No, not moving residences but moving the bedroom furniture that was upstairs to the main floor and furniture on the main floor upstairs. Rick needed his big dresser so Becky and I were up for the challenge. Now, I can’t say how much that thing weighs but we even had to turn a corner on the stairs! We got it caught above our heads halfway down and had to move it back up again. I’m glad nobody was watching BUT on the other hand WE DID IT! I was going backwards down the steps and if Becky had let go I’m sure I would have fallen backwards with the dresser on top of me. It’s all in its new home tonight and the upstairs can remain a mess for now.

P.S. I, for the life of me, can’t understand why some readers refuse to read the comments – comments in which I have explained that I’m having hernia surgery next month as a result of my incision from the surgery I had last November.

Your moving adventure does cause me to hold my breath till the end. I’m so glad it ended well.
The corn sure grows fast. The porch flowers, butterflies, quilts, and gardens are so beautiful.
I love Betty’s reason to buy more fabric. I too shall reply, “ I’m making new piles”!
I had cataract surgery this month. The first one went well…the second one, not so smoothly. Hopefully when all these drops are done, I’ll be well healed.
Jo – what went wrong with the second one? Becky’s husband Tom had his first cataract done today
Mary this is my first time to comment as I never knew how. I have visited your place many times during the Winnebago gnr. When my daughter was young my mil was taking a twin mattress down the stairs giving my daughter a ride. She lost control & my daughter went flying over her while riding the mattress. Next day she was black & blue from head to foot. She never let kids ride the mattress after that. Thank goodness!!
Jean – I’ve thought about the mattress story several times – who would have thought she could go flying over the top?
The corn of farmer Tim is looking awesome! Some soybeans in our area are starting to change color.
We are dog sitting for a friend. His name is Mac and he is such a well behaved dog. He is a miniature schnauzer….i think. 😝
We had an appointment in Sioux Falls today for jays eye. So he spent a little time in his kennel. But, he’s ok with that!
Not much else happened around here. Loved all the pictures, but don’t wreck yourself moving furniture!
Wow, Mary! You and Becky are really brave! I am so thankful that dresser project was successful. 😳
Today’s quilts and other projects are amazing.
It is lovely here; I am enjoying my porch swing and low humidity.
Thanks, 🥰
When somebody sees me buying fabric they ask what I’m going to make to which I answer “a pile.” I love my piles.
Monday we had Project Warmth Day where we make quilts to be donated to lots of causes. Lots of fabric has been donated for us to use. And we do love making the quilts. This particular day the local TV station was taking pictures and interviews for a piece on the night news. A lot of us sew at home and I was looking for fabrics to make a pediatric quilt. I had found several pieces and had folded them up nicely in a white plastic tub. A white Mickey Mouse print was laying on top of a larger red piece and I had set it on the table to take home.
The reporter had left and we ate our lunch, visited and admired the projects and went home. Come news time, they had the PW visit interviews, pictures, etc. AND on the very last picture was my white tub in all it’s glory. I always knew I loved my piles!!! It just made me warm all over.
In the meantime, always enjoy your sewing, even when we have to rip. Fall is coming and the weather has cooled, at least for now. Enjoy everything you do.

Betty – your red and white tub had its day of fame!!! Well done!!
I know you’re having surgery and will pray for a quick recovery.
Heck….who’s gonna do all that you do?😂😂. That’s a funny. I know no one can keep up with you. Prayers are and will be with you. 🙏
On another note I’m still writing thank you notes but a few didn’t leave their address so just know I still thank all of them for their prayers, and cards.
Sherry W. In Hot Texas!!!
Sherry – well, that’s my worry / what’s going to happen to everybody around here / dogs, cats, barn animals, house – makes me shudder to think. 9 days away last November cannot be repeated!!!!!
Betty : Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom. I always enjoy reading your comments. I too, buy fabric to put in “piles”😂😂. I’m working on a quilt top that’s giving me nothing but problems. All the measurements are critical to the design and now I find I am 1/2 inch short on background fabric ! I’m going to take your advice and enjoy the process though I’ll enjoy it more when I finally finish it. Thanks!
I got palpitations reading about that dresser moving! I’m glad you got it moved before your hernia surgery because that won’t pass doctors orders. Those baby quilts are so happy & colorful. This year I have seen more monarch butterflies than in the last several years. I plant a large perennial garden & those are my porch plants in the picture (sorry, I forgot to include my name). The butterflies love to visit them, hummingbirds to.
You need to google “Friends pivot”. Your dresser moving activities sound exactly like what happened on one of the episodes. One of the funniest scenes from the whole series!
Noel – I just watched Pivot and yes, that was exactly it except we were coming down the stairs and I was afraid it was going to fall on top of me!!! I gotta tell Becky to watch Pivot – thanks so much for the good laugh!
My first thought on your moving saga Lucy and Ethel. Now I won’t be able to get that out of my head! Lol
For some reason I had pictured you as much taller, Mary. You’re just a tiny little thing. Tim’s corn looks amazing and so healthy. We have a huge field of sorghum down the road from us that looks kinda bedraggled. It’s starting to head out and the birds are sure enjoying themselves.
Jan in AZ, lucky you with your rain totals. We didn’t get any yesterday but on Monday got half an inch and were just tickled.
Love the patio plants. So cheerful and bright. And what a clever way to display the old hankies. I have several from my MIL that I could use to make one. Another project to add to the list! Lol
Pat in AZ – yes! That was a great comparison – definitely Lucy and Ethel!!!
I was able to close oodles of ads and the comments showed up. I think you fixed it! I love the hankies displayed that way. I am so glad that they are no longer used from a hygiene standpoint. I am making charm pack tote bags. Pin cushions were not making much of a dent in my scraps, but the local pet store was photo as buying bags of lizard litter ( akacrushed walnut shells)
Pat, those quilts are a labor of love – so cheerful. Handkerchiefs in a frame , , , I like the idea. Beautiful flowers on the patio. We had a storm late in the evening – about 40 minutes of a heavy downpour. This morning my rain gauge said 1.3″! Impressive, as our monsoon season has been more of a nonsoon. and the second storm this week.
Mary, you two sisters are quite the power team!! Be careful.
Jan
Third times a charm. The reply box is up.
Many years ago I was under a hide a bed coming down the stairs and my husband couldn’t hold on the I felt the weight drop on me. Needless to say my moving day chores got limited to packing and not “moving”. I don’t envy you moving furniture down the stairs!!
Love the corn picture. Amazing!
Take care of yourself and enjoy the break in the weather. My sister lives in Colorado and prays for the rain to put out the fires in her state. It’s been a rough summer for too many folks.
Beautiful pattern of pumpkin and gourds.

The corn is southeast Iowa is drying, and my husband said some is already being harvested. It has dried a lot in the past week. Tim’s corn looks great!
I love Pat’s applique quilts. What a lot of work wen into them. I’m they are being enjoyed.
What a great way to display the hankies. I have some, but they are not real old ones.
As always, I enjoy all the pictures and comments. Cooler here today.
