I spent the day reading the last half of this book because I just had to! That’s why this book “Before The Fall” is now going to my Top Ten List of Thrillers. It is masterfully written in flashbacks about the people who were killed in a plane crash – before the fall. I just never saw the conclusion coming! It’s another one of those books that you keep thinking about long after you finish reading. I’ll need a new book before I go to bed tonite but can I concentrate on it?
I loved the Ken Follett series that starts with Fall of Giants. It takes place in Europe in the Twenties and then goes on into WWII and beyond. There are three books and they are BIG, but you really get caught up in the families!! Finishing up two table toppers for Sunday–yikes!! MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone:)
I would to see the whole list!
Sounds like you read in bed every night like I do. Always on the prowl for a new book. This one sounds great.
Mary…I am looking for a great book!!!! May I borrow it?
After this weekend of course🤓
Look for books by Vince Flynn, Nelson DeMille and of course, Ken Follett. They’re all great writers and the books are hard to put down. They were a great comfort to me last year when arthritis crippled my hands to the point where I couldn’t pick up a needle.
Ooh..will have to put this on my list.
Several of the books I’ve enjoyed reading over the past year or so are:
– The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith – the first crime novel written by J.K. Rowling under a pseudonym.
– Three Weeks To Say Goodbye by C.J. Box
– Back Of Beyond by C.J. Box
– Blue Heaven by C.J. Box
– Open Season by C.J. Box- this is the first book in the Joe Picket series. I have read all the books in this series of fifteen and enjoyed every one of them.
As you have already guessed, C.J. Box is one of my favorite authors.
Merry Christmas!
Diane – I really must look into this his author! Thanks!
Read the C.J. Box Joe Picket books in the order they were written. They are absolutely wonderful. I used to live about 50 miles south of Ten Sleep so they are like visiting back there. My niece introduced them to me. When I showed her where I used to live her comment was “no wonder you really like them.”
Betty – I’ve tried to determine which is number one but cannot. Can you tell me?
The first 3 listed titles are not in the Joe Pickett series. The Pickett series starts with Open Season. Next– Savage Run, Winterkill, Trophy Hunt, Out of Range, In Plain Sight, Free Fire, Blood Trail, Below Zero and etc….. The story includes such real people, just like the real people who live there, and adds as the series continues. C. J. Box lives in Wyoming and the places are true to life. Plus there is humor, mystery, adventure and sometimes “can’t put the book down” reading. They are laid back and so nice. Just everything that makes a good book.
Betty – thank you so much!
Thanks for the great recommendation! I just put in a hold request to the library.
Hi Mary,
Feeling nostalgic is part of the season but I’m nostalgic for (my young) life on the farm all year long and look forward to your every post.
Regarding your love for books, I believe you’d like Fragile Beasts by Tawni O’Dell.
Merry Christmas, Mary, and Happy New Year!
Marcia (from Eagan)
Returned that book yesterday….. it has gotten so I can’t read in bed….. the eyes can’t focus on the print. So I read in a chair during the day….. but not books…. well quilt books… and mags and other mail that comes through the house. I miss reading in bed.
Get the audio books. They are good to quilt by, too.
A good book to read every evening is a must here. I will give this author a try as my favorite genres are mystery and legal thrillers. Also, must throw in a lighter humorous/mystery on occasion. Jana Deleon and Victoria Laurie are my favorites for the lighter side. This blog is just loaded with so many good tips and subject matter. Thanks for the tip.
Wishing you a very Blessed Christmas!
You should do a blog that lists your top ten thrillers! Ya know…in all your free time. 😉
