Wednesday Check In

I am better.  The doctor gave me a  Z pack which usually works for me and I am on Day 3 of 5 days of pills.  I am still coughing but forced myself to get groceries yesterday so I could start working on food for Christmas Eve.  We simply won’t have the variety we usually have and I’m betting nobody will notice or care.

Literally within minutes of writing this post I heard a crash and  in my heart I just knew the cats had knocked over my beautiful amaryllis that I was planning on showing you.  Here  is a picture taken earlier this week before it was in full bloom.

It’s the one on the right that was just huge and in full bloom – I was going to take it to church on Christmas Day to set it on the piano so I could show it off.  I could just cry!  Who wants some cats?  Here it is this morning.

Thanks for all the get well wishes – I think they’re working.

So glad you are feeling better! I hope you have a lovely Christmas.
I had a Siamese cat when I was a child and that cat destroyed the tree often and on several occasions even opened presents. My mother said the cat was worse than the two of us!
    Gotta love them!

Why is it that cats pick the most valued thing, when they have dozens of other stuff to choose from? Oh well, I am glad you are feeling better. Merry Christmas!

Just more confirmation why I refuse to allow another cat in this house after we lost the other one several years ago. I was so tired of being walked on all night long which didn’t seem to bother my husband. This jr high teacher needed her sleep.

Sooo happy you are feeling better, Mary. Sick and Christmas don’t mix.
Ah yes, cats. Love or not. I do love them, but they are into everything. My husband read that after they are kittens, they go into either the sleep in your lap mode or kitten mode. Squeak, Millie’s twin, took the kitten route. She plays, destroys, and is cute as a button:)

So glad you are feeling better! Not be a scrooge but if it is the same cold/flu going around in MT, you may have the cough for a while…they call it the 10 week cough! It is at least that, I have it. You feel pretty good then all of a sudden you get the tickle and cough and cough and cough, then it stops and then a few hours later it reminds you it hasn’t left your body yet! But you do feel better!!!
So sorry about that beautiful Amaryllis. I threaten to give my puppies (8yrs old) up at times too!!!
Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a wonderful new year with time to do what you want this next year!

Happy to hear that you are feeling better. Just take each day/moment slow and easy. Your amaryllis are beautiful! It wasn’t a pretty site seeing the red one on the floor broken. Next year will be better than ever. Merry Christmas to you, your family and numerous fur babies.

    Mary,
So happy to hear you’re on the mend. Please do yourself a favor and take it easy for a few days. Looks like you’ll have better weather in IA than we are having in the Phoenix area. Gray and sprinkles on and off today.
Loved the snowball table topper and would love to have a pattern reference sometime.
Enjoy the holidays and get better!

Glad to hear you are feeling better. There is a lot of respiratory stuff going around in New Berlin, WI.
I always look forward to your blogs and pictures.
    God Bless and Merry Christmas

Glad you are feeling better. It’s no fun to have that at Christmas time (or at ANY time).
Those DARN cats! Oh, your flower WAS SO BEAUTIFUL!!

So glad to hear from you today. Was worried you ended up in the hospital or something. There is some nasty stuff out there. Nobody will notice if you don’t have all the fancy stuff. Christmas will come and go and everybody will enjoy the company and the day and be glad to have it all.
We can’t blame it all on the cats, or maybe? The plastic pots that come with the bulbs are too light weight for the plants. After having an absolutely beautiful amaryllis tip over because of the top heavy weight, I always plant them in clay pots and haven’t lost one since.
About 4 years ago I found a huge bulb at the green house and paid almost $20 for it. I just couldn’t resist it. The stalks were so tall and the flowers were beautiful, but because of the weight of the flowers, I had to cross tie it to the cupboard on one side and the chest of drawers on the other side. Of course, I had saved all of the bulbs over the years and not much space for them, until my cousin from Tucson came thru Rapid City to see us. She got to take ALL the bulbs plus an overflowing shoebox of grape hyacinth bulbs home and they are all happily blooming in Tucson.
Just relax and enjoy Christmas and get better.

Betty – you’re right – one of them I bought this year did come in a heavy pot. But the cats are very destructive! Just think of all those bulbs blooming in Tucson! How lovely!
