I’ll be writing this in two installments. I’m at Mayo today for my 6 month checkup – up at 5:30 to get here for labs at 9. The Mayo Campus is completely torn up – I guess 10 blocks of construction – I even got a phone call to warn me but I was so lucky to get into valet parking. Whew! Otherwise I had to find another parking ramp several blocks away which with all the closed streets looked impossible to find. Now I have three hours to kill before I see the doctor in the oncology department so I’ll write this birthday post.

We’ve got two August birthdays! Here’s the first one.
Mary,
Well, here is my mom’s info for her card shower. I am so excited for this to happen to her.
My name is Deb Oscarson. I have been a blog reader for years.
Please help me wish my mom a happy 94th birthday on August 12th.
Her name is Lorraine Thompson
300 Evans Ave, Apt #205, Elk River, Minnesota 55330
Mom and Dad got married in 1951. They raised six kids. She has 24 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, with 2 more on the way and 1 great great grandson… so far. When you add in the spouses, we total 103! Mom gives all the glory to God for her big family. We lost Dad in 2017 to dementia. Mom moved into independent apartment living, at that time.
She began her quilting journey in the early ’70s. She was an at home mom for years before working at the county courthouse. After retirement she opened a quilt shop to “have something to do”. She can still get down on her knees to lay out quilts on the living room floor! She sews most days and loves to stitch down bindings. She gives lots of her quilts away. She belongs to two active quilting groups. She would be so touched to receive a card from your readers.
Thanks, Mary, for all you do to make these special ladies feel special on their special days!
You are special too!!
Deb Oscarson.

I hope your tests and appointments go well today. I’ll get a bday card this afternoon for Lorraine. 94 and she can still crawl around the floor to pin quilts! She’s my hero.
Hi Mary, hope all goes well today, l am off to blood tests for my diabetes today, been watching what l eat for months and lost 10kg ! Long way to go but keep eating salads etc! Very impressive, pinning quilts on knees at 94! Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
Sandy, hope your tests come back in your favor. And congratulations on your weight loss! My husband is diabetic so I know how hard it is to eat like you’re supposed to. Best wishes for good news

Praying for good medical news, Mary.
Will put a card in the mail. 94 years old and quilting. Lorraine is very spry.
My Aunt Lillian is in hospice now. She is 96 years old and doesn’t remember anyone anymore. Her mind is already in heaven. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.
Thank you.
Lynn – I’m so sorry for Lillian and you! I love the way you put it – 96 and her mind is already in heaven – hope hospice doesn’t drag on for her. Sigh
Lynn, I’m sorry for the sadness you must be feeling right now. Prayers for peace in your hearts as you and her family travel this road.

I think your doctor day at Mayo will probably be more exhausting that a clean up day at the farm. Hoping for good news too. Hazel is so white in that pic she is practically glowing! Lorraine sounds like a lovely person & many birthday wishes will soon be on the way to her mailbox.
I hope everything went well at Mayo, Mary. It is good to have a day of not doing all that clean up! Rest your bones😀. Thank you for the name and address. Inwill send a card soon.
Praying for good news for you today! Lorraine’s card is ready to go.
What a lovely lady to send a card to. I will look for one now. She sounds like she has much energy as you do Mary!
Good luck today and will be thinking of you for good news.
