A customer pops a balloon for a 20% discount! We’ve had shoppers since the minute we opened, Connie brought chili for our lunch and the shop is looking great!

Thought for the day: Be quick to apologize.

I have enjoyed your comments about your own animals bringing in gifts and your experiences with rats. Just last week 4 cats were crouched around the exercise bike and when I looked closer, there was a tiny mouse under one of the legs. I knew he’d be a goner but hated to spoil their fun so I just went on to bed and he was dead by the front door the next morning. Ha!

Isn’t it amazing the things that us country folks just walk away from? My barn kitties collared a garter snake earlier this week, I saw them playing with something, it was deceased by the time I went out later. But it was proudly shown to me by the whole bunch.

HI Mary, Our little cat, Pyramus, would have made a good mouser, but she was totally indoors. One day my husband came “clinking” down the hall with a mouse trap because he thought we had a mouse. He baited it with peanut butter and put it in the basement. At 4 AM, I woke up to a “clinking” coming down the hall. I woke him up and said, “I’ll grab Pyramus; you grab the mousetrap.” She had brought to our bed, the mouse trap with the mouse in it!! She was sooo proud. She dropped it on her towel at the bottom of the bed and came up to “tell” me what a good girl she was!! She was a wonderful kitty–rescued with her sister, Thisbee, from our very softhearted Vet who keeps a cage in his waiting room and the kitties do get adopted pretty fast out of it. They both appeared in The Goat Gazette years ago. Thanks for sharing about your rat–never had one of those!! Diane McGregor

Do you put the sugar in the crust? Do you add butter or margarine to the crust to hold it together? Thanks.

We used to have a kitty who had a special meow when she wanted us to come out and praise her for her “catch”. After we pet her enough, she’d chomp it down.

I think your recipe should also include 3/4 c butter for the crust. I have this recipe and it is delicious!

Well, you are absolutely right, Bonnie! Obviously I typed too fast and missed the 3/4 c. Butter or margarine in the crust! I might have too much on my mind right now and should just stick to rat stories! So, so sorry!!!!
