Several readers asked about the photo printer shown here. It was another one of my purchases made while under the influence of drugs in the hospital. Ha!!

Hope the song plays for you and that you’re all merrily preparing for Christmas Eve tomorrow night. I’ll be visiting the barn as usual when we get home from Becky’s to imagine the manger scene in front of me.

Mary, your piano playing is wonderful and I enjoy the sound of your piano. It sounds so rich. I sometimes wonder what my playing sounds like to others. So I record and then enjoy.

  2. Teresa from Port Coquitlam, BC

Thank you Mary. I really enjoyed your piano playing. Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas.

Patti I hope with gods will, you get relief with your back pain and your new meds. Have your doctors thought of doing your surgery using an epidural and then conscience sedation. They did that with my knee replacement and it was way better than having a general anesthesia.

      Patti,
So happy to hear that your meds have come through. I have a very dear friend who also suffers from back pain, and had a procedure done in early December, but she still has pain, but she says it is different and not as intense as it was previously. My husband also suffers from back pain, but nothing like you are experiencing. I pray God blesses you and gives you some reflef.

    Mary,
Thanks for the lovely piano playing.
We will be home on Christmas Day with our son, future daughter-in-law and her parents. Plus, Biscuit of course. Thursday we head to Indianapolis for Christmas with our daughter and her husband. Lots of plans with them so it will be a whirlwind few days.
I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas, Mary. Thank you for another year of the blog. When I think how ill you were this year, the thought of not having your blog to read was awful. And when I think how many people read and love the blog, I know I am not alone in that thought. I’m very grateful for you.
I wish all those reading this a very Merry Christmas 🎄! And a Happy New Year. 🌻

  5. Marcella

Merry Christmas Mary and thank you for playing the piano for us. I just closed my eyes and listened and the music came across just beautifully. I love that song and so wish we could all live so peacefully. I am so glad you are gaining your strength back and have the surgery behind you. Your blog has been part of my daily routine for quite some time. Thanks again and have a Merry Christmas with all those you LOVE.

Merry Christmas to Mary and Rick, and all of the blog readers!! May you have a joyful day!

DH and I will have a quiet Christmas, just us. I’m thankful to not be out in the holiday rush, on the roads or especially in the airports.

  7. Pat in AZ

Just beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with all of us . Merry Christmas to you and Rick and all of your adorable animals.
Merry Christmas to all who love this blog as much as I do

  8. Martha W in WY

Thank you Mary for the beautiful music. That is one of my favorite songs. I hope you and Rick and all your readers have very blessed Christmas.

  9. LindaK

Merry Christmas Mary and Rick! Thank you for the beautiful music once again . Something about piano music that is so soothing. It will be a quiet Christmas here with just the 2 of us. Too risky traveling to/from the mountains this time of year. Other family members are busy with their families, but we are kind of liking the peace and calm to enjoy the real reason for the season!

  10. Jan Smith

Beautiful Christmas music; thank you for that & a very Merry Christmas to you, your family, and to fellow readers!

  11. Kelli in NE Ohio

Merry Christmas to all! Wishing all you wonderful blogland friends a special day whatever you do!!

And a bundle of hugs to Jamie!❤️

  12. Alice in SW OH

Thank you Mary for playing for us! One of my favorites & beautifully played! Wishing all who celebrate Christmas a wonderful one! My son, DIL, their 3 grown kids, & DIL’s mom will be here for Christmas Day dinner. Laurie’s mom is in a nursing home with Alzheimer’s, but she always loves to come to my home. She’s always included as it’s so good to see her enjoy the meal & family time. Of course my friend Ron will be here to carve the ham & enjoy the meal with us. Unfortunately my daughter in NC won’t be home for Christmas due to her work schedule. Ron’s family Christmas was last Saturday & we all had a wonderful time! Everyone enjoy your Christmas with family & friends this week!

Thank you for the beautiful music! Frosty here this morning with lingering fog.
Patti I sure wish you could get relief from your pain! Constant pain is the worst! I can still remember! My hubby said I slept around….one couch, then the recliner, then bed, then other couch…repeat…not funny!
Jay and I are under the weather…he is coughing! My throat is sore! Ugh! We may be by ourselves for Christmas. No one wants us….🤧
Jays favorite Christmas song is Holy, Holy, Holy! I like them all!
    Merry Christmas everyone!

