Today is Becky’s birthday and I made this red and white snowball quilt for her to use at Christmas. I had to set the gift bag down on the driveway for her to pick up and then I stepped back to take a picture. Not like the good old days when we could go out for lunch to celebrate a birthday!
Hazel had to jump out of course but she’s on a long lead that’s hooked inside the van. This red and white snowball pattern can be found in our online store for $5.00. Go to the top of this page and click on “shop” and it will take you to the store.
Rick hung a cable under our sign so we can hang quilts there. Our first quilt up on the cable will be “Vote” – look for it tomorrow.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BECKY!
My, great minds think alike?? I just sent you an email to check on your weather. Des Moines really got it hard. Going to be a LOT of cleanup and rebuilding. Good looking quilt. Isn’t it nice that we can be so pleased seeing all the quilts others have made?
Take Care, Betty
I’ll bet Becky will enjoy that quilt for years to come!
Hoping you didn’t get hit with the storms today, so much wind and rain. Looks like it was further south. Your beautiful flwoers would be gone. I saw a piicutre of a Story City corn field…totally flat. So sad.
Thanks again for all of your posts and the new store!!
Did you all have some damaging weather? I hope everyone is ok.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BECKY
Hazel misses playing with her, they are great friends.
Jo in Wyoming – it was way south of us but it is bad there. Yes, Hazel loves Becky!
THANKS, Mary! I love my new quilt, and it will be “out” all year long – not just at Christmas time!!! It was a good birthday! HAZEL!!!
I love Becky’s quilt. Have to make that one.
Happy Birthday Becky! You and I share the same birthday – isn’t it great going through life as a Leo? Hope your day was special and the snowball quilt is beautiful.
Hi Mary,Becky is lucky getting such a great quilt.we have just had our first family of 4 with covid after 102 days with no community infection,so Auckland, New Zealand is in shutdown for a few days.the rest of the country is ok ,thank goodness.pleased to see you are still being careful, best wishes from sandy
Great idea to have a cable under the sign to hang your quilts. It’s so nice to have a handy husband! Happy Birthday, Becky! How sweet that you will leave the quilt out all year. Mary, it’s another beautiful quilt!
Happy Birthday to Becky. Lovely red quilt!
Side note: I am fascinated by Becky’s wooden plank driveway in front of the garage. Usually driveways are cement, asphalt, or gravel. Is it a plank bridge?
Janice Brown – yes, it is a bridge and if you look to the left there is another plank bridge that goes to the front door. On the back side of the house is a steep gully and all three floors of the house have windows that look outside. It’s a beautiful house but not for someone with bad knees!
Thank you for the information, it is Interesting.
Happy Birthday Becky and many more! Some day soon we will see pictures again of all of you out for a beer and pizza night to celebrate all your birthdays as you should!!! Family is everything to me right now during such uncertain times. I see a hint of pink in the quilt and I have been working on this quilt so just might add in a square like that to remind me of sisters.
It’s going to be a cute setting where you hang your quilts to photograph now.
Glad the storm didn’t destroy anything at your home.
Happy birthday Becky. Bet you won’t forget this one! So glad you all escaped the big storm.
Happy Birthday Becky!! The cable is a great idea to hang the quilts to photograph. Very glad to hear you didn’t have any damage, I was really expecting a post this morning full of pictures of all you were going to have to clean up. Those storms seemed to do a lot of damage.
That is one of my favorites of your quilts. Stay busy and well.
What a wonderful gift for Becky , beautiful colors—–Happy Birthday Becky!! Have a question, Mary what kind of batting do you use in these quilts.
Happy birthday to Becky; the quilt is wonderful! I love the cable idea for quilt displays, can’t wait to see “VOTE”. I am glad to hear you missed the fury of that storm. Take good care. I miss the “good old days” ~ lunches out with friends, and shop-hopping. It’s such a strange time that we’re living through right now.
Mrs. Goodneedle : thought I’d try this.
Mrs. Goodneedle – that didn’t work, did it?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BECKY FROM ANOTHER BECKY. MY BIRTHDAY IS AUG 12. I HOPE YOU HAD A WONDERFUL DAY.
Happy Birthday to you tomorrow!
Diane in MD – I think you misunderstood – Becky’s birthday WAS the 10th.
All these birthdays are confusing… haha.. I thought I was replying to and also wishing a happy birthday to Rebecca Williams who wrote that her birthday is August 12th. 😁 And of course happy birthday and year ahead to Becky your sister!

Happy birthday 🎂 Becky. Mary so beats of you to make such a lovely gift 🎁 for Becky. Love your new way of showing us your quilts.
I live just repast of Marion and CedarRapids, Iowa. We just got back from taking a short ride to see some of the damage. Lots of trees, telephone poles down and buildings damaged. Some homes that had their entire roof torn off. Electricity was off for 24 hours for us, but will be off in Marion and Cedar Rapids for many days. We are experiencing intermittent phone service with Verizon. Just another inconvenience of the year of 2020. 9 out 11 siblings of mine live in the areas that were hit by the storm and the most we had were lots of tree damage. I do have a niece who had roof damage due to trees falling on the house.
Be safe everyone.
So glad you missed all the damage!
Happy Birthday, Becky, beautiful birthday gift and I hear you when you say it will be out all year! It is such a “happy” quilt that you will enjoy it all the time. Hazel couldn’t wait to wish you a Happy Birthday!
Mary, you, and me too, are so lucky to have husbands who are willing to do little things for us like Rick just did for you. It sure helps and it will be fun to see the quilts that you will hang from it!
