I don’t have any news but do have photos to share.

We had quite the thunderstorm this morning about the time I left for church. This limb came down so I gave it to the girls.

Yum!

Molly spent the afternoon with us.

Me thinks somebody is hiding

We’re in for a hot streak this week but it’s about time. I’ve enjoyed all the comments and discussion about the incident involving Caitlin. Facebook is full of discussion and I wish something more drastic had been done. One of the players from Phoenix was upset at a press conference because nobody followed up to see if Alyssa was ok. IF ALYSSA WAS OK???? You’ve got to be kidding. She was the one with her fist pressing against Caitlin’s throat! And her teammates are worried that she’s not ok. You can’t make this stuff up. Sigh.

If Alyssa…. whatever you want to call her had attacked anyone on the street like she attacked Caitlin, she would be in jail & charged with murder & waiting trial. What the heck is wrong with people that they think this brutality is okay? Why isn’t something being done? What kind of a message is this sending to our young people? This isn’t okay!! Why is women’s basketball allowed to be so brutal & nothing is done about it? I just have lots of questions about a sport that’s so fun to watch!

Alice – and many people mention that Caitlyn complains a lot but this is why! All these digs at her all the time and nobody does anything so she appears to be a whiner – jealousy! Alyssa has attacked Caitlyn in the past as well as others

It’s hot here in Omaha too. I froze corn today.. 10
Dozen ears to process. Good job to have done. Have a safe and lovely 4th everyone!

It’s just deplorable to me that this is acceptable behavior and we’re suppose to continue to watch it happen with no serious consequences. It is scary to think people raise children today with this mindset as these are adults making these WBA decisions as well as refs are adults. I agree with Brenda that you allowed us to express our feelings on how a decent woman was deliberately held down and treated unfairly without the support she deserves.
Hope everyone can stay cool in this heat situation. Time for pasta salads and light foods. Because it’s only suppose to be 85 today I am doing a ham dinner so we can have ham salad for sandwiches the rest of this hot week.

Kathy – ham! What a great idea – I love when I have an Easter ham to use all week. Back to the store!

Mary I do mine in the crock pot with some ginger ale over it and then I don’t heat up the kitchen. It sure tasted good tonight. We had my sister and her significant other join us so they took some ham home too. Ham and cheese omelets in the morning.

    2. Helen

Would love to know your recipe for your ham salad. That sounds really good with a pasta salad. Thanks for everyone for their pictures. Love seeing them!

Helen, my husband attaches the grinder onto our stand mixer and puts chunks of ham into it and then mixes in Mayo and sweet relish. That’s it. I love it for sandwiches.

Screw Alyssa. She needs to be arrested for attempted murder. Her team mates also need to be charged with assisting with the attempted murder. Facts are facts and if there is any question about it just look at the video.

In regards to your goats’ horns, I saw somewhere that a cut up piece of a pool noodle was used to go over the horns. The small noodles looked festive. I think that might prevent you from getting gored.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Ann – I saw that, too, but actually it wasn’t even her horn – it was just her head and I was carrying a slice of hay thst she evidently wanted, haha! But I’m keeping this in mind

Good morning all! Not sure just what I’ve shared about the water line break so far, so here goes. As I think I stated before, due to these homes being built on concrete slabs the water lines are under that concrete. I hired a very expensive leak detection Co to pinpoint the area where the break is. The break isn’t there. Since it doesn’t appear there’s any charts to where any of these pipes go, 2 plumbers haven’t found the break, but have capped off that line. I have a 20″ hole that’s been jackhammered in my walk in closet. I have piles of clothes, etc all over my house…but at least I can somewhat use my kitchen! Ron has graciously allowed me to use his guest room! My bed is piled high with closet stuff! I’m beside myself as we need to find this break! And I’m scheduled to have new flooring put down next Monday! Certainly pros & cons for basements! With a basement it would have been an easy find! The break is in the house, not in the yard. This is a nightmare! And Ron & I both have had this upper respiratory stuff that’s going around. Boots is not happy staying at Ron’s, so brought him home to “his recliner” for a while, this is his home. Waiting now to hear from the leak detection guy! Hoping for a miracle!

Alice – oh, I am so sorry! These are professionals – and they poured a slab over the water line? Wow, doesn’t sound like it makes sense to me but maybe that’s what they always do. I guess basements are more important than I ever thought. Poor Boots – he wants his chair!! Please keep us updated on this horrible situation you’re trying to live thru.

      1. Alice in SW Ohio

Mary, the update on this mess is the break is a lot deeper, closer to 3 foot. It appears that in building a home on a slab all the pipes are put into pea gravel then concrete is poured on top of that. To get to these pipes once the home is built the concrete has to be jackhammered once the leak is pinpointed. The leak detection guys came back today & have pinpointed the area. Fortunately they did not charge me for a 2nd trip out here. Unfortunately the hot water heater will have to come out. Now just waiting on the plumber to fit me onto his busy schedule! I did give the guys money for lunch & cool drinks, it was 92* here today. They deserved that little treat!

Alice – I feel so bad for you / it’s been going on too long – such an upheaval! Stay strong and hug Boots! Ron, too!

We had a water line in our slab break last summer. It was a hot water line, so I knew something was wrong when the bathroom floor was warm. Too bad it wasn’t winter; the warm floor would have felt good. They rerouted the hot water line through the attic, using plex tubing wrapped in a lot of insulation. It can stand the winter temps. I suppose it would have been more difficult to find a cold water line break.

      1. Mary Etherington Post author

Beryl – wow / you know just what Alice is going thru! We have heat in our concrete floors and it’s wonderful
In the winter. I’m feeling bad for Alice / this has been going on too long for her.

Looks like the goat girls enjoyed the limb! Molly looks happy. I didn’t get a quilt finished for the 250th but will keep working on it. Just caught our nemesis #7 last night – raccoon 🦝! You should be getting a package today Miss Mary😻. Happy birthday a little early!!! ❤️

All of the quilts are beautiful and I especially enjoyed seeing the kitty tail sticking out from under the quilt! That made me laugh!
Anyone know if there’s a pattern for the capital, rose, flag mini quilt? That one really stole my heart.

Good morning! Sunday morning I wrote we had 1.6 inches in the new electronic gauge. Guess what, the old time gauges had 2.9 and 2.5. Why ?? Our son is totally perplexed! The electronic one was highly recommended on Ag Talk for farmers. Farmers Facebook! Hahhaa. Anyway, what matter was we were blessed with rain, and no damage except a few twigs. Love the pictures.
The smaller brown dog with the happy face is my granddaughters boyfriend’s dog and her name is Remi! Remi got to work last Friday with the boyfriend who is a physical therapist at assisted livings. No wonder she looks so happy! She probably had more hugs and kisses than ever. She is really sweet!
Well, therapy today! I’ll let you know.
Have a good one! Your grass will really grow now Mary!

Joy – I’m chuckling about your rain gauge! Yup, ours is a simple marked tube – old style. Your son should post on Farmers Facebook – what a disappointment. Ugh – therapy – not fun but necessary!!

Hi Mary, met 2 lovely rescue dogs today when we visited the s.p.c.a.shop(society for prevention of cruelty to animals),Boy and Remy, big dogs, but friendly. I got a couple of duvet covers which l use for the backs of quilts, no expensive $30 metre backing for me! Then a haircut and home again. Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy

Sandy – what was the reason you visited the SPCA? Were you looking for another dog?

thank you for caring and allowing us to express our love and concern for another human being. There has been a double dose of ugliness against women and young ladies with a deafening silence and lack of support.