  14. Marie C

The music was beautiful. Thank you so much. We had our family Christmas on Sunday. It was a great time. Hubby and I will spend Christmas Day going to church and spending the day in, probably watching The Christmas Story. We will have Christmas with my parents, sisters family and my family next Sunday. It’s good to have get togethers spread around. Jan in AZ thanks for mentioning The Friendly Beasts. It brings back fond memories of singing it as a kid. Merry Christmas to all

  15. Erin

Thank you for the lovely Christmas music. I’ve always appreciated that song with its hopeful lyrics. May we think about them all year!

I pray this coming year will be one of good health and many blessings.

    Merry Christmas!

An accomplished pianist playing “Let there Be Peace” invites me to pause and be still. It was a great accompaniment to my Advent devotional, this morning, which talked about “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.” Beautifully done, Mary. Your selection was perfect timing on many levels. A few of you mentioned going out to the barn tonight, which brought another carol to mind, “The Friendly Beasts”.
Peace is wished for you all and your families – both human and animals – during this season. Merry Christmas!

Mary – Thank you for the beautiful rendition of Let There Be Peace. I couldn’t help but hum along with the harmony, which is so beautiful. God bless you this Christmas Season, and enjoy being with Becky this evening. Like has been said, many do not have family as they live too far away, which is our case, but we have our church family, and that is so important to us. We keep in touch with our kids as well.
Merry Christmas to all that read this blog, which is our highlight of each day!

  18. Barbara (in MO)

  22. RuthW in MD

Oh, that song was SO PRETTY!! I thought that was a photo of some car insides, and read the post and the comments and realized I’d missed your playing. Went back and saw that was the inside of your Kwai piano, and enjoyed your “Let It Be.” Thank you so much!

  23. Linda in Saginaw Michigan

Mary, your playing brought back so many memories of my family going to church on Christmas eve and all the traditions of my family’s holidays. You played beautifully, I can always hear my dad singing the old hymns and his favorites as he loved to praise with his songs.

I hope you have a happy and healthy holidays and all your babies are warm – behaving themselves!

    Blessings to everyone.

Wow! First you start with my all time favorite hymn, beautifully played, and then we’re treated to that gorgeous and fun Danish ironing board. Whoever sent that pic is a lucky lady to have inherited that (I love gnomes)!

To those who are lucky enough to still have family, enjoy every minute with them. For those like me, let’s cherish the memories of Christmas past.

    Happy holidays to all!

Beautiful, Mary. Just beautiful. I will carry it to bed in a bit. I still have some things to do in the kitchen to prepare for tomorrow. Wishing everyone a perfect Christmas. Good night, all.

  33. patti

thank you for the music tonite. it was lovely. a nice gift from you to us. (i’m still trying to clear the way to my piano, who knows if i can still play)
today has been a long long day. doctor’s nurse sent note saying final prescription for my pain pill was being processed. this was at 7:24 am this morning. next note said they are out of the office until 12/31. it is now 12:20 am at my place and the pharmacy still doesn’t have the order for my meds. i’m beyond being annoyed, more like totally off the chain. pain was so bad this morning i went back to bed twice and refused to get up until close to noon. it doesn’t hurt as bad when i’m laying down. more than you wanted or needed to know.
mr. ed will be checking pharmacy first thing in the am. until then i’m using the aleve liquid gels to be able to function at all. any pressure on my spine feels like crunching. egads. sleep is my friend, now.
i want to wish all the readers, and you mary and your family, two or four legged, all a merry merry Christmas. enjoy your family time. lots of us don’t live near family and this time of year is when it sometimes gets to us. my mother died on 12/29 in 2017 so this is also a somber time for us.
hugs and blessings to all, patti in florida where it is currently 56 F. (i think the reason my sewing chair doesn’t hurt so badly is because i’m leaning forward and not putting downward pressure on my spine – works for me anyway)

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Patti – I’m just curious – do you have a back brace? Would that pressure help or make it worse? I so wish some of us were close to you and Mr, Ed so we could help in some way. I’d be so happy to come over and run upstairs for you, cook a meal, run the vacuum (i will never volunteer to dust!) or run errands. Any of us would love to help you. Wish we could.

      1. patti

sorry, mary, no back brace. i have slipped disks from L1 – L5 and the tailbone. i also have been told to have hip surgery (bone on bone) well over a year ago which my lung doc will not sign off on the anesthesia. so it’s a combination of both of them. i appreciate the offers of help. mr. ed will run upstairs for me and i do have the cleaning crew that comes every 3 weeks. cooking has been switched to home chef tempo meals 3x week. i can handle that. it will all be better, i’m sure of it. it’s just taking it’s own sweet time (or maybe God’s own sweet time). testing my patience which is losing badly. sorry for dumping on everyone. enjoy your Christmas and thanks for the offers. patti in florida
