Got some bad news at therapy this morning – I have shin splints so no wonder my leg is hurting. I’ve never had this before but I know it’s usually from over exercise of some kind. When the therapist says do 10 and I hurt at 8, I still power thru to 10. Guess I really shouldn’t have been doing that. It will take heat and rest. REST AND MORE REST!!!!!! I can’t believe it.
We’ve got a real blizzard going on outside and the big freeze is coming on about midnight when these winds go down. The last I heard was 25 below zero actual temp. Yikes!
More Dirty Dozen finishes. Don’t forget to put your name on your project.
That’s all, Folks!
Brrrrrr now that is COLD. Stay warm and listen to your body as well as your doctor. BTW that frog is adorable.
Take care of yourself, I had both knees replaced at the same time, recovery was rough, had a couple set backs, trying to do too much. Just take it easy, hard for the short run, but we are in this for the long run…..self care!
Shin splints can be really painful!!! I used to get them when I ran track and still get them during a good power walk, if I’m not careful. Have you ever tried DoTERRA Deep Blue?
More beautiful finishes!!! Love the tree quilt!!!
Take gentle care, Mary! You will get there!!
25 above is cold but 25 below is unreal. It’s to warm here and lots of the bulbs are up several inches. It’s hard on the ski resort, to warm to make snow and to much rain. People keep coming because it’s the only snow around as crummy as it is. Maybe some of your cold will come east but not below zero. For someone as active as you are normally I know all this rest has to be really hard on you. Listen to your body along with your doctor.
So sorry for you “shin splints” that must really hurt. Well, Hazel and Tammy will be happy that they will get some more lap time, but… I am sure you are more than ready to be done with so much “resting”!! Well, do take it easy and, hopefully, that will help and it will be better, SOON! This is really nasty weather, but we haven’t really had a bad winter. We were going to Sax Zim Bog in northern Minnesota this week to see the winter birds that come down from the tundra and also the other animals that winter there but it was supposed to be snowy as well as very cold, so I am home working on projects.
Kathy Hanson – I’m going to look up Sax Zim Bog – I don’t know what it is – yes, a bog, but I want to know more.
Mary, shin splints sound horrid!!!!Your weather sounds horrid. I feel sorry for all the animals. I hope the sun warms everyone up tomorrow!
I have a question about one of the Dirty Dozens in your post, today: the last piece…what I call very colorful tulip like trees…does the pattern have a name and designer? I am so wanting to make that for me!!! to keep. If you or she knows the info, I would be very grateful to have it.
May tomorrow be the turn to spring and much improved healing for you!
Deb Harrison – I’ll get the name for you! And thank you for that really nice card! I made it my bookmark because I liked it so much.
Nope my email is htdeb@netins.net!
I’m here in Texas and just saw the first Rose this morning on Old Blush. It was a little soggy as we had rain all night but pretty day today. Stay warm!
Oh my…do take it easy. It is ‘warm’ here!! We have +2 right now, windchill is -18. The low is -16, not sure the windchill when it is that cold. I plan on staying inside tomorrow!! I have a number of things I can work on.
I like the little snowman!
Stay cuddled with your babies tomorrow, they will love you for it! They will miss you when you are strong and out running around again!!
25 BELOW! Shocking…wind and snow. I hope Rick is keeping the barn critters fed and warm.
All the dd’s are awesome.
Rub Hazel’s ears and stay warm
I love that frog, have never seen anything like it.
My goodness! I don’t think I have ever been in anything less that 17 below! That was in my youth in PA..
Wrap up and keep warm and well! All of you..
Hope your feathered and furry mates do well. Spring is coming. Hold on! Will be thinking of you.
Patty – when it gets to even 17 below, it all feels the same – haha!
Pray you get better soon. Paula in KY
Well since your weather is so bad guess resting at this time is better than in the spring when you can get the chickens out. Have you gotten to do anything on the mystery quilt?
