It’s been a long day and I don’t have a single thing to tell you. The dr. will do a zoom call on Thursday – I don’t have Zoom!!!! So now I need to figure that out.
So I pull in the yard and there’s a bad hair day chicken up by the house! What???? She can’t find her way out of a wet paper bag so what’s she doing all the way across the yard? I literally ran to the barn to get the net. As I go into the barn, the two big goats are in with the chickens! What??? So I run them back to their pen and grab the chicken with the net. And you wonder why I don’t go anywhere?
Here’s the best news – I originally was going to have to drive back to Rochester on Thursday but now it’s going to be a virtual appointment. The most surprising thing today was hand x-rays. My hands do hurt at times but not right now. I should have just told her I was a quilter. It goes with the territory.
One quilt to show you:

I just had a zoom call with Mayo Clinic this morning. I downloaded the zoom workplace app on my phone. When you check in online for your appt there will be a way to test your device to see if it’s working properly. Then just before the appt you log into your Mayo acct on your phone and there will be a link to join the video visit. I find it easier to use my phone as one of the tests for the computer is to record and play back something I say and I can never get it to play back. Also when you hit the appt link the doctor may not be on there yet so you can just wait. I hope you read this before your appt and that it helps.
Judy – thank you! Michele came this afternoon and got it all set up for me
Yeah Michelle (Hanks mom) for helping Mary get Zoom loaded. Thanks!!! I use it for our church services now when at camp and for meetings during Covid. Once I was to use it for my doctor and I messed it up so he ended up calling me to go over results. Still got billed on insurance even when I made the mistake. I think the doctors offices are use to it for the convenience of not having to make people drive back.
Kathy – it went great and I’m going to use my free day to sew and look at my purchases from the antique mall.
What!!!!! You got some new thrift finds and haven’t shown us yet!!!!!
Kathy – yup! And I didn’t have time today either!!!
Mary,
Quiet day here. Husband went golfing early and after working in the garden for an hour, I went to Kroger for a few things. In the checkout line I remembered Scotch was coming for the day!! I rushed home and saw my neighbors were in their driveway packing up their car. I went over and Sara said Scotch jumped in the car as they were packing up and he won’t get out! I saw him and said, “Scotch, come on, let’s go for a quick walk “ Scotch was out of the car in a flash! Lol. Pets!! We are going to check on the chickens soon.
I pulled the fabric for my next UFO. I absolutely love this fabric line…may be why I have kept it so long!
I hope everyone has a great day! 🌻
I love Zoom! There are Zoom apps for your iPad or computer as well as your phone. Or you can use the web browser on your computer (Edge, Chrome, Safari). Your doctor will likely email you instructions to install the Zoom app, and then a link to tap or click for the actual conversation.
Every two weeks, I have a Zoom conversation with a long-time friend who lives in California. I use my computer so I don’t have to hold my phone. And the large screen is nice, to see her dear face. Zoom allows anyone to have a 40-minute session free of charge. No limit on how many of these you do, either.
Did your big goats open the gates by themselves? Hope all the hoofed and feathered folks are OK.
And I hope you get some answers from the doctor. As my doctor-daughter has said to me, “It’s good to know what it is, so we can deal with it.”
That quilt is amazing! Love it!
We bought a brand new car yesterday. It took nearly the whole day. I drove it into our driveway at 5:35PM. That was without a trade in, as we kept the pick-up. We are back to two vehicles again. It was getting to be too hard to park in small spaces and I didn’t want to draw any attention to crooked parking. lol The new one will be the town car.
Raining here this morning. Surprise! It wasn’t in the forecast. Also, very cool. Reminds me of a spring morning, not a mid summer morning.
Congratulations on the new car! What did you decide on? My dh thinks that one car is just fine, except that he is the one who always has it and his lifestyle hasn’t changed one whit. I love being home, but only when I choose to be 🙂 so I am looking for an affordable car for myself.
Susan— omg! Rick and I each have 2! There’s no way I could share a car
By the way, Honda Civic is a very nice car to drive, and mine hasn’t broken down yet! It’s a 2012, I bought it used in 2015 maybe, and it only had 14,000 miles on it. It’s been the best car. I take it back to the Honda dealer for upkeep. So did the previous owner. Which was nice when the airbags had to be replaced, due to the age of the vehicle I got a discount because the car had only been repaired by the dealer. Good luck with buying something you like! My husband doesn’t drive it. He bought a Lexus last year – he does a lot of driving and needed a comfortable seat. That was his main priority!
