Remember a lot of these Samplers…. Guess that makes me old? Brings back a lot of good memories!

One of my most prized possessions is the stitched sampler shown in the photo with the plate on the checkered wall. My mother had several miscarriages prior to me being born…my sweet grandmother had a good feeling when my upcoming birth was announced, so she decided to start a new needlework project to celebrate the birth of her first grandchild …this hung in her kitchen as long as she lived, and it’s been in mine ever since she passed away. I’m 73 years old, and I’m curious if the owner of its “twin” has any of the history of his/her piece. Thanks to all who have shared these photos….

It is such a wonderful gift from the past to own old handwork. The ones dated in the 20s are wonderful, they are like antique furniture, full of romance, untold stories and tons of love to live as long as they have. Thanks to all who have shared their precious treasures, I pray there is young family who will appreciate the work to keep them alive in the years to come.

I love the wash day blues embroidery and wallpaper behind. What a cool room this has to be in. Thanks for sharing!

I love all of these, but especially the marriage cross stitch of Tom and Claudia. They were married less than a month before me (10-16-82). I do enjoy seeing all the needlework pieces.

I’ve been enjoying all the photos this last week – so much fun to see them all! Thanks for sharing!
Maybe I’ll get some of mine photographed and send them along… meanwhile, back to the stitching for me!
