I always forget I can’t post longer videos – I have about 25 chickens – only about 6 really old ones left. I took lots of videos last night but only a couple fit the length restrictions for posting.
So here are three more short videos – Christmas Eve in the barn is special – I’ll bet all these animals and more were in the stable that night when Jesus was born.

Merry Christmas Mary & Rick and all the blog friends. I enjoyed the trip to the barn, how cute those chickens are roosted up high. It was a foggy day here in middle Wisconsin. Just getting caught up on the blog.
Mary I have a question about playing music in the barn. If there a special reason you do? Just wondering!
Joy – I think it’s calming and if any predator considers coming in, there’s a human voice they hear first – hopefully that discourages them.
Everyone in your barn seems to be as ‘snug as a bug in a rug’ as it should be. After watching the weather reports, we all must have had decent weather for the Christmas holiday which in itself is something to be thankful for. Now to get through the New Years.
Those chickens sure do love that ladder. I found them hilarious the way they sit so precariously on it.
Mary, your chickens look mighty comfy in the barn!
Merry Christmas to you, Rick and all the blog readers!
Wishing all a healthy and joyful 2025!
Hope you are having a wonderful, and blessed Christmas Day.
Merry Christmas Mary, Rick, and crew! Thanks for sharing the animals. We are waiting for the Iowa crew to show up. Then we’ll celebrate our Christmas on Friday. Today we had a small Christmas with Mother in law, sister in law, one son and daughter in law, and the two of us. We went to the assisted living for a short time.
Merry Christmas to you, Mary, and all your blog readers! It’s been a dark, rainy day here for Christmas. Bah. And, it’s just me, hubby, and the four cats, since this is the year that daughter’s family spends Christmas with his family in South Dakota. Well, I wore my red Christmasy socks and we listened to Mannheim Steamroller and Neil Diamond sing Christmas songs, so it’s been a nice relaxing day. By the way, thank you, Mary, for playing “Let There Be Peace” for us–what a treat!
Merry Christmas to everyone here. Thank you Mary for the gift of you. You are a very special gift. Fran from Dubuque.
Hi Mary, boxing day,so l am off to my quilting friends house for a day of sewing, chatting and left over food!Rain this morning, nice to see Hazel and Keeper, there are 2 kids called Hazel in Luna,s kindergarten class, the old names are coming back!Enjoy your Christmas time every one, best wishes from Sandy
Merry Christmas to you and Rick. Unfortunately I got the flu Monday and have been in bed ever since. Our dinner of thirty is now 18. Which will be easier for my sons to cook. I am on the mend. I ate a piece of toast this morning and I do feel a lot better but not quite my self. Merry Christmas to everyone who reads the blog. Thank you for the chicken videos.
Merry Christmas everyone! It’s cold and frosty this morning in NE Oregon, but no wind which is nice. Loved the barn videos. We’re having a few friends over for dinner late this afternoon so I may be able to play in the sewing room a bit this morning. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you, Rick and all of the animal pets on your farm. Wishing you a loving and peaceful holiday week. I plan to do some sewing and I bet you are too.
What a beautiful scene for all to enjoy. No matter what happens, the chickens and other animals need to be fed and watered. Life goes on no matter what the powerful people of the world think. That must be why the ordinary people keep doing what they are supposed to do for those who depend on them. The salt of the earth.
To Mary and the bloggers, thank you for your friendship. The small things mean the most.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. And keep on sewing!!!!!
Betty in Rapid City`
Betty – It is good to hear from you. I miss your postings on the blog. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.
Betty – what did you sew today, Betty? I know you weren’t idle all day! Temps have been above freezing all day with fog and drizzle. I’m going to sew tonight – a project I’ve been working on in spurts since last winter. Now I’d really love to finish it.
Merry Christmas, Mary and Rick and all the animals. Thank you for the barn videos. Truly a treat. So peaceful!
Merry Christmas to my Country Threads Family. It’s really cold here in Topsfield, MA and it’s the first white Christmas in a long, long time! I love the snow but not the shoveling. The hardest thing is making sure my flock of 14 chickens gets enough water. We are finally getting an egg here and there! It’s been since the beginning of November since we’ve had any. It’s quiet, we both have had a really bad cold, so we decided to stay home and not bring any germs to others. We can see them after the New Year and celebrate then. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, New Year! Jan in MA
Seeing these videos makes think of the song Silent Night. How beautiful a barn with animals can be. Merry Christmas from warm and sunny Atlanta where I’m with family. Hope your Christmas day is blessed.
Bobby from Maryland
Merry Christmas to you and Rick, and all the critters! Love visiting the barn on Christmas Eve! That was special. Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas! Now, here, it’s time to relax and probably sew. I’m a little behind on Bonnie Hunter’s mystery! Don’t always finish them, but I enjoy the process!
You are absolutely right, all kinds were there. Merry Christmas to all from Diane, Squeak, and Buddy.
Green Christmas this year.
Merry Christmas Mary! Thank you for posting the videos!!
Merry Christmas Mary and Rick! And the whole flock of animals 💕
A SPECIAL gift Mary. Thank you! Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas Mary and to your flock of chickens and people who follow you.
I think Hazel found something there. Better keep an eye on that spot in the barn.
The chickens look happy “all snug in their beds”. Ha!
Shirley from central Oregon
The chickens look at you and say, “What is going on here? That light hurts my eyes!” Love seeing pictures of your chickens. Looks like that beautiful white rooster is in charge of all his girls. I know you have more than one rooster, but he was the first one I noticed in the picture. And of course, Hazel has to check out the hole in the floor. Thanks for the videos.
The other rooster is beside the white one, the alpha rooster, but his head is tucked under his wing. He slept through all my interruptions!!
Merry Christmas, Mary! I hope you have a wonderful day!
