Went to my annual eye appointment today – have you looked at frames lately? I think I’d like a pair of really funky frames – I see the best ones online!
When I got home I took the bored dogs to the hayground so they could live their best lives – here’s what they were up to for several hours.

Let’s look at some more fabulous Bullseye quilts!

I am really interested in how these are quilted – since I can only do straight lines, I’d like to see if I could do this.
Just ending up this post when skunk smell hit me like a ton of bricks!! Poor Keeper took a hit and tumbled in the door! I had already given them their bedtime snack and Keeper always takes his last Milkbone outside to enjoy. And that’s when the smell hit me – we’ve lit the only candle we own, Keeper is hiding in my closet! And Hazel went to bed. We haven’t had this happen for many, many years – it’s going to be a long night.
Once again, like Becky always says – you can’t make this shit up!

I have a bowl just like yours from the same company, but it is red. I’ve had mine for almost 49 years and use it all the time. I received another bowl without a handle with it, but I haven’t had it for a very long time.
Love all the bullseye quilts! Thanks for posting the pictures, Mary.
That Hazel!! I love the butt end photos. Poor Keeper. Hope the smell goes away quickly. I remember when Biscuit got sprayed by a skunk. I was home alone with him and did the peroxide/soda/dawn mixture. He wanted so badly to get in the house but I kept him in the garage. I was never so glad when my son got back and took Biscuit home!
I worked in my backyard garden and greenhouse quite a bit today. It was low 60s and perfect for gardening. My husband went fishing so I had no one to get in the way! I put out a lot of garden decorations and it looks so nice with the spring flowers.
Have a happy Thursday everyone. 🌻
I’m so sorry about the skunk attack. I’m sure Keeper was miserable as well as you, Mary. Is it just me, or did anyone else think the first picture of Hazel was a duck?? Then I saw the butt in the air and knew right away. 🤣 She’s always digging for “gold”. Loving all the Bullseye quilts. It’s on my list to do someday. Thanks everybody.
Love all the pictures of the bullseye quilts!! Hazel looks like she is digging a hole as big as she is!! I’m afraid she will disappear in the hole she dug!!! So sorry Keeper got skunked, it’s the worst!! I have lots of good dog/skunk stories from the many dogs we have had over the years!!!
Deb – is there any smell worse than skunk? Or harder to get rid of?
The Bullseye quilts are all amazing; thanks so much for posting!
I am so sorry for you and Keeper. 🫢 Hopefully you don’t hurt your back bathing him. He’s such a sweetheart; he will be cooperative.
It was 80 something yesterday, and I am in sweats today.
Take Care, Mary 🥰
Looking at that rear view of Hazel sure brought back some memories. I have some of the same look alike photos of Boone after chipmunks & groundhogs. Poor Keeper. One summer my Dad stepped out of his back door and stepped right on a skunk. My mother made him undress outside & they lived right in town. Love all the bullseye quilts & I hope your day is less exciting then these past few days have been.
It never fails, I learn something new every time I visit here. Not sure what it will be, but I love it.
. Today’s lesson, skunks.
Poor Keeper! LOLOLOLOL Love the quilts!
Oh the joy of loving pets! Farm life ads to the joy! Poor Keeper and poor you. As it goes… this too will pass.Ha! Loving the quilts. So many interpretations.
This works for skunked dogs: 16oz. bottle of peroxide(new), 1 box baking soda, 2 or 3 generous squints of dishwasher soap, enough water to make it soupy but not too much. Mix it up and rub in dogs fur, down to the skin if you can. Leave it on for several minutes then rinse off. Recommended by our vet. It works!
Yes, that recipe works–way better than the previous remedy of tomato juice. Everyone with a dog should keep the ingredients around….just in case. We particularly like Dawn dish soap as it seems to work better than other soap varieties.
That being said Hank has not encountered a skunk………..yet! 🙂
Sharon – that’s exactly what I did about 30 minutes ago – I had to go buy peroxide!!
Loving all the bull’s eye quilts!
So sorry about Keeper’s run in with the skunk. You can get recipes online for getting rid of the smell. One person here mentioned douche and yes when I worked for an animal hospital years ago, vinegar douche was recommended! But there are several recipes online that can help! Years ago when one of our dogs got skunked I used vinegar/shampoo and water, just scrubbed and scrubbed being careful of the eyes, rinsed well, and it helped a lot! Good Luck!
