Sandy, Your autumn leaves quilt is quite beautiful, I love it.
Mary, thanks for the cat pictures; I love the way they hang out with Keeper. He is so kind.
It appears Mortie is taking it easy; I love how she is curled up along Keeper’s tail.
I hope you feel better soon. 🥰
Your bean soup made me put some beans in the big kettle to soak over night. Daughter and son-in-law are coming to help eat some potato soup from the other night, plus ice cream dessert. It is soup weather. No sun! Ugh! I need sun!
I’m working on book work. Ugh!
Love all the kitties. Millie doesn’t look so good, but Mortie looks great and so does 3. Hope you will soon be feeling better, Mary!
So sorry to hear about your shoulder pain. I’ve been there and so has my husband. I know it’s extremely painful. All of my company went home to Minnesota and Virginia yesterday. The house is very quiet today. Hank’s probably missing everyone as he enjoyed being the center of attention. Decided to spend the afternoon in my sewing room even though I should be washing sheets and cleaning bathrooms. I’m sure that task will still be there tomorrow! We’ve had lots of fog off and on here too.
Happy New Year, Mary. I hope your rotator cuff heals soon. Enjoying the quilts everyone is sharing and love seeing the pet photos.
Did I miss the Dirty Dozen number for January posting?

Wishing everyone a healthy New Year!
Mary life if full of surprises, we go about our daily life doing everything just as we have hundreds of times until one day our body tells us no more! Why my brain still thinks I’m 50 so why doesn’t my body😂! I can only imagine the pain you are in, I’m wimping around here with a knot in my back that is causing my right arm to be painful with certain movements and some numbness in my right hand. I’ve been putting a tennis ball on the knot & laying on it to try to break it down (without much long term success) with short periods of relief.
Maybe you could get the feed in 25 pound bags so your 50 year old brain can lift them.
Your sweet Mortie looks like she is happy to be home.
I love the Christmas pillow by the boy. It is good for boys to learn to sew.

Mary, I hope you’ve been able to get some much needed rest! Also hoping your doctor can get you in for that MRI really fast! I really wish there was someone close by that could help you with things. And along with others, I’m glad your new iPad is working great now. Love the pictures of the furbabies & I’m sure Mortie will be entertaining you in a couple of days when she’s recovered. Yesterday we had a New Year’s Day potluck with some of our church members at one of our member’s clubhouse. Afterwards we had what we call a “singing” & practiced singing some of the newer gospel songs. We sang without music & Ron couldn’t believe how well everyone harmonized. Most of us read music. Many either play an instrument still, or did in highschool, or sang in chorus. The others just sang the melody. Ron didn’t know the words….so he hummed! We all had a great time even the children! Here’s wishing everyone a wonderful 2026!
Beautiful quilts and sweet animal pics, as usual. We have leftover ham but I made Hungarian mushroom soup from the Moosewood Cookbook from the 70’s. We’re not Hungarian and I don’t own the cookbook—saw the recipe online—it was delicious! Bean soup is in the cards, though. Re: football—GO IU!🎉
Sue – IU is on fire!!!
Working on my UFO list. Is there a number for January & I have missed it.
Hope you get in contact w/ a doctor about your shoulder.
The bean soup looks delicious and I have my beans soaking overnight and in the pot everything goes this morning. If you have never tried “No knead bread “ it is embarrassingly easy enough and tops off soup or anything there is an overnight version and two hour one that people think you have been kneading and all it is is stir rest and plop and bake for a half or and you get hot peasant bread.
The fog makes for an interesting eerie picture but pretty. I hope you are getting some sleep with your shoulder keep us informed.
Please share the no knead recipe. Sounds simple & quick.
Hi Mary, nice to see the cats and dogs getting on so well! And to see my autumn 🍂 quilt, made a cushion with the block l found under the table today and started quilting the islandic poppies for the second great niece. Decent weather today, the painter started preparing the house for painting, then maybe the roof will be done.Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
Sandy, I just love your autumn quilt! The background is so perfect and love the browns with the pops of greens and purples. Thanks for sharing your photo so we can all enjoy it.
