Yesterday we had Lucy’s 3rd birthday party – belated from May 20. We had angelfood cake with chocolate ice cream and Orange Julius drinks on the porch. I gave Lucy the scrap quilt I made from all the leftover bright strips and told her she could drag her quilt anywhere. It did not need to stay clean in her bedroom. (I told her mom there are more quilts where that one came from!)

It was a really fun party – we all took a ride in the golf cart out to the garden and back.

What a fun grandma you are!!!
Looks like FUN😀
Hi Gramma Mary. We had such fun at ur house celebrating Lucy’s birthday with you. Great company and fabulous desserts. Thx. Grammie Jane.
Grammie Mary,
Thanks for throwing the BEST party! You are always so warm and inviting. The cake and Julius were perfectly delish. Lucy loves the quilt and IS taking it outside; I’m obeying your wishes. 😉 Can’t wait to celebrate you and Aidan in July.
Love you!
Looks like a really fun party! She is a real cutie! I tell the kids the same thing about the quilts but then the moms all give me this pained look! HA!
What a cutie! Looks like she is having a ball. Love her blue nail polish too. I’m with you, when I give a quilt I say “use it”! If it wears out there will be another one.
It looks to me like they REALLY LIKE those big glasses for the OJ drink. The photos are cute with that “shinner.” The quilt is wonderful.
Lucy is a doll and you put on a really special party. I’d love to know what the Orange Julian drink is. Looks like my kind of fun drink.
So, I’ve repaired quilts for teenagers, their baby quilts that have gotten too ratty to take anywhere. And it looks like a great party and tell us about that beautiful black eye! A true well rounded girl.
Lucky Lucy. I just gave my high school graduate a quilt for his dorm room and pointed out that the backing wouldn’t show too much dirt, so go ahead and use it! A Bargello with 20 coordinating fabrics.
Next time you have a party this good-I want to come!
So adorable!
I’m fairly new to your blog — is Lucy a grandchild?
Well, these photos flat-out make me smile! Happy day. Lucky little girl!
Sweet picture of Lucy. Looks like a fun birthday. Love the scrappy quilt.
Whenever I give a baby quilt I always write the baby a note. I tell them that this is to drag around, wrap your kitties in, use for picnics and anything else they want to do with it. I have had some Grandmothers tell me they are shocked, but I make quilts to be used too. Looks like such a fun party!
Now that’s a party! Hope you might share the angelfood cake recipe. it looks delicious!
I have only one rule when I give someone a quilt. If you don’t use it, you can’t have it. Sometimes they look at me in shock. But what good is a quilt if you can’t love it to death?
Ann – Amen! Her mother just wants to hang it over the crib! I say “no way!”
What is your orange julius recipe? I used to LOVE them. Gifts are always more fun when you don’t have to put them “UP” so nothing happens to them.
Mary, The smiling pictures show what a special time Lucy and all were having with her special cake, quilt and OJ drinks. She’ll remember this day and get so much use of her bright birthday quilt. Thanks for sharing……your weather certainly looked wonderful.
What a nice memory for Lucy!
So special and fun!
Those little ones are so cute I just want to eat them up! Love the quilt you made for her. I am a firm believer use it and love it.
What a precious little girl and a wonderful quilt she will treasure as a reminder of your love for her. Looks like the party was a success. You are the hostess with the mostest!
You are gracious and by the way a great cook (baker) even tho you do not admit to it….what a lucky little girl!!
Drag anywhere quilts are the best. Yay you!
What a BEAUTIFUL birthday party for a beautiful girl!! Loved the quilt you gave her!!
Fun, fun, fun. They look like they had a great time and delicious food!! The quilt is a great idea for a fun, drag around quilt.
What a sweet birthday celebration with wonderful fixings. Maybe besides boarding dogs you can now host parties, just a thought, it might be easier than a quilt retreat.
How cute and so much fun!!
