38 degrees today! Chickens almost knocked me over running out the door this morning.

Here is the definition of a cozy barn:

So glad Tim has stuck around during the cold weather since I don’t know where he goes.

Please read Patti ‘s comment about her health. Let’s card her.

Winter Springs, FL 32708
We’ve been worried about her and haven’t heard from her in awhile – cancer in her back and is on palliative care and possibly hospice soon. Details tell it better – see her comment from today. She is in shock.
P.S. JB is all about getting comfy in his box.

Colder temps back tomorrow.

Patti, sounds like all of us have been missing you! I just figured you were having too much fun with your friend. Holy cow was I wrong! I’m so thankful that you have a great doctor now who sounds like he actually cares. As you know, that is not as common as it should be. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Gentle hugs
Mary, I just really really love your animals. All of them. Thanks for sharing them with us. Also really love your new quilt you’re working on. Can’t wait to see it finished.
Stay warm everyone
absolutely no info re Patti in my searches. I did notice that in my searches there are no emails from you on 1/2 and 1/21. ???
It’s on yesterday’s blog, near the top
Brenda – Patti posted all the details on 1-22 and it seems that everybody else read it. I posted on 1-21 as well but have no answer as to why you didn’t receive it.
So sorry to hear about Patti’s illness. It sounds like her new doctor is knowledgeable and compassionate. I spent the morning cooking a big pot of vegetable soup to deliver to our meals on wheels clients. Nothing like a warm bowl of soup on a very cold morning.
Sorry about Patti’s health issue and pain—prayers for her relief.
Marie C, you have been busy; I enjoyed your projects.
JB looks so comfy in his special box right where he can be close to you, Mary.
That Mr Tim is a looker; hope he settles in for the winter, where he is safe and warm.
So glad the chickens had some outdoor time.
Thanks, Mary 🥰
I was devastated when I read Patti’s message yesterday. Cards are already on their way to her and the birthday girl, Joan.
Happy to see Tim sticking close to home and JB keeps looking better and better.
Yesterday I received another card from Sunflower in MI. Lovely watercolor card and she included a book of stamps! Thank you for your generosity, The stamps will be used to pay it forward to others on this list
I’m so happy to hear from you Patti, but what a terrible time you’ve been going through. Those first doctors weren’t very encouraging but I’m so glad you now have your “rad dr”. He sounds much more knowledgeable about pain management and how to treat cancer. It’s no wonder you’re in shock, anyone would be! We are all praying for you and hope you get some relief from the pain soon. Jan in MA
Patti, you ARE strong. This group is strong for you until you get your mojo back. I’m glad you’re in communication with a doctor who is a specialist in this type of situation. His approach shows he understands that you need to know what’s what along with his encouraging words.
Jeanine, I looked back at the January 21st post (Some Talk) from Mary to find Patti’s information.
Mary, thank you for your blog of not nothings. It’s the little things that add up to an important impact on our lives. Your blog shows us the beauty of earth, animals, music, creative juices seen in quilting and handwork, human contact from others in this world. . . . I could go on, but won’t. We appreciate the opportunity to lift up Patti, only because we met her through your blog.
Jan
Thank you, Jan. I found it.
I feel real stupid, but I do not see any comment from Patti on this blog. I read all the other comments about her report, but it is not on this blog as far as I can see. Is it just me? I have been concerned about Patti for a long time, and asked about her several weeks ago. She will be added to my prayer list.
Very cold and windy here today, but the sun is shining. It is suppose to warm up tomorrow. Thinking about all those in the south dealing with snow when they don’t have the equipment to take care of it. I saw where some snowplows from Iowa went to Houston to help with the removal. More Iowa nice.
Speaking of Iowa nice, Caitlyn Clark donated 22.000 scholastic books to schools in Iowa and Indiana on the 23rd birthday, which was yesterday. She is a very giving young lady. Also watched online, her sinking 50 of 54 three point shots. She is one amazing young lady.
Jeanine, I couldn’t find her comments so I had to go back to the January 22 blog I believe and that is where she posted to someone’s comments. Hope this helps.
Thanks, Susan and Sheila
Patti’s comment is in the previous post.
Hope this was helpful.
Patti I’m so sorry to hear about your horrible pain. I will pray for you and all the medical professionals on your case. You seem like a very determined woman. I wish you all the best.
My heart goes out to Patti. Hope she gets some relief.
Currently 7 in Wisconsin but today it is warming and we will be able to take our daily walk outside. Yesterday we did a mile plus at Costco. We also walk at a nearby mall and a Wal-Mart Superstore.
Dear Patti, it is with great sadness to hear this news. We are all praying for you.God bless Mr. Ed as he takes on a new role.
Mary,
Much thanks for reaching out to Patti and sharing her address. Managing pain is so needed for her…she expressed her ordeal so well that the pain came through her description. So glad she has Mr. Ed by her side and an advocate for her. Prayers for them both in the days and weeks ahead.
Thanks Mary for managing this loving community of friends!!
Patti, Love and prayers for healing and renewed strength! Also sending prayers for your medical team and your treatment. Prayers for peace knowing you are surrounded by love and well wishes.
Mary thanks for pointing out Patti’s information. Went back to it to catch up on her news.
Patti so sorry to hear that you have more back issues to deal with. Glad that you have a doctor who is really concerned about your needs and not just shrugging it off. It makes a difference in having a positive outlook going forward. Thank you also for taking the time to let us know what’s happening. Let dearest Ed and your cat be of comfort to you.
Marie C your quilts are wonderful, so much time spent on them.
Mary glad Tim is home during these cold days. JB looks very comfortable in the box. The smaller the better.