Mary, I love the illusion of the quilt. I could never put something like that together.
Your virtual meeting with your doctor, I’ve been doing those with my doctor since before COVID, when they were necessary. I even was doing virtual grief counseling for 2 years. So much more convenient than face to face. I used my Android phone, iPhone will work too, with the app on your phone you hear and see your doctor. Good luck
I have never had a zoom meeting medical wise. Not sure I like it other than it saves you from driving. They want less and less contact is my guess and maybe be able shuffled people better. Cuts costs from having to hire. More changes are coming.
Love the 3 D look quilt. It pops!
I have a UFO Club meeting today (quilts of course). Mine is done!
Love the optical illusion!
Mary, I think your animals saw you leave and said, ah, there she goes…let’s have some fun. The goats always wanted to check out the chicken pen and they let out Bad Hair Day in the process and she really enjoyed her freedom!
The two family’s that came to visit are your step children and grandchildren? Or no….just friends.
Well, if anyone’s day is blah and boring, mine was. Therapy and then sleep. Man! Knocks me out.
Joy – before Rick and I got married in 1997, I “dated” Randy, the kids’ dad. They were 7, 11 and 12 at the time. Their mother had left them to marry her boss! Leaving 3 kids!!! So I sorta filled in for quite a few years making them pretty important to me and the feeling is mutual. Kate lives in NJ so only gets here once a year – she has 2 girls. Blake, with 2 boys, lives in DesMoines and doesn’t get to Garner much – lots of ballgames and activities. So in the end I think of these little kids as close to grandchildren that I’ll ever have. Quinn, the oldest, is 13!
Did you ever see my question about a pastor from your area?
That’s a fun quilt! I remember how our goats were always in trouble, and the turkeys, ducks, and chickens seemed to find creative ways to get into trouble. I have always found ways to get into trouble, myself, so our little farm was always interesting.
Erin – haha! This wouldn’t have happened if I were home because I walk to the barn many times a day! Rick can’t walk so I get it.
It’s still hot here in SW Ohio, close to 90, again. Can’t believe the grounds crew will be mowing the grass, we’ve not had rain in a couple of weeks & the grass is turning brown. Mary, you will love the zoom appt with your Dr. Not sure if they’ll send you a link to download the app or what. I’ve had the app since COVID days. My Dr sent us the link & it was very easy. Today the new plumbers will be here to find the break in the waterline & I’ll see just how expensive this is going to be! He gave me the name of a restoration guy that will work with my insurance co to put everything back to the way it was. Found out some interesting things from this plumber about the installation of all these pipes. I can’t wait for this to be over & put everything back where it belongs & be able to get to my sewing room! I had to chuckle over the bad hair day hen & the goats….life is never dull on a farm is it? Everyone have a good day! Loved the picture of the kids that came to visit you! Kids always love driving golf carts & you have the perfect safe place for them to drive it! They will always remember this as they get older! Sweet memories for everyone.
Alice – I explained in a comment my connection with the kids. Feel free to read that. Im so happy your water situation is nearly back to normal – you’ve endured a lot. I’m hoping to visit my sewing room today, too.
Sometimes I wonder if our animals save us or age us!!! I can so relate to what happened to you! It always makes me laugh when I think of people that talk about getting their ducks in a row….. goodness, mine aren’t even in the same room!!! You gotta laugh over it all. You sure didn’t need all that after the long day you had that’s for sure.
Glad you’re spared the drive to Minneapolis tomorrow. Zoom is easy — I know you can do it!
Too hot here to do much of anything but sew. Heat index is supposed to be 107 today. 😳 Sheep quilt is done, just waiting on extra fabric to make it bigger. Need to rummage around and find the next project.
Hi Mary, another day of rain, off and on, continuing tomorrow, but cooler and more wind! The poor south island is getting flooding in some areas, thank goodness for my sump keeping water away here! Putting binding on latest quilt tomorrow, next dresden plates! Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
Sandy – I think you are my most productive reader.
Great quilt. Today I was in my sewing room but not quilting. I sewed a cover for my sewing machine. I have the one that came with the machine but it is starting to tear at one end. This cover has soft and stable sandwiched between muslin so it’s sturdy and will protect it from the sun too.
Great news Mary, virtual appnts are so much easier. Have a wonderful day everyone.
Such an interesting optical illusion quilt! Health and Happiness from Denise
Your day reminds me of a song – “That’s Life.”
The quilt is so striking. I don’t know what the pattern is called but I’ve seen it before. I don’t recall that I’ve seen it with such different fabrics like this one.