Dee – are you referring to Bonnie’s mystery? I absolutely gave up! The instructions were so confusing I couldn’t figure it out and decided to just put it all away until I feel better. Did you make it? Maybe you can help me?
Yes I am working on the mystery. I have the center done. I was confused on the reveal but just did one step at a time and it clicked. You do so many quilts I am sure you are more advanced than I am so I am confident you can finish it.
Yes I am working n Bonnie’s mystery. I have the center completed. I was a little confused on the reveal clue but found if I just did one step at a time it clicked. I have seen your work on the blog and I am confident that you are a more advanced than I am so I know you can finish it.
Dee – I think I’m going to purchase her pattern from Bonnie so I can make it from there. Right now I have no colored in in my printer so first things first.
Now that is COLD! Stay warm. I love that frog, would love to make it. Is there a pattern somewhere? Would whoever made it send me an email? Thanks
Billie – Mary wouldn’t have your email address – it doesn’t print with your comment so I’ll ask her for you.
Billie – please read Freda Ireland’s comment regarding the frog.
Thanks to all.
Freda in AL: See “Frog Patch Pattern” by “Me and My Sister” = Quilted Stuffed Frog Pattern. I had a similar pattern in the early 70’s and my Suzy loved her Frog! I sewed it with seams inside… in a Med, Green! I had Button eyes but we now know that is not a good Idea! Buttons Sewn on with Dental Floss might be Okay for older children. I just Love all the Quilts, Large & Small: Thanks so much for sending in your finished projects! Every one is a winner!!! Can you believe the Frog is the one that is going to get me back to the Sewing Machine? (Ordered the Pattern on Amazon (See EBay too!) We have 2 Great Grand Babies that need a Frog, each! We are going to have +23 Degrees here in Anniston, AL tonight! Hope we don’t have an “ICE Storm” ! We have Gas Inferred Heater for Backup & I can Cook on my Gas Range… ‘Cat People’: “Blue Wilderness” (Outdoor Chicken Dry) is Excellent cat food (from Pet Smart store)! Our cats don’t shed much when we pet them ( unless they are due their Spring Combing/Brushing). Their hair is SOOO soft & thick & healthy! Mary, we are sorry for your leg PAIN!!! Like you said “Less is better than too much!” Thank you Rick for all your HELP! WE all have to RUN out & get our ‘Bread & Milk” here in North Alabama! ??/ Just what people do here before bad Weather??? Thank you for your Blog!!!!!!!!
Freda Ireland – thanks for all that info in your comment. It takes a village – even here on this blog!
25 below!!!!!!!!! COLD!!!!!!! I will not complain about crazy weather we have had. Have to share Ms Maci’s latest … if door bell rings on TV she barks & immediately runs to me or if sitting on couch with me nose dives into my lap…such a brave guard dog…lol. All dirty dozen are inspiring, and the frog reminds me of a red corduroy one my mother had that she had sitting on back of her sofa, all the grandkids loved playing with it. I seem to be jumping from one unfinished project to another.. not finishing any. Did get 2 rows of the Painted lady houses together, made 15 of red/white quilt done..appliqué circles on 5 inch blocks.. basically this is my carry along project… for when have to sit & wait. Made a couple blocks for Halloween quilt…granddaughter asked me make her a Sunbonnet Sue in pastels… not fond of pastels & really don’t like Sunbonnet Sue….but is my granddaughter, so guess will be shopping for pastels. Need to clean house, think will go do some sewing!
Take care..mind therapist…don’t push yourself..stay warm.
I’ve had two knee replacements and after one of them , had shin problems. I was told it was as a result of bone strain from the surgery. One thing that helped was when I walked , I made sure I stepped down heel to toe. That “softly” stretched those leg muscles. Things will be all better for you soon!
B – thanks for that info – I put my compression stocking back on, too, which feels better. Heel to toe – got it!