As always, great pictures. Love the goat in the chair, living the life on a cold day in the cozy barn. I also loved the igloo for outside coffee hats at the coffee shop in NY. Looks like it would be fun. So sorry to hear about Patti’s health issues. Sending prayers her way.
I wonder if you or your readers have heard about Prosperity chickens or Prosperity Hens. I stumbled on a You-Tube tutorial on how to make them and I can’t wait to give it a try. They appear to be very easy and a good way to use scraps. You can make one or make a chain of them to hang in your home to bring prosperity. A tradition form India evidently. This was all new to me. But I want to give them a try.
My daughter gifted me a chain of prosperity hens one year after we stayed at an airbnb in Maine. Oddly enough, I’ve had nothing but prosperity since then. It hangs over my kitchen table , suspended from my ceiling fan. Lovebit.
Well that settles it Carolyn. I better get going and make a bunch!!!!
Oh wow! Just looked up Prosperity Chickens, they are so cute! Definitely going to be making some of these. Thanks for mentioning them, Ginger! I’m wondering where you are in NH? Jan in MA
We live in Chester, a little town near Derry and Manchester. Where in MA are you? I thought the Prosperity hens were really cute. I always love to try make little things like that. Otherwise it’s quilts, quilts, quilts! After reading Carolyn’s comments, it seems like they just might work!!!!
Best wishes for Patti. We’re in Eastern NC, about an hour from the coast. We got about 2” of snow. It was wonderful for the kids. It melted from the roads yesterday, but froze again last night. I’m sure you saw that Kill Devil Hills got 10” of snow. We’re supposed to get up to 34 degrees today. Most of us won’t miss the snow when it’s gone. Tim is such a pretty guy. Your goat is incredibly lucky to have such a comfy place to lay. Mary, the only ads I see are from car dealers, and Temu. I’m not buying a new car… 😂.
Patti you have every right to be in shock and being on pain meds can mess up your thinking cap so no need to apologize. I’m sure it’s been an ordeal getting to the many doctor appointments but we’ll all love hearing from you when you check back in to update us. Your kitty knows and wants to be your comfort like your husband. I do hope you were able to enjoy some time with your visit from your friend before this happened.
During the winter, we split our time between our wooded country property near Selma, AL where we are currently and our place three hours south in Gulf Shores AL where our grandkids (9, 5 and 7 months) live. We missed out on the great snow storm there- they got 7 inches – a once in a lifetime event. Those kids made the most of it! They made snow angels, went sledding and built a snowman. We have had colder than normal temps this month but nothing to compare to the low temps at our Illinois home. We will head back up there in February for my husband to have a back surgery and to see our IL grandkids (14 and 17) then hope to come back down here until Easter. We are blessed to be able to divide our time between states and spend time with both families during the year. I’ve been doing a lot of reading and baking and potted up some amaryllis bulbs to enjoy. I “intend” to start a flannel quilt but that’s as close as I have got so far! Hope everyone all the cold areas will be warm and cozy – spring is coming!
We all missed reading Patti’s comments and her beautiful quilts. Prayers being sent your way and hope that your recovery is swift. So sorry you are in so much pain.
Mary – the red rimmed tray with grapes is exactly like the one I have from my grandma. The tray sat on her counter my whole life. When she passed away my uncle gave it to me. One of my most treasured possessions.
Patti, thank you for taking the time for letting us all know what has been happening with you. Very best wishes for your treatment going forward and it sounds as if ‘rad doc’ is the one you need, so I am glad he has been assigned to you.
Patti, I’m so sorry to hear about you suffering with so much pain. I’m praying that your rad dr finds the right treatment for you. So glad you have Mr. Ed as your caregiver. We have missed you this month. You are definitely in my daily prayers.
Hi Mary, so sorry to hear about Patti! She always has interesting things to say,but she is lucky to have a good husband, l wish them all the best for the future. Snow right down to the shore in Florida, crazy weather! Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
Patti in Florida – I’m so sorry about your pain and diagnosis. WE have all been so worried about you! Obviously the blog about nothing pulls us all together. Now we have a prayer team! Love and prayers Patti.
Our Michigan family is getting a lot of snow, and no school. Our little grandson is busy with an orphan baby goat, the mother goat had twins and rejected one! Levi is of course, in love! It looks so tiny and frail in Levi’s arms but I guess that is not the case when it gets put down!
Mary I don’t blame your chickens for rushing out the door, they had ‘barn fever’!!
We have an appointment in SF and the farm show is on. I’ll drop the hubby off and go to Walmart I think.
The grandsons wedding is the 31st of Jan. And the bride has the flu! Ugh!
Oh Patti, I’m sorry you are suffering so. It sounds like rad dr has lots of patience and has great communication skills. I will certainly keep you in my prayers. Mary, I know you were relieved to see Tim during the cold spell. He is so handsome. I think JB needs a larger box. Isn’t it amazing about all that snow down on the southern coast areas. Are there any blog readers who live in those areas? What did you do and experience?
The RV Snowbirds at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores AL got 11″ of snow in one day! The sun and rising temps are helping with the melting, but it’s cold enough at night to freeze.
Dear Patti, so sorry to hear your sad health news, best wishes for a comfortable outcome after your next treatment.
I had noticed you were absent from the airwaves, you’ve been missed by many!
Mary – So sorry about Patti. I’ll send her a card.
Patti, so sorry to hear about your pain. Hopefully you’ll be able to get treatment soon. You’re lucky to have Mr. Ed as your caregiver. Remember to hug him even if it hurts. Even a 7 second hug helps! Take care and praying for your recovery. ❤️🩹
Take care everyone.