Oh, I don’t envy you trying to get the skunk smell out. Been there done that. And poor Buster was just standing by the porch minding his own business when the skunk approached him. I think the dog and the skunk were just too curious of each other. I’m standing there trying to get Buster to back away. Ha!! He got lots of baths. With help from my granddaughter. You have your work cut out for you!!!!
When I think of funky glasses I think of Gayle King. Hope you’re happy with your new frames.
The Bullseye Quilts are so much fun and all so different! I love that! Skunk—ugh. Poor you, Mary, and poor Keeper. I took my friend with cancer to the ER yesterday. She did too much and hurt her ribs. She is better with meds.
Toooo busy, but trying to get some table runners finished for our daughter for Mother’s Day.
I can’t wait to see what you pick for new glasses, Mary.
The dogs looked they had a ball, but it’s too bad you’re having to pay for it!
I’m so enjoying the bullseye quilt photos! I made a few blocks, hoping to get my quilting group to make one for charity, but they chose another project. I’ll find those blocks and finish a quilt for charity or maybe keep it. It would be hard to give it away!
Yes, I’d love to see the quilting on these quilts, for I have no idea how I’d quilt mine.
Love the variety in the Bulleyes quilts and I agree that seeing the quilting would be informative. I machine quilted around the circle and then did a meandering in between the blocks. It took a lot of shifting on my domestic machine as I don’t have a long arm but it worked out doing a little each day.
Poor Keeper experiencing that run in. I hope you can help him today get rid of the smell. If he smelled Hazel to make sure it was the same dog when she came home from the spa, you can imagine how he must feel about himself stinking.
We had a 40 degree drop in temperature from yesterday and the weather that came through but my lilacs look hardy and ready to open soon.
Thanks everyone for sharing your Bullseye quilts. So lovely and everyone is different, good job ladies. Mary sorry that Keeper had a run in with a skunk. Sorry for you too.
Spent yesterday doing a little quilting and then cutting up scraps into 2 1/2 squares with my quilting buddy using the AccuQuilt dies. Always more to do.
Sammie got skunked three times last summer, she won’t leave anything alone. The first skunking got her in the face, including her mouth – she never shuts up so i assume she was barking at the skunk. I tried everything. Tomato juice works a little if you dump a lot on them right away, the skunk remover from the pet store is ok and there is a odor removing shampoo that works good, you just need to have that all on hand for such emergencies. Sammie smelled for over a couple of months because I couldn’t get the smell around her eyes, nose and mouth completely. She will never learn! Poor Keeper, good luck!
I figured Hazel wouldn’t stay white to long, love that little butt sticking out of the ground!
Skunk! The WORST!! Even with the diluent the smell lingers for a long time. Our country feed store sells a skunk smell remover. It works but only to a degree. Poor keeper. Poor Mary!
Hi Mary, wish l looked as cute as Hazel from behind! She is a busy girl!Poor keeper and the skunk smell! They certainly keep you on your toes! Enjoying the bullseye quilts. Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
Ugh, it’s horrible I hear when they get sprayed. My son and I took our first dog on a walk along the river in the fall forgetting the salmon had been spawning and dying along the river. Our dog took off and rubbed his head in a decaying salmon. My son owned a flatbed truck and he went home in my car to switch vehicles, there was no way he was riding in my car. We used the skunk smell remover, homemade solution – I can only remember it has peroxide and some other ingredients. It sure helped get rid of the horrid smell.
I’m sure enjoying the bullseye quilt shows. Thanks for posting all the pictures.
Oh those dogs!! They sure keep life interesting! That skunk smell is the worst and lingers for days. We’ve only had one dog ever get sprayed and that was years ago. After his bath, he still stunk for days.
Another night of fun photos-just love all of the variety.
So what you are saying is that the “tomato juice” remedy is a myth? I have always wondered if it worked or not.
The tomato juice worked on our Great Dane many years ago. I actually had brought in all the rest of the tomatoes from the vine that day, so just put them in the blender and that is what was used
OMG…Had that happen once to our dog. Horrible! I went to town and got 2 boxes of douch. Yes, douch. Washed him in it and it helps a lot but there will still be a lingering odor for awhile. Ugh
What an eventful night for you! Not only does Keeper smell but I’m thinking your clothes will too. It’s spring in Iowa!! The BE quilts are so amazingly different. I’ll get my pattern requests off to you tomorrow.
