you!
Carolyn, I can’t imagine how hard it is to give up driving. It is the safe thing to do, but what an adjustment! There is a new need to figure out how to handle errands, appointments, and just being out for pleasure shopping. I am wishing the best for you.
Yes, it will be new. Going to call our local transport we have in the county and see how it works. I also have family closeby.
Such beautiful quilts today!! It’s almost like going to a quilt show. Such talent in this group.
What a quilt show for inspiration!
Been working on UFO’s that were put aside for one reason or another. Need to run the Longarm. I have a blue winter quilt on frame. I am a little behind😆.
Lots of rainy, windy days in SW Ohio but supposed to be warmer w/ sun for several days. Yardwork needs to be done but just too wet
. Again, love the quilt photos
First time I could post even if no one posted before me.
Some spectacular quilts.Julie B from Cedar Falls with the circular quilt is quite something. So beautiful! And the Purse Quilt is so cute!! I’ll bet you sold a lot of patterns for that one, you made it up in attractive fabrics.
Cute how the cat figures out how to get out. Mom and Dad’s cat was an indoor/outdoor cat. I can’t remember how she told them she wanted to go out, but to get back in the climbed up on the outside window sill and meowed.I
All of my cats were indoor cats. I had one that would sit by the window where she could smell the catnip outside through the open window. Funny what you can remember. Even with my granddaughter here this week, I could really tell that Buster has bonded with me. I know, it’s because I feed him.😉
My news is I gave up my car because my wet macular degeneration is now in both eyes and I don’t feel comfortable driving. My granddaughter drove it back to Kent State.
I’ve got some adapting to do.
Carolyn – I’m so sorry! Giving up your car is a huge milestone in your life – independence is something we all treasure. It’s wonderful that you were able to “gift” your car to someone who probably needs it and is so grateful to get it. Yes, they know who feeds them!
