Trashed! 10-22-20

Here is the quilt shop – an absolute disaster! One more day and I can clean up – it’s going to take the power washer and shop vac and a big fire. I have never seen anything like it – I do clean it up, put down fresh newspapers, go into the house and come back to this. It’s almost funny except that I’m the one who has to clean it up. What a wild bunch of puppies!

But then there’s this.

Doesn’t that just melt your heart?

But don’t be fooled – remember this.

    Oh Mary,
How can you get upset when you look at those faces. You will have your work cut out for you when they leave. Then take a good rest.

Such puppies, so sweet but puppies get into everything. Tess is not a puppy but she tried to write a check to order more balls today, she has no opposable thumbs so she ate the checkbook instead! You will miss the little stinkers when they are gone.

Oh, my gosh! Look at those sweet little faces. No matter what you’ve been dealing with, Mary, Saturday will still be a sad day for you. But pat yourself on the back for all that you have done for those little cuties & their mom.

Awww. Those puppy faces melt your heart❤️ They are so sweet. I will miss seeing them after they go back to the shelter. I hope all of them get great, loving homes! Then, Mary, you can clean A LOT and then take a much needed REST! You are awesome to give them such a great start. Bless you. 80 degrees here today!

Oh my! But you will have peace that you know they were given a good start! Look how they have grown. Those eyes are enough to want to keep one or two!! Bring them to their new forever homes on Saturday with total peace…hard as it will be. Tehy did make a mess but they loved you.

    You are such a blessing!

Puppies!!!! Suchsweet faces and they look so happy and healthy, but yikes!!! Looks like they had FUN!!!! You will live having your space back as you like it, but you will miss them, too!!

‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling these smalls ,so… Let’s celebrate together!’ Mt 25:23 ( my paraphrasing)!!

Oh my! Just oh my!! One forgets how busy little pups can be. THANK YOU again… and again for what you have done. All those little pups will miss each other when they go to their new homes.

It takes a special person to accept all the mess puppies make and that’s you! I like to think they will remember their second mom who took them in and let them make all that mess. I’ve been there and done that and it is difficult to keep up after those little balls of energy but their sweet faces say it all, they are happy and healthy thanks to you. God bless you for all you do! I do hope Miss Nyla gets a wonderful, loving home too.

I love the puppies, especially the black and grey. They have had wonderful care from you to start their life. I hope their new owners will love them as much.❤💕

I have to say that I laughed when I got to the part about it taking a “big fire”…especially since I know you aren’t kidding! It’s almost like they say “she’s gone…let’s have a party!” A baby monitor with a camera would have been fun to watch…haha We’ll all remember Kala, the 8 puppies and your love for them. They have all been very fortunate to have you.

  13. Kathy in western NY

I do hope their new owners give them the love you have given them. Happy puppies they are so you gotta love them. They will all cry for each other their first nights apart. Oh boy, that I wouldn’t want to hear that. Nala now needs as good a home to forever be loved and continue to trust a human will feed her. A warm day for us here and then tumbling into fall so I am going outside to enjoy as much of this day as I can.

  14. Sharon Lowy

How on earth are you going to say goodbye to those precious puppies? What a service you provided. I wish I could have Nala. I don’t have chickens but do have a cat.❤️

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Sharon Lowy – I think Nala could actually learn to live with cats – she began to mind my voice without pause. Had she been here longer I was going to bring her into the house and work with her. I think it could be done with close supervision .

Oh, those puppy faces just make me smile and melt my heart. But it is a puppy world, so that explains all the mess. Enjoy it while it lasts. I’m sure you will miss all those little darlings when they leave.

  16. Wendy T.

Mary- You will sleep well at night knowing you gave your all to these fur babies. You’ll see – the memories of the mess and the work you did will fade and you will just remember the love and happiness that they gave you in return. That’s how most important and rewarding things go thankfully! You did such a great job and they are all very fortunate to have been cared for so well. I hope that each will get adopted by loving families who will also care for them well.

Love those adoring eyes looking at you and I think they are saying “Thank you for a nice place to live”. Kudos to you for giving these puppies and their Mom a great way to have a nice life. It will probably be a bitter sweet day tomorrow when they have to go up for adoption. Are they going to the kennels tomorrow?

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Lorraine – they are going back to the shelter tomorrow, will be spayed/neutered on Tuesday and go to their new homes the following weekend

  18. Kimberly Lusin

Oh my goodness! They are adorable and you are a saint! It will be good to get back to normal, but you will miss them. I’m going to miss the pictures of them. Thank you for sharing!

