Let’s Do Something Fun!

Thanks for all your support – I’d say to just leave the ads alone for now until I might be able to figure out a different route and NO! It cannot be a GoFundMe page. Smile!

Remember I said I couldn’t find my #12? Haha! I had laid it apart from the others because I had hoped to finish it for a Christmas gift – like many of you who hit it lucky when your #12 was something you had hoped to finish for a Christmas gift. Wow, I was thrilled when I found it and started working on it right away. Here we are in progress – with all of my “help”!

And here is my red and white snowball quilt!

Here are the measurements:

Red squares and light squares – cut 5″ x 5″

Red and light connector squares – cut 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″.

I’m not sure how big my #12 will be – I have some cut out and corners sewed on but will need more.

More fun stuff coming tomorrow!

Finished blocks will be 4-1/2″ square – you decide how big you want your quilt – it would make a nice Christmas tablecloth, wouldn’t it?

I’m off to PT – talk later.

I had another thought, ever considered setting up a Facebook page and do everything from it?

  2. Robin Boggan

Thank you Mary for hanging in there! I love reading your blog to see what you have been doing! Glad that you are making progress and done with PT! Have a great day!

  3. Kimberly Lusin

Love your #12….another idea to gleem !!!
Just finished a reheated bowl of leftover dressing…my guilty pleasure.
I have had a wonderful morning.. still in PJ’s…& done nothing but sew, can’t ask for a better morning.
Need to do some Cyber shopping & will before day over but actually have most done & on track with the sewing so I feel fine. If I am a sleeping dreaming all this just don’t wake me.

Thanks for all you’re doing to keep your blog going. Stay away from ads and enjoy reading your blog. Such easy peasy directions!

I agree Mary, nothing Ike being in our sewing sanctuary’s and forgetting for a time being about this crazy mixed up world. I am a blog junkie who enjoys reading of some ones life and their day but I am not into Facebook or other social media platforms so my life is very content with blogs. BUt I do stop reading those that an ad pops onto it & throws me all off to finish reading it.
I can go on with my day just fine without all that hounding so I no longer read several I use to. On a very happy note, I love that snowball quilt of yours! It’s perfect for the holidays and to carry thru Valentine’s Day. Thank you so much for your efforts to keep us all connected and because I don’t mind emails, I will continue to keep in touch with you if u should lose this blog,

Mary. I am disgusted by what Google puts you through. Such an innocent and fun blog hurting NO ONE except money grubbing greedy CEO’s. It’s beyond my vocabulary knowledge to describe my feelings further. Just thank you for your fortitude and willingness to put up with these awful people. I wish them a merry christmas if they are reading my response!

  8. Mrs. Goodneedle

Now that is FUN!! Thank you, I love, love, love red and white and this is such a lovely, scrappy red and white quilt! I will make one of these; maybe this will be first on the list for 2020!

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Mrs. Goodneedle – how was your retreat at the Quiltville Inn? I couldn’t believe I saw you on Bonnie’s site – I was green with envy! What did you work on?

      1. Mary Hawk

maybe we should go? Wouldn’t it be fun!!

I love love love your snowball quilt. Why did you have to show it in red and white? My favorite colors and I need to start something new like I need a hole in my head. I could sure use some sewing time tho, it has been lacking. This would be fun to throw over a table for Christmastime.
        How’s the knee?
I hope you have some sunshine like we do here.

        1. CountryThreads Post author

Mary Hawk – knee is good – my6 wk. checkup is this Friday and I’m also going to schedule the other knee replacement – hopefully right after Christmas. I use my snowball quilt on the loveseat

Love the kitty helpers you have with your quilting, hope they don’t leave to much hair. The red and white quilt is special. I notice the needle barrel I sent that is in the first picture on the shelf with the dogs. Glad to see it out.

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Martha – if I know it’s unbreakable I feel like I can leave it out and enjoy it but many things I put in the display case which means they’re safe but I don’t see them on a daily basis. Thank you again!

  10. Kathy Hanson

What a fun quilt to finish! Love your “helpers” wish I had one too!! I will leave ads alone for now – I know you will let us know when this problem is fixed – you have had way too much lately! Keep getting that knee better so you can be dancing soon!!

I just finished a quilt top that used snowballs and nine patches, it came out great, if I do say so myself! I love your red and white snowballs, I think I might have to make that, too! My blocks finished at six inches. I’m not sure how I will quilt it yet.
I just finished reading about the beta retreat at Quiltville, lucky quilters!
Mary, are you Frolicking with Bonnie? I just checked my scraps and I have lots of ugly pinks and purples….colors I no longer enjoy, and I wonder if I should start the four patches just to get rid of those ugly bugglies!

