This was my big job today – cleaning and sorting in the garden shed. Lots of things were sold at the sale in June and I finished sorting it out today for Pumpkin Day. Now the marking begins once again.
The things that remain are what I want to keep for now. I have gotten rid of so much stuff – this room was so full, the door wouldn’t even open all the way. What a wonderful feeling!
Here is Jane’s block that I forgot to post last night – I love this block!
And my day was filled with Gus, one of the sweetest puppies I’ve ever known. Since he is going to be here 2 weeks, we had to start teaching him certain routines. Last night at midnight, Telly and Gus were still out in the grove playing and I had to go out after them in the golf cart – in the dark, in my bathrobe, with a big flashlight. Ha! Even though I was ready for bed, they were not.
Gus needed a couple naps today. And tomorrow will be more of the same.
Remember the Granny Square quilt? It’s finally on the quilting machine.
I’ve mailed out quite a few rug books with DVDs – watch your mailbox. If anybody else wants a Rugs From Rags book and DVD, mail $20 to Country Threads, 2345 Palm Ave., Garner, IA 50438. We will finish Gypsy Wife before we start the “rug along” where we will all make a rug one step at a time.
How much is that doggy in the garden shed? Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Tell me that wouldn’t make good TV viewing, you in a golf cart, driving in the dark, with your bathrobe on, corralling two dogs to stop playing and go to bed. All that is missing is a lasso. I do love Jane’s block, the red, black and white is striking. I do love the Granny Square quilt, can’t wait to see it quilted. Which Lori Holt book is the pattern from?
I ordered the book: Great Granny Squared
Gus & I would fair well together….I like staying up late at night as well as take naps!! lol
I was wondering about your Granny Square quilt – never expected that it was at the quilting stage! You have been busy!!
I shared some of my quilt pictures with one of the nurses today (Storm-at-Sea, Blended Trip, Rubiks Cube, etc.) and she was curious when I was going to get back to quilting? Good question…
Oops….forgot to say that I like Jane’s color combination!!
Mary, I don’t know how you find the time to do all that you do! Fantastic. What a treasure trove of a garden shed.
Gus looks like a real sweety, no wonder he needs to nap after being chased around the grove at midnight: how exciting can life get for a dog!
I have the Granny squared pattern too, but that is on the ‘future quilt’ list, for the moment. I think that will be a 30s reproduction quilt.
And way to go Jane, what a great Gypsy Wife block! I can’t wait to see all the finished quilts from the quilt-along.
Regards, Fiona.

Love Janes block, nice contrast and great use of color! Love the granny quilt too, I like seeing all the different fabrics up close.
Intending to order the book and DVD…where is my brain that I forget each day to do so?
Can’t say I’m busy when I see all YOU do!
Morning Mary,
Nice to see the beautiful block and your Granny Quilt on the frame. You are so full of energy!!
Our two dogs used to run all over my son’s fenced back yard late at night like Gus and Telly. We were waiting for our home to be finished a couple blocks away.
How bout a picture of the pumpkin patch again?
This may sound mean, but when we had dogs over that stayed up all night, we would wake them up during all their attempted naps the next day to ensure better sleeping the following night 😉
Thanks for all the updates. I love to see what you are sewing. Isn’t retirement great. I don’t know how we manage to work all those yrs. Cause now we are having fun and time flies way too quickly.
Makes sense to me!
