Our friend Kathy in New York sent pictures of another wonderful quilt from a quilt show last weekend.
We will start the Bullseye quilt along in January. We will continue to offer Live Thankfully and the goat block pattern for another month giving you some time to catch up before Christmas.
Is anyone else going to make Bonnie Hunter’s mystery that begins on Black Friday?
I found a UPS delivery by my front door a couple days ago – this gorgeous succulent wreath was sent via Lands End from my friend Amy. Isn’t it fun? I’ll show you again when I decide where to hang it.
The weather has been so nice that I let all the goats out into the house yard – here are the three amigos munching on newly fallen leaves in the drive.
Rick got done farming and started in on all the leaves in the yard.
He dumped 4 loads of mulched leaves by the barn so I could use them for bedding. Hazel laid down in the pile – looks pretty comfy. I shoveled into a tote and carried to the goat pen and the chickens. Not only does it smell good, the goats like to nibble on the leaves.

i will be pulling fabric for bonnie hunter’s mystery. last year’s mystery pull in still in the bag. hoping i get further along this year. i have a sherman williams color bar. it doesn’t have the red or the oyster cream in it. will have to send dh after it. the first one i made (her mystery) i gave away and now i wish i had kept it. i still may make myself one. hugs, patti in florida
My last year’s Bonnie Hunter mystery is still in pieces. I thinl I’ll be finishing it up as a smaller version & rename it On Ringo Puddle. Lol! It certainly looked like a grand time at Pilot Knob and I’ll bet the goats appreciate all of those leaves!
Mary, I’m so glad you are doing the Bullseye quilt! I have one started from many years ago with a few completed blocks. This will make me get started again. I have always loved all your patterns.
I will be doing the BH mystery again this year. This will be my third time & I love the two I have finished ( En Provance & Ringo Lake). I’ve also made several Country Treads quilts/wall hanging over the years.
Beverly – I did En Provence and love Ringo Lake which I didn’t do last year so it’s on my to-do list.
Leash lessons make me laugh. We had leash lessons once long ago and it was just the craziest thing. The dog we attached the leash to just howled and cried. Then she bucked like a horse. Finally, though, when she saw our other dog with one on, she settled down and took to it just fine.
I must go online and check out the Bonnie Hunter mystery. Thanks for mentioning it.

I have watched Jo over at Jo’s Country Junction so Bonnie’s mystery so when I saw an online fabric store had bundles made up for it I ordered one last night. I don’t think I’ll be able to keep up but it will be a good winter project. We will be combining here in WI until at least Dec 1st. Then I have to get ready for Christmas! Love your blog & all your pictures!
Darby – most of our neighbors finished combining last week but now it’s the field work. I’m going to try to keep up with Bonnie but sometimes it’s tough! Our Christmas cantata is in the middle of Dec, too, and that takes much of my free time.
Mary…I’m already doing SECRET SANTA mystery quilt with Sheryl from Temecula Quilt Shop. She has a new fabric line entitled Temecula Treasures coming out in early 2019…the sew along is posted every Friday and finishes Nov 23rd so could be finished for Christmas. She is using her new fabrics for her quilt.
Our Border Collie chases leaves. She and Hazel would be great pals!

Busy week ahead as our youngest granddaughter flew up from CA to spend a week. Been a while since we had a teenager here. Am so looking forward to her company!
Launa – you DO have a fun week ahead and there will be one more person to give pets to Pepper! Yes, Hazel is a livewire and they would be great pals. I should look into Temecula’s mystery – as if I need another project???? It it sounds fun!
I told myself realistically I could not keep up this year with Bonnie’s mystery as I am finishing charity 24” rag dolls & clothes and that’s been my challenge. Part of my living room looks so funny with body parts on a table as I decided to sew on my vintage cabinet singer 301 and watch hallmark movies! And I want to be ready for your Bull’s eye quilt with a refreshed state of mind. For mindless sewing (in my sewing sanctuary room with my Bernina ) I make log cabin blocks with my scraps and hope to someday have three throw quilts made to give to my children. I have LOVED the Temecula Friday sew along this year but then again I told myself that I struggle with anything smaller than 1 1/2” now so theirs was out sadly for me. I have done several of their small quilts in the past and loved them.
Hi Mary – We also saw “A Star is Born”. Wonderful movie. In addition to Lady Gaga’s great voice, Bradley Cooper is gorgeous. He did his own singing. He worked on his singing for three years! Academy Award worthy in my opinion. What do you think? Linda

That is a beautiful quilt. Is Frances Sienkiewicz related to Ellie? She does beautiful work, too. Was that show in Western NY? Chautauqua, NY used to have a great show which is now in Erie, PA.
I love seeing the Three Amigos enjoying the sun and Becky’s picture from Pilot Knob. Mary, do you remember the list of 12 items we were supposed to write and MAYBE finish all 12 in a year? I have three finished, but I can’t remember when I wrote the list so maybe I’m wayyyy behind? On my list is Cat Stitchery by Sandy Gervais that you sent out as a block of the month in 1999–well yes, I’m a little behind! Anyway, would you possibly have a picture of the finished quilt? I have all 12 patterns and all of the fabrics and floss, but I don’t have a picture. Thanks:)
Diane in Central Ohio – well, yes, you’re far behind – I think we did that in maybe 2012? And no, I do not have a picture of a 1999 BOM – haha! You must think I’d know where it is if I did have it. I am so impressed that you’d think I might have it – hahaha!
I also wondered the the maker is the quilt was related to Ellie S. Does anybody know?
The quilt show was in Rochester NY. I am trying to get an answer from someone in the guild to see if the maker of the quilt is related to Ellie. So Mary, I am wondering if your color palate for Bonnie Hunters mystery quilt is going to be very different than the brights Bonnie is using………
Kathy in w.ny- I will probably stick close to what she showed but I don’t always like such primary colors so we’ll see what I come up with. I’ll post it when I’m ready.

Thanks to Darby, I found a kit for this year’s Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt. This will be my first. My stash is mainly dark and muddy (old Thimbleberries and KS Troubles), so this will be a fun palate of fabrics to work with. Mary, maybe you could lead some of us slower sewers in a little bit slower paced version of her mystery quilt?? Sound like fun to me! Diane, I am finishing up a Thimbleberries BOM from 1999 or 2000. I got the center put together today. But now I have no idea where the border fabrics are or if I even purchased them. I did this on my own and not through a quilt shop. I may improvise on the borders. Mary, I did look up the CCC in Kansas. Well, I was surprised to find out that the Meade State Lake in Western Kansas was constructed by the CCC! I lived in Meade, Kansas for 5 years and did spend time out at the lake. Who knew?? There was a protected structure with picnic table(s) where we had picnics. We lived out there in the 60s so it has been a while since I have been out there. Hazel is so cute in the leaves!

I grew up on a farm. First in Iowa (Laurens) till I was 8, then on a farm in Wisconsin until I was 18; I’m still in WI many years later. I’m no longer on a farm but in the “country” on a couple acres. I absolutely love that you share pictures of your farm. It brings me back to my very memorable childhood. I loved the farm and my family on the farm! Both Mom and Dad are in heaven; sister too. But my memories are strong. Thank you for sharing so much of your life – you have no idea how you touch people!