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Carol – yes, I havethe first step finished but I don’t like my fabric very much. Guess I’ll do this mystery as using what I have on hand – no new fabric purchased!

      1. Janice Hebert

I want to “Frolic” too but realized I have absolutely no raspberry shades! Thought I did but no, pinks and a few deep purples… I guess I have to go do some retail therapy! Love your snowball quilt Mary, I would love to do one like yours. I do have reds! Jan in MA where we have three inches of snow on the ground and they are saying now that we will be getting four to six more overnight! Yikes!

  12. Sue in Oregon

Love your red and white snowball quilt.
Looks like you dare not vacate your sewing chair. lol

  13. Diane Bauer

Love your beautiful snowball quilt!!! Red is my favorite color and shows up in many of my quilts. I’ve not yet done a two-color quilt but find them stunning! And your scrappy two color is extra special!!

I was back at Pine Needle again this afternoon, buying more of the collection I bought on Saturday. I have plenty to keep me busy for awhile!! I also bought a jelly roll and a pattern for another quilt—I haven’t used jelly rolls yet, so this will be new for me!

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Diane Bauer – let us know what you decide to do with your jellyroll!

  14. Cathy

Your workspace looks like mine with all your helpers. Mine take up their posts on the cutting table, ironing board & sewing machine. Of course! Why make it easy on me? But I love their company. Lovely snowball quilt!

  15. Rainie in Maryland

Oh Mary, why do you do this to me. I really love your red and white snowball quilt and you can bet that I have to make it. Thanks for sharing.

  17. Sherrill

I LOVE snowball quilts!! I did one a few years ago in red, white and blue and gifted it to a veteran . Need to make another. Yours is beautiful!

  18. Connie R.

Thanks for the snowball quilt instructions. Yours is just beautiful! This is one I will definitely make.

Love this and so glad you found it!! Keep on blogging… we would all miss this Soooo much!

  20. Kate Schloemer

Technology can be a pain in the butt!!! 🙃 wish I had a simple answer for you but I don’t. It’s to bad these corporate people don’t have more important things to take care of with their job, but I guess this is their job!!

I love making a snowball quilt. They make wonderful table cloths. I have to make a baby quilt so maybe that’s what I should do.

I hope the PT is going well.

  21. Barbara Vest

Mary You snowball quilt is beautiful! I have always thought about making one, you’ve inspired me to do just that. thank You

    Barbara

  22. Charlotte S

Mary, I love your snowball quilt and now I have to make one. Can’t wait to see the one you are working on now. I love this blog!!

  23. Starrla Opferman

Love your red and white snowball quilt. I have a collection of red and whites but haven’t decided what pattern to do. I am glad your recovery is going well.

  24. Rosemary W

Very nice snowball quilt! Up until I seen yours, a snowball block has always been my least favorite. The two colors and the hour glass secondary block that appears is awesome in this quilt, thanks for changing my mind and inspiring me to try this!

  25. Barb K

Love that Snowball Quilt–The reds you used are so beautiful!! Makes me want to try one! I have a helper on my quilting too–my 8 mo. old kitty tries to get my pins so I have to be very careful about keeping them away where she can’t get them!

  26. Kim

Thank you for the measurements for the snowball quilt…will be doing this one for sure…either reds and tans or greens and tans…have an abundance of those colors.

I hope you can find a solution to your blog and the ads. Would really miss you otherwise. Would you consider a Facebook group?

Today was a hard day… my 14-1/2 year old dog crossed over the rainbow bridge this morning. Your emails helped brighten a dark day.

    1. CountryThreads Post author

Kim – oh, Kim, my heart breaks for you! So many of us have experienced this loss an it’s never, never easy. Tell me about your dog – what kind, name, favorite game/toy, etc – I love hearing about friends ‘ dogs! It will be a hard night – the first without your beloved friend! I am so very sorry!

  27. Jennie

Thank you for the ideas and the beautiful quilts you show us. Want to thank everyone for their comments. A very special bunch of quilters. I will be making a red and white snowball quilt in 2020. Blessings Jennie

  28. Karen Gaither

I am deciding on Signature Quilt for my nieces wedding. I love the red & cream snowball with the bow look connectors.

  29. Caryn Goulden

I love your snowball quilt! Thanks for sharing the measurements and the inspiration! I have a small stash of red & cream fabric, and blue and cream too. More projects to add to the “to do” list. How nice it is that when life throws rocks at us we can find diversion and peace in our craft.
