Update

There was no getting Tammy to the vet. I’ve been practicing petting her for several weeks and she’s been pretty tolerant until today when I sat down beside her and she shot out of the chair. I could never find her again before it was too late for my appointment so I had to cancel. I cried I was so upset.

I also forgot to post the Dirty Dozen pictures – and now I hope I remember where I left off. If YOUR picture doesn’t get posted, please let me know.

And I’m not sure why I can’t get a Martingale link to work so I’ll just tell you about the program tomorrow night. It’s a new episode of Craft In America on PBS at 7 pm central time and Ken Burns is a guest.

The second I hit “publish”, I’ll think of something I forgot. What a terrible day it has been. Tomorrow just have to be better, right?

Don’t fret Mary, you did your best with trying to keep the cat calm too. I want you to get some rest tonight.
For those of us in NY, I see the Ken Burns PBS quilt show is on at 9 pm Friday.
I am thrilled that Victoria Findlay Wolfe will be on it. I have met her a couple times at trunk shows, Quilters take Manhattan and she is so sweet.

Kathy in western N.Y. – I’d better check again – maybe my time is just for IA?

Our here in the Mountain Time Zone, the quilting special on PBS starts at 8pm Friday.
Check your local listing…I just hope I remember to turn on the tv!

Well cats are never very helpful, There is a new type of carrier that is like a bag, they cats head goes thru a hole and is fastened around the neck and the feet are contained in the rest of the bag so only the head sticks out, I have seen them online but never used one. looks like a great idea and probably works well the first time, not so sure after that.
Maybe Vets need to do like Drs. and let you go online to get checked out, you send them a picture like Skype and then they give you a prescription for the ailment so you don’t have to take a sick child into the office. I have never had much luck getting a cat to the vet without looking like I had to crawl thru a blackberry thicket, scratched and bloody.
wanted to ask if the rug book is still available before I send money for any thing else, because I want the winter banner and the hearts too. Thanks. Jan from Oregon
P.S. Relax and give the problems to God everything will be just fine.

Jan VanDeWalle – yes, Rugs From Rags including DVD is $20. Thanks, Jan!

I hope tomorrow brings you joy in sone way. I’ve had a very bad day myself today, and pray for something more normal tomorrow… by normal, I mean uneventful.

Carol at Pin Oak – what happened to you today? Send me an email if you like

I am sorry about the vet- if it makes you feel any better I have had to cancel multiple appts for cats – house cats- that just know I am trying to get them to the vet and are invisible.

Relax Mary, don’t worry to much about the cat, it happens to all us pet owners! Dogs leaving a trail of pop across the vets floor was our family speciality!

Mary, enjoyed your Christmas Eve barn post with animals/chickens. Thank-you so much for making that walk/effort. About cats, I could just walk toward them and they sensed it was “vet check visit”..time to run! We had one dog that loved vet visits and the others tolerated it. Thoughts and prayers for your soon to be other knee surgery. Appreciate all your blog posts and ideas that continue to inspire us. Christmas was warm here in our area of Texas.

  7. Diane and Squeak

Oh gosh, Mary. We have trouble with Squeak, too. This last time I had to shut all the doors where she could get under a bed or behind something where I can’t reach her. I had to grab a handful of her hair at the back of her head and shove her into the carrier that was on the washer. She screeched, but wasn’t hurt just mad. She still sat on my lap and purred after the visit! Whew!
The PBS craft Show is on at 9:00 PM here in Central Ohio. I am going to DVR it because it’s our 50th Anniversary😃😃

Diane and Squeak – CONGRATULATIONS! 50 years- wow! Are you having a party?

  8. Kathy Hanson

Oh, so sorry that your day didn’t go well. Cats are difficult, a you already know, to catch when they “know” that something is up! Hang in there! Hope tomorrow is a better day!

Hi Mary! So sorry you couldn’t get Tammy to the vet. Maybe she could be given a light tranquilizer before you try to get her in a carryall bag or crate.
I checked our electronic TV guide about the quilt history show on PBS tomorrow night. We, too, are in central time & mine says it starts at 8pm here & goes till 9pm. At 9pm, there’s another “Crafting in America” show on for 60 minutes. Not sure if it’s also be quilt-related or if some other craft is featured.

Jan from TN – I had to email PBS to find the time – would you believe 8:30?

      1. Jan from TN

I double checked ours PBS station here & it’s now showing 8pm tonight. It’s only an hour. The next hour is Craft in America but about pottery making, I think. Initially, a few months back, all the brohaha about this show led me to believe it was going to be an entire series about quilting in America. Appears to only be this one show. On their FB page, my PBS station, WCTE, indicates this quilting show is about modern quilts & how quilting has come so far. Should be interesting………..Since we are on CST like Iowa, I think your showing should also be at 8:00pm tonight. Hope you see this before 8pm tonight!

I’m sorry about your cat. My cat cries like a baby every second she’s in the carrier.
We now have a “mobile vet” in our area…a veterinarian who will come out to your home for an extra fee. Maybe your area has a vet who will do that?

  11. Pat Smith

I’m so sorry about your cat experience. We have certainly had those experiences over the years. Over the last 15 years, we’ve been traveling back in forth twice a year between FL and VT with cats and dogs. One cat could find a hiding place in every hotel room that we couldn’t get to. A little space behind the headboard of the bed? He was in it. A little opening in the dry wall behind the bed? He was in it. It’s not possible to relate all the fiascos with cats between here and there, but they all survived and died of old age. I’m sure these experiences shortened my life, however. I hope you have better luck if you try again. Tender trap?

I found the Craft in America series on PBS here in Dayton Ohio area. It is on at 1AM on Saturday🤔🤔 Had to search with the function on my remote. I scheduled it to record as I will be sleeping. There will be no conflict with Fiesta Bowl watching for me. Do you have any of your beautiful pin cushions for sale? I have one & it is my favorite.

  13. Mary Rhodes

Oh Mary heart goes out to you. It’s hard getting cats to vet. My Oreo is worst so hard get her there, she runs anywhere even down the creek! Thought visiting vet but she’ll hide on them too! I have canceled so many appointments isn’t funny! The vets does know how she is. Other 2 great going to vet! Hugs to you. Have to see on Craft in America, I’m in Ohio.

  14. Polly Perkins

darn cats seem to know when you are going to put them in a carrier and take them to the vet. I have to trap my cats in the bathroom and hog tie them in a towel in order to drop them into a carrier.

  15. Susan

My heart goes out to you, such a bad day, I wish you had someone to help. Better luck in the future! We’re so lucky to have the quilt museum in Lincoln, always a great trip. Will be thinking of you-

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Susan – the museum is on my summer list – was there two years ago and loved it!

      1. Kathy in western NY

Well after last night’s PBS show, it will be on my bucket list! VFW is just so inspiring with her polyester heirloom quilt and make do attitude.

        1. CountryThreads Post author

Kathy in NY. – yes! When Connie and I went to the Lincoln quilt museum 2 years ago, one of their exhibits was a collection of double knit quilts – they were very imaginative it I’ll bet they were heavy!

Mary so sorry about your cat. I used to sneak the carrier into bathrm, then find Mario…I would have carrier on end, find him & stuff him in with bathrm door closed so he could not escape. He would cry all the way to vet & was really quiet on way home…always quite a production. Never looked forward to his yearly vet visit.
Hope your day is better tomorrow.
