Becky and I visited Concord Care Center today to play some songs for the residents – old folk tunes like Home on the Range, Oh, Susannah!, You Are My Sunshine, Take Me Out To the Ballgame, It Is No Secret and God Bless America. Just a funny song list – we loved it and they loved it! We haven’t seen these people since February 2020 – we were tested as we came in and wore our masks the entire time.

We are happy to be Concord Volunteers!
And I am sure the care center appreciated you and Becky coming in to give their residents someone new to hear sing. I can’t imagine the double duty some of these nurses and aides have done this past year being singers, bingo callers besides their regular jobs due to no outside visitors being aloud in. It’s wonderful you give of yourselves to brighten everyone’s day.
That sounds like so much fun. When my mom and hubby’s dad were in assisted living, we always went along for all the entertainment!! We sang along to the music if they wanted us to. They residents loved it! Our nephew’s Bengal is thin, too. Just natural, I think. I love all the DD’s, Jill’s red quilt, and the farm Pics. Getting ready for hubby’s back shrgery-his third laminectomy/fusion. It was nice here today-65*.
Diane and Squeak – is this a serious back surgery your husband is going to have? Why has he had two prior surgeries? I’m so sorry – is the recovery lengthy? We ask the residents to sing, too, and they do – that’s why the songs are so simple.
Oh, I know the residents appreciated your music!!! What fun!! A dear friend of mine used to travel around the nursing homes around here to play his autoharp and sing old folk songs. Everyone loved hearing the old familiar songs from their youth!!
Diane Bauer – yes, those old songs are the key!
Think of all the joy you brought them!!!
Mary and Becky, those old familiar songs had to be so fun to hear. Thank you for sharing your talents 💜🎵🎶
Love that you go play some songs that we can all sing along and tap our toes! Just so special!
Bless you and Becky for entertaining the Care Center residents with great music.Great colorful shirts! Nothing like a good sing along to get people enthused with memories, too!
You ladies are wonderful to share yourselves & your music. I can just imagine how the residents reacted to your visit!! You go girls!!
Love the shirts!!

WONDERFUL! I bet you feel like a million bucks!
How wonderful!!! I am sure the residents haven’t had so much fun in a year and were so happy to see you both! How fantastic for you both to bring such joy and fun to the people there! God bless you!
How caring you and your sister are.
So happy for those residents! So thankful you could do this!! We can have a 20 minute supervised visit with my mother in law. Hoping they open it up soon.
What a great thing to do for them! I’m sure they enjoyed your music. How great that they could have something again that probably used to be normal.
What a wonderful day for all of you! I would have loved singing all of those songs! I’m sure you made their day!
What a great day for all. I always find my own spirits lifted when I volunteer for something. The shirts look great.
Texas is removing mask mandates as the numbers are down. There are some exceptions but it will be nice to get back to normal. I do think we will still wear them for certain places – assisted living being one.
I spent yesterday with my mom and two sisters (I have 4 sisters and two brothers). We have all been vaccinated so didn’t wear masks. We got my mom’s bird quilt halfway pieced. The blocks were finished but we’re setting them on point and adding the setting triangles. One more session and then it’s off to the quilter.
As for the skinny kitty – one of mine is super skinny and the other overweight. Magnus is 18 pounds and Klaus is 11. They’re brothers and eat the same thing and the vet says both are heathy. Maybe Siri is just where she’s supposed to be for her.
Susan K in Texas – Siri is lots better this week – I have kept her on a different canned food and still feed the probiotic every day. I do think she’s healthy – and she’s had over $4000 in tests according to her owner – all negative. I also think Bengal cats are lean which she is. And aren’t we all glad to get rid of our masks?
I’m glad Siri is doing better. I feed mine wet food too. They’re rather picky at the flavors and will suddenly decide they don’t like a favorite. The owner spent a lot of money on tests!