  19. Kathy Hanson

Oh my! So easy to be fooled when I see those beautiful puppies, but…I don’t know how you do it!!
What a job you have facing you this weekend! However you will miss those sweet puppies, but not the mess!! Hopefully you will have some lovely times to get something else done!! 😊❤️

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Kathy Hanson – I will be cleaning this afternoon – I cannot wait till tomorrow! I will miss the puppies but not the mess!

  20. Sheila in WI

Those puppies are absolutely adorable. But I can’t even imagine all the work and busyness that is involved. Prayers for tomorrow when they all leave and suddenly there is absolute silence… well except for the vacuum etc. Be still.

Oh, my gosh! You must be counting the hours to when you get your life back. We once had a dog that had 8 puppies. We kept them in the garage and when they got to this stage….well, you know. But they would run to us and gather around, jumping and wiggling. You could barely take a step without stepping on one of them. And, of course, there was all that yapping and vying for attention. Adorable they were, though, so we were able to give them all away. Those were the days when you advertised “Free Puppies” in your local paper. They were a Heinz variety, so we just happily gave them away. The mom, Cocoa, was spayed right away, which I should have done much earlier. We had three teenagers then, so life was very busy. I would not trade those times and memories for anything. Soon these puppies will be a memory and a good one.

You know what I love best about you Mary? You don’t just talk big you act BIG!! There are many people who want to see dogs taken care of and not abused but it takes a BIG person to put her heart where the mouth is…I don’t know any woman my age who would volunteer to take a scared and sickly mother-dog and her 8 unwieldly puppies into her home and spend endless hours cleaning, feeding, and nurturing them!!! Not only have you saved 9 dogs but you have changed the lives of 9 strangers for the better. These sweet mess makers are going to bless many many people. Think of a lonely couple, a family with children, or a single that gets to adopt these cuties! I am so so proud of you! I wish I could come over and help you clean, take you out for dinner, and then leave you with a gift certificate to get a massage!! YOU ARE A HERO!!!

    1. Kathy in western NY

You are so spot on Carolyn!! I know not one of my friends at our ages who would have nurtured 9 dogs to live like Mary has done. She has stood behind what’s right and believed in and if only more around would have the same compassion. I agree, I wish we all lived closer to give her an extra hand.

  23. Patty

    They are all darling..
You, my dear, are a saint!
At least referring to your photo might make it easier to let them go…be well. Thank You for caring for the needy ones.

  24. Martha Engstler Gettysburg

I chime in with all the wonderful things others have said, you are a special hero. I wonder if you will ever know where the puppies go when they are adopted. Are they already spoken for?

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Martha Engstler – all the puppies have deposits on them and I was invited to be there next weekend when they go to their new owners. I’m not sure I will go however. I’m returning them all this morning to the shelter. They will be spayed/neutered on Tuesday.

  25. Teresa in Port Coquitlam, BC

I too totally agree with Carolyn Barnett. You don’t just talk the talk you walk the walk as they say. You have changed the lives of 9 dogs forever and you are a saint. I too wish I lived close enough to give you a helping hand.

  26. Susan Boyd in VA

You’ve got way too much stuff for those puppies to get into! They do redeem themselves with their sweetness and when they sleep, though. You’ve been wonderful to care for them. When we had puppies it was that age when I’d walk through the puppy room and they chewed my shoe laces and hung from my sweat pants that I knew it was time for them to go! You seem to forget all the bad and miss them terribly. They’ll make 8 families very happy. You’ve done a wonderful thing taking them in.

Mary! The World Series game last night was a game for training films, the decades, and I’m SO glad I didn’t miss it!! What a game tonight’s will be!!
Now, at 19* snow covered ? Not yet! Talking about Kansas City Chiefs playing in Denver against the Bronco team.
I so enjoy your writing, pictures, and experiences. I’d sure like to visit your church to hear you play! Glad the foster puppies move on today. Wish I could help you clean up your room!
Thanks for all you share with us!!

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Gloria Gleason – we watched the end of that game last night – wow! I’m so glad I didn’t go to bed before the game was over! I’m watching right now – I don’t even care who wins – I just love watching the games. Also watched KC wipe out the Broncos this afternoon in the snow. A very lopsided game.

I love the Brindle puppy. It took my eye the first picture you had of them. I wish I was closer! I hope it gets a loving home. God Bless you for all you do for these lost creatures.
